Hero and Cabana better then fellow GBM member CM Punk?

C'mon Dean, how could Punk be left out of the top 10-20?

First, I'd like to say that it's nice to see El Dandy at 105, after all, I like to think of him as somewhat of an idol of mine...porque EL...ES...DANDY~!

Second, how did Takayama fall behind Tenryu? Is Tenryu doing something godlike in World Japan or something? Because Takayama has surely been doing a good job in New Japan...

Lastly, DEAN...thank you for putting the Dragon at number 1. I don't think I've ever seen a match that has been horrible with him, and he seems to get the best out of anybody he wrestles.

Choken sed-

"Because Dean and Wildpeg and RRR are going to get bitey sooner or later..."

And yet the only poster I'd call even remotely baiting in this thread thus far is...you? Oh, right.

Ya gotta luv the 500. The premier wrestling dork think tank supernova not only gets you all updated on whos hot and whos not, you get to bitch about your favorite weekend warrior being 13 spots below Michael Todd Straton while debating the merits of Tenryu's eternally crusty ass in the top 5, plus you get to see the xenophobic 'net rubes and WWE apologists get all up in a tizzy like clockwork. If the IWC has a Christmas time this is it. Thank to Dean and Cru for the hard work.

Shannon Moore is better than Jeff Jarrett? Heh.

How in the hell did CM Punk get that far up there?

Just another thought.

I thought for sure you guys would wedge Chase Beckett on there somewhere.

That was his name, wasn't it? The Benoit clone from the Super-8?

Just thought I'd correct an error on your list: Sandman ahead of Elix Skipper

I guess you didn't see his 90 minute beauty against Chris Hero, did you...

92:13, to be specific.

Or his match vs. Ace Steel and Vic Capri

Or his 60 minute time limit draw vs. Hero.

Or his work at the Ted Petty Invitational, vs. Christopher Daniels, Hero, and BJ Whittmer.

Or his ROH work.

No, damn, I guess there isn't a reason for CM Punk to be on the list at all.

Hero was head a shoulders above the other two in everything, I'm a giant Cabana fan and CM Punk had crappy matches with Christopher Daniels. That was basis of most arguments in the placement.

Tenryu's matches with Chosyu and especially the GREAT match with Koshinaka in World Japan got us on the Tenryu bandwagon. Akayama had the truly fabulous match with Takeshi Rikio but didn't have completely balls out matches like the Chono or Nishimura matches from the prior time period. I didn't see the Nakanishi match like the rest of the guys.

As for AD making everybody else look better, I was first to put forth the theory that Paul London is an AD creation.

Liger down in 10th? I know thats a decent placement for most people but I'm really digging heel Liger right now and wou;d have gone higher

Just for comparision Dean where would you estimate Ran, Yoshida, Ayako and Momoe would have finished had they qualified for the list?

If this is Christmas time, I want to see Chris Benoit at #1 in six months.

If they keep booking Benoit as Tito Santana '03, I fear for our boy Benoit. I'm guessing that Angle returning signals that they will something to do with Benoit pretty soon.

I think if we had seen Lyger/Kanemoto vs Kikuchi/Kanemura AFTER seeing Bucanero/Vampiro, Honda/Kobashi, Honda/Saito, Nagata/Murakami, AD/London, AD/Styles, Shocker/Vampiro, Saito/Akiyama/Izu vs Rikio/Morishima/Ikeda, and Takayama/Rikio, Lyger would have gone higher. I think since it was the first great match of the time period, we used all of it juice to get Kikuchi so high and then Lyger got pounded as the other matches came in. Lyger carrying that K-Dojo shmoe almost got him over the hump.

As for the Joshi, Ran Yuyu would be top ten. Yoshida top 20. Momoe is a whole lot of tapes I haven't been able to watch yet.

BEckett will go higher and higher and higher next the more that tapes with him come rolling in. I dug Beckett in ECCW and then he disappeared from the face of the earth and then he ruled the Super 8. I hope he becomes a Northeastern fixture.

The beauty of American Dragon is that he is a healthy, undrunk, more physically gifted William Regal (his mentor). That'll get you #1 in my book everytime.

TomK is in love with sober Sandman. Skipper as Extreme Blade is weird and fun but he didn't carry Raven or anything.

Couple more

44) Paul London - In my opinion if you're going to put Dragon at #1, it's very harsh to put the man who's comfortably hung with him this low

80) Yoshinobu Kanemaru - This is just plain evil, below Super Dragon?

Red > Jerry Lynn? Ok....

Schneider and TomK are never impressed by Jerry Lynn these days and I got tired of going to the wall for him. And when Rippa and I brought up how bored we were with Red; Ray, Pete, Schenider and Tom would reel off all these matches that Red was good in. At that point, we'd far rather take their word for it than actually watch the matches they reel off.

The drop in matches not including AD is pretty stark. Plus he is a one trick pony at the moment. Notice that his only Super 8 match worth the tapes it's on is the one where he is selling as a babyface in peril. When he has to wrestle any other way, he is pretty pedestrian.

Super Dragon vs Bobby Quance renewed Schneider's love for Super Dragon. Kanemuru suffers from being in some matches not booked by Lyger.

No. Just, no.

57) Ian Rotten

65) Doug Williams

If you say so.

101) Red

105) El Dandy

?

148) Don Frye

149) Brian Kendrick (Spanky)

OMG THE 500~~~~!

YAY~!

1) American Dragon

- Oh you are damn right there Dean and Company. Anybody that actually likes wrestling should check out Dragon just to see just how a person can stay on the mat and still provide interesting action. Dean I salute you.

3) Chris Benoit

14) Eddie Guerrero

Oh no way man, Benoit has been way slipping lately pulling out the mundane matches over and over again while tossing out all the good and filling it with the spotty spot spot. How many times did he throw that headbutt when his opponent was working the neck? Eddie had a much more solid term working with lesser guys while getting Chavo and Tajiri more over in the process.

50) Chris Jericho

Bah me no like Chris Jericho anymore. Everything the guy does is at three quarters speed and his offense never makes even the least bit of contact anymore. Sure he can bump, but so can Spike Dudley... too high.

63) Chris Hamrick

Again with the Chris Hamrick? Can't say I've ever been impressed with the guy who always struck me as a poor man's Bobby Eaton with less personality and without anything that didn't come off the top rope.

74) Christopher Daniels (Curry Man)

Feels way low for me.

101) Red

Now what does Red do that makes him better than (for example) Rob Van Dam? Because everytime I've seen the little spot tosser, he sells less than The Undertaker and never sets up his ridiculous spots properly.

118) Jack Victory

THEE Jack Victory??? Royal Family Jack Victory? I'm stunned.

124) Brock Lesnar

JACK VICTORY??

135) Jamie Noble

JACK VICTORY??!?!?!?! Seriously, Jamie doesn't use his gimmick enough and his offense doesn't have the same snap to it that Benoit has so I can see him being this low on the totem pole.

178) Shelton Benjamin

263) Charlie Haas

You guys make me sad. Seriously, did you make this list to hurt me Dean? Benjamin is not better than Haas and sure as shooting not better by almost 100 spots. Someone needs to explain to me what exactly Shelton does better other than kick than Haas because I am not seeing it.

259) Goldust

Feels low to me as the guy does a whole lot more for me in the ring than some people ranked higher like Christian. They're basically the same sort of minimalist workers but Goldust seems to do a lot more solid stuff with his than Christian does.

293) Chuck Palumbo

You know Dean was pushing for this because of the punches. GO PUNCHES.

368) Jerry Lawler

Please tell me he still works indys and you all aren't basing this off of his WWE work. Please.

424) Mil Mascaras

The requisite "He's still alive? He's STILL wrestling?" ranking.

474) A-Train

I'm winning you over Dean and you know it. A-Train is the future buddy! THE FUTURE!

To Ace309: Chance Beckett is at #99

It's now time for my semi-annual cursing that someone spells his name differently than I do.

Is the DVD 8.0 the period from November 1, 2002 to May 1, 2003 or is it the period from November 1, 2002 to June 2, 2003?
