Major Matrix Revolutions SPOILERS

Recommended Posts

Guest GameCop

This is from a friend who saw a pirated copy of the Matrix Revolutions:

- Morpheus dies in the battle for Zion

- At the end of the film, Neo wakes up beside his computer to discover that it was all a DREAM.

I doubt the legitimacy, but I'm not surprised by the cop out ending if its true.

When you think about it, the Matrix is like a dream.

To give you guys an example -- 10 years ago I had a dream; in this dream, I was getting my ass kicked by a bunch of guys. However, I abruptly realized that it was MY dream, and I was in control. Suffice to say, thereafter I opened a major can of whoop-ass.

I can understand that. I once had this dream that I woke up, and it turns out my whole reality was just a virtual reality prison created by machines with AI, so that they could harness human body heat for energy. Anyway, in my dream, it turned out that I was the only one who could stop it, and I had really cool powers and could fly and stop bullets and stuff.

What if bill wakes up Ted from his dream?

Seriously though, I think most everyone believe Morpheus is dying in the next flick, just because there ALWAYS is some type of "heart-break" type death.

As far as the ending, if that is true, that will be the biggest dissapointment ever. I figured there may be a bait and switch ending, where Neo saves Zion, yet right before we get to the credits, it cuts to a scene with a computer, starting up or some sort of machine still running....

Man, I got ripped off on a lucid dream two nights ago. I was running down a hill with a gravel path, and I wiped out right on my arm. Like I fell with it in front of me and landed on it on the gravel with my full weight. So I'm thinking "shit...I've done some serious damage here" and I really slowly raise it to look at it, and not only is there not a scratch on it, I suddenly clue in that it doesn't even hurt. I have the sudden realization "hold on...I must be" at which point, I promptly wake up. Cheap, man. Just cheap.

To actually say something on-topic, if this is accurate, there's no way the ending can't suck. Either it's a Newhart-style "yes, it's a dream" speculation-free ending, which would suck, or it'll be the whole "was it really a dream, and if so how much of it" thing, which I've already seen done about as well as it could be in Waking Life. Not that the Matrix struck me as anything special from the outset, but I can't see that as being anything but an incredibly weak ending no matter what they do with it.

Weird, we're talking about The Matrix and Dreams, and I had a weird dream dealing with the last Matrix movie last night. It had Trinity, Neo and Morpheus fighting the Agents, but the Agents were Giant Blunts. Then they meet up with that french guy, who tries getting Morpheus to do some acid. Morpheus goes back to when he last used acid, with a big cut scene that says "The Real Matrix Revealed" and there he is standing in what looks like a country club with (both dressed in a white sweater and white khaki pants) are George Carlin and Bill Cosby. Thus makine the Matrix one big acid trip

Dude, if the ending of the movie reveals that Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus were all on one collective ACID Trip, then it would be the BEST ENDING EVER. Ingenious.

I heard one theory that Neo makes and sell virtual reality games. Like thats what he to that guy in the first film. So the whole 3 movies was just him testing out his latest game. Interesting but lame.

That would be half a rip-off of Red Dwarf.

Basically any ending where Neo doesn't die trying to save mankind or Neo does in fact end the matrix is a pile of bullshit. Damn it I want to believe in heroes again!

The "it was all a dream" ending is very cliched and lame. I would hope the Wachowski Brothers have more respect for their films and their audience than that.

That would make it a rip-off of Dave Cronenberg's eXisTenz

That movie had 3 levels of reality. It was a game within a game and the "real world". The Matrix seems to be following this formula.

If this is true, then:

If it's all a dream, then technically Morpheus doesn't die.

:bonk:

But if you die in Neo's dream, then the dream makes it real... or something like that.

Right, right, right. True dat, playa.

BUT... if Neo dreamed ALL of this, then technically... Morpheus doesn't even exist... or something like that.

I can just imagine the riots that would take place if they did the "It was all a dream" ending.

The Matrix...disappointing? No... ::rolleyes::

I had no idea pirated copies were out yet. Where'd he get it...Hong Kong? P2P? "Anonymous sources"?

Hey, ask your friend for spoilers that matter, like if the white dudes with the dreadlocks are coming back. It's a given that it'll suck and have a cop-out ending; anyone whose scene Reloaded can plainly see the Wachowskis wrote themselves into a corner from the very first movie, and despite their perceived intelligence by the media, are no less exploitive of their audience and money-grubbing than any other blockbuster Hollywood production team.

But I might waste my time again on them if those white dudes with the dreads are back. Or that orgasm cake.

This is the problem I see when a movie like the original Matrix has some nice little thought provoking points that go unanswered, and then a sequel comes around that can only serve as an attempt to answer these questions when no available options appear satisfying. Perhaps they have come up with something that will satisfy, but I doubt it given the presentation of reloaded.

My friend will give me the link to download Matrix Revolutions in a few days. I don't see why he would lie though...

After Neo wakes up, they could show that Morpheus is his nieghbour or something, then the final shot could be Morpheus winking into camara. Then they could release The Directors cut of the whole trilogy complete with a hazy pink border in indicate a dream ala Saved By The Bell.

Don't forget that the agents put Neo to sleep when woke up in his bed. Dun dun duuuh!

If they use that ending there will be a massive geek revolt.

Indeed.

Today, in summer school I overheard this guy talking about how he had seen Reloaded four times and how it was an awesome movie. All I could do was roll my eyes.
