Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted June 10, 2003 When the bottom drops out of the business, and according to the cycle theory, it will. So whats gonna be the first thing to go, outside of talent. My bet is WWE magizine, whats yours?

Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Wrestling, when the bottom drops out it the tv show will resemble a generic reality tv show with "challenges" being considered in ring content. The Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal will be the focus of the show.
Adam 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 The Spike TV Deal should fall through too

Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Is there any way investors could somehow force Vince out of his position as chairman? The Board of Directors would have that authority, I believe.

Guest Super Pissed Smark Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Is there any way investors could somehow force Vince out of his position as chairman? Â No, the IPO was structured so that the McMahon's can't lose control of the company.

Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 10, 2003 1)The McMahons are majority shareholders.  2) (ii) our failure to retain or continue to recruit key performers could lead to a decline in the appeal of our story lines and the popularity of our brand of entertainment; (iii) the loss of the creative services of Vincent McMahon could adversely affect our ability to create popular characters and story lines; (iv) our failure to maintain or renew key agreements could adversely affect our ability to distribute our television and pay-per-view programming, and in this regard our primary distribution agreement with Viacom runs until Fall 2003 for its UPN network and Fall 2005 for its MTV and TNN networks  Vince McMahon is an asset to the company.  So really, only Vince McMahon will decide when Vince McMahon can leave.  Either Raw Magazine or WWE Magazine would go, but they would always have one publication. There would be cut backs in some merchandising (not tshirts or dvds, but stupid lil things like pencils and beef jerky). Needless expenses, like smashing TV's or cars, would stop. It's really the little things that would get cut, nothing big.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 10, 2003 The DVD market is actually a growth market with the WWE (the only one, aside from international touring). I see them producing MORE DVDs in the future, rather than less.
Bored 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Considering how bad house show business is right now, cutting back on them would probably happen.
Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Trimming the fat would be their strategy. Like Rudo said, cutting the beef jerky, pencils, pens, sunglasses, and other meaningless merchandise is what they would do. Personally, they could really use the money cutting back guys like Steiner, Nash, and Goldberg (which would save close to 2.5 million), but oh well.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted June 10, 2003 They'd fire some Cruisers.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Yeah and the OVW guys, damn those developmental stars living the high life in their penthouse suites while poor guys like Nash, Goldberg, Steiner, Hogan all struggle to get through the day on their shoestring budget. Â Actually, I wouldn't mind them getting rid of OVW - then we could get some good talent in.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Hmm...they did cut HWA already. Â Fuck OVW.
Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Well The World has already gone, so I am guessing SmackDown Records. Didn't they already shut that down a while ago?

Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted June 10, 2003 They'd fire some Cruisers. Not just cruisers, but most of the guys they picked up from the WCW buy-out, save for maybe Helms and Booker. At least, it wouldn't surprise me.
Guest the 1inch punch Report post Posted June 10, 2003 They'd probably get rid of Helms and Booker anyway
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted June 10, 2003 They wouldn't be fired. The Hurricane gimmick generates a lot of merch. sales (esp. from kids), and Book is one of the more over faces on Raw.
