Angel Season 1...

Dont worry about it, i was just being sarky.

While i'm here, does anyone know the circumstances that caused Doyle to leave and be replaced by Wesley the Willow screwer.

I mean, i know he died when he stepped in front of the demonkiller machine, but why did the actor, glenn quinn leave

It was written that way from the beganing so say Whedon and Greenwalt. I refuse to believe that there is a single human being on the planet that watches this show that doesn't know that doyle died.

Doyle was killed because Whedon and Greenwalt wanted to show that any character can die at anytime. Basically just to suprise people, like I am sure they did. It suprised me, but I wish they kept him around longer.

He used the same quote when he off'd Jenny in season 2 of Buffy. The Doyal for Wesley trade off in season 1 is hardly fair.

Wes fucking owned in season 4. OWNED.

I've always looked at Doyle as some sort of Whistler rip-off, I liked him and all and was shocked to see him off'd so quickly, I didn't mourn him for very long...

Joss and David also said it in the commentary for "City Of", I believe.

I dunno...I like Wes now, but I hate how they turned him from bumbling idiot to super badass. He should have been a little tougher coming over and not just picking up where he left off on Buffy...he might have been wussier in season 1 of Angel then in season 3 of Buffy.

My friend asd I have debated this endlessly.

He agrees that Wes should have been tougher when he came to Angel...but I disagree.

Why would he be tough? He hadn't done anything. Only after actually doing stuff on Angel could I buy that he had grown into a cool guy.

The same way Dawn went from whiney bitch to vampire killer in the season 6 off season.

Dawn was forced into giving up her friends baby for the babies own good to said friends worst enemy and then got her neck slit and all her friends abandoned her and that friend whose baby she stole tried to kill her and then went into painful solitude for months?

And Wesleys toughnest was a slow build and he wasn't quite as punk ass as he was in Buffy when he first appeared on Angel. He was putting up a DECENT fight and as time went on, he became tougher and tougher and more battle tested.

Remeber when he came to Buffy he had only face "two vampires...under controled condidtions" He was like Xander, completely useless in a fight in the beganing but as he became more and more battle tested, he could kick a little ass himself.

I've just gotten to the episode in Season one of Angel where Faith comes in, which is cool. Faiths a seriously cool charecter.

I'll most probably gte laughed at for this but: I hopethw whole Wolfram and Heart threat gets bigger soon, i'm still not buying into them as a real threat yet. But i think its a really cool idea to have some one against a something like a law firm its kinda clever if you ask me.

All right, here's my question. Dames, YnA, and crew, I'm looking at you. I haven't seen Angel season one. I'm rewatching Buffy season 4 now that I've got it on DVD. Should I just shell out the cash now and watch them in parallel? Is it worth it for the crossovers, or should I just save my money till I feel more inclined to spend?

I watched Angel season 1 before I saw Buffy season 4, and I didn't seem to miss that much.

However, it is cooler to watch the crossovers, so I'd buy it.

I'm watching it parallel...because that was the way they were meant to be seen. I didn't buy Angel Season 1 until I got Buffy Season 4.

I've seen all the Buffy 4s so many times that I pretty much knew what was going on on Angel anyway. So when I'm seeing it on Angel it's mostly new to me (didn't have WB, long story)

Angel is definatly worth owning, and I'm sure you'd get a little more out of it if you ran the shows in the order you're suppose to see them. But to me it doesn't matter that much.

So about the DVD versions of Buffy and Angel, do they have extras on them making it worht the extra money instead of the tapes?

Yeah, I think the DVD extras - featurettes, interviews, commentary tracks, things of that sort - are worth it. Moreover, from what I have seen, the cost of both sets of one season in VHS (they split the season into two sets for VHS) is not much less than the whole DVD set for said season.

I can't stand VHS anymore anyway so to have an entire season in a nice compact box set with a high quality transfer is all I need.

*Sigh* I need a job, Buffy and Angel are sadly out of my grasp without one. Oh well looks like i'll have to carry on borrowing them off friends.

Almost done with season 1 on DVD...only 3 eps left to go. They just wrapped up Faith's story.
