Who should win king of the ring?

Recommended Posts

Guest muzanisa

Test's angles overlap. He was doing the ladies love me and the I can't be fired so I'll beat up the ref at the same time I'm sure but neither have lasted. Now before I get flamed I don't like Test and can't see myself ever liking him. He's the prototype McMahon wrestler who'll get pushed while the Jerry Lynns' of this world get fired; see also Billy Gunn. But since the end of his association with Steph he's been chopped and changed so much that he is another  damaged by the writers wrestler like Jericho and Angle.

Still tough luck eh.

Why do they consistantly try to push him if the fans don't give a flying fuck about him???

Is it because he is Shanes buddy or does Vince or whoever see any possible potential in the big lug??

I admit I used to like him, he's not the worst in the world but there are far more wrestlers more deserving a push then Test.

Shane is VERY loyal to his friends. And they are all useless.

Should be interesting to see how the WWF does KOTR this year.

As far as Test winning.  I really don't see Test taking the King of the Ring when he wasn't even in the top draft picks from RAW.  He was placed number 24 and supposedly, that was done by a random drawing.

The guys I can see winning are Booker T - He really needs creadability in the WWF, and being beaten on a regular basis does not help. (Don't forget he does have a pinfall victory over HHH with a little help from Steph.)  May not mean much, but it does mean he is viewed as a main eventer in the eyes of Vince.

Rob Van Dam - The fans love him no matter what kind of reputation he has as a sloppy worker.  As the IC champion, he must have gained favor from someone in the back (Mabey Paul Heyman).  A KOTR victory would only make him more popular if it's possible.

Chris Benoit - This is my choice for the winner.  Being drafted as Vince's number 3 after being gone almost a year says something.

Lance Storm, Christian, DDP, Brock Lesner, X-Pac - I don't see any of these guys winning.  X-Pac made it to the finals of the 98(?) KOTR and had a crappy match with Billy Gunn.  Lance Storm will be too busy jobbing in Heat to be in KOTR.  WWF so dropped the ball with Storm, even though he is over-rated, he can still add more to the WWF than being beaten every night.  Christian would not benifit from a KOTR win.  He's not main event material, but he is cruiser.  DDP is way to far past his prime for a main event push.  Brock Lesner could win it, but I don't think it would be a good idea, since it would seem like the WWF is copying WCW's monster push of Goldberg which sucked and made Goldberg's matches horribly predictable and boaring.  Spear, Jackhammer, Pin, repeat.  Blah

Who I would like to see win it:

Brock Lesnar

Test

Christian

Rob Van Dam

Who would make me cringe if they won it:

William Regal

Booker T

Big Show

One of the Dudleyz

One of the Hardyz

Chris Jericho and X-Pac are too far along in their respective careers to win it, IMO.

So we can all look 4ward to another push for Steve Blackman when he comes back then.:D

Who else are his buddies.

He's friendly with Big Show and used to be with Raven when he was Jonny Polo. Not sure if they are still buddies or not. Looking at Raven's WWF career I think not.

Yeah, I've heard several times that Shane and Show are good friends.

Apparently Blackman has a career threatening injury, so don't look for him any time soon, if ever.

RVD dosn't need to win it, he's ready for the main event anytime HHH allows it, ie when HHH needs someone new to beat.

Storm's somewhat overrated by the net crowd because he's a good worker.  The problems with Storm is that he doesn't exactly have an engaging personality to his ringwork (for instance; Benoit's stuff all has a bit of intensity to it, Flair's was always based on the final goal of out-smarting his opponents, Triple H's to beat the other guy to a pulp.), has a pretty average look, and a moveset that's better suited to the early to mid 90's.

I know I will get major heat for this, but I really believe in Test. I think he is very, very underrated and consider him to be the most talented big man (6'6" and up) in the business today. His promos are pretty brutal, but:

- He works a very snug and very physical style.

- He's got a great look.

- He has an amazing repetoire of power moves.

- His workrate isn't bad for a big man.

- He is very athletic and agile for a big man...he comes off the top rope like HBK, for Christ's sake.

- He is Dungeon-trained. :)

I think he has untapped potential as a killer, and that the fans need to get over that whole Stephanie debacle and give Test a chance.

I think "amzing repetoire" is being rather kind to Test. The big boot is hardly an amazing finisher. And when he tried using the Roll of the dice recently, he hurt Crash with it and it hasn't been seen since.

He often has nice tights though :)

I'd like to see RVD vs. Storm in the finals. Either guy winning would rule. It can't hurt RVD's career. He's massively over and deserves to move his way up. Storm is damn good in the ring and....yea well he's damn good in the ring.

I would like to see Kane or RVD win.  It will probably be an nWo member, like Scott Hall, though.

My choices to win:

RVD

Christian

Tajiri (if they're serious about a Cruiserweight division, which they aren't)

Hurricane (see Tajiri)

D'Lo (Decent worker, but he's on McMahon's shitlist)

Booker T

The WWF's choices:

Albert

Test

Regal

Bradshaw

X-Pac

Maven (If TE 2's final week is near the PPV)

Justin Credible (because Jockstrap Boy is the last Clique member in the WWF who isn't getting a big push)

Mark Henry

Rikishi

Guest Just call me Dan

I have three picks that I would like to see.

1) Y2J: I'd like to see this tournament to guarantee the winner a world title shot the next night on RAW.  Jericho could start off in this thing by saying he is not a fluke.  He deserved the belt because he can beat everyone up and down the roste and EARN another shot.  I don't see how he could stay a heel, unless he cheated to win or just was that damn good of a heel to have that story and still get booed.  Anyway, Jericho goes through them all and has a blockbuster of a match with the champ and re-establishes himself and stays in the ME this time.

2) Benoit.  Just push him to the moon to make up for his falling behind of Jericho so-to-speak during the injury absence.  Huge face run, grand and entertaining matches, he just busts his ass and right off the bat becomes anohter huge threat.

3) Lesnar: Shakes everything up, continues his push, gets him a world title shot, he loses.  He woukld then have to obliterate others because he is so angry, and it would keep him from being pushed too hard because he would have to keep working harder to get his shot back and try and prove himself as the champion.  He would have to work to get past the glass ceiling.  Could be interesting to me at least.

Possible KOTR Candidates........

Test - Seems logical as he's one of the top mid carders in need of such a title. He's really improved since the days of the Union

Benoit - Really doesn't need it. He's over enough as it is

RVD - REALLY doesn't need it. It'd be better if he lost cheaply in the KOTR finals to a heel Test. Thus making RVD look strong, but giving Test the KOTR title which he needs.

Booker T - I can see him winning as a fresh baby face. The fans want to cheer for him and the spinaroonie. If he remains heel, he'll just be fodder for RVD and Benoit

Christian - He could really use the KOTR title to get him into the upper mid card. The Euro belt should be glued to this man for a year.

Maven - Groan, I can see Vince doing it just to piss off everyone and as a promotional tool for Tough Enough 2's final days

Brock Lesnar - We'll see in the coming weeks if this guy has the stuff or not

Lance Storm - I wish he would win it.........but when you're jobbing to Val Venis and Godfather on a regular basis, you're in trouble

Regal - The company has been giving him belts and tons of mic time over the past year. I wouldn't be surprised if he won. Plus he'd do a great job playing the role of "King Regal."

I dont like Test but i watched an old royal rumble the other day and when he came in he got a loud pop. But that was when HHH stole his wife, broke his nose every week with DX, and then he was buried for the next 2 years. Ever since then nobody cared about him except the bookers.

The KOTR crown has become pretty insignificant, so I could see them awarding it to Maven to promote TE2.  I don't think that is so wrong.

I'd say Lesnar wins it.  Have him just tear through his competition--not squashes or anything, but definitely have him look incredibly dominant against what I'd assume to be stronger opponents than usual.  Then, after he wins, have Heyman cut a promo like Austin did after winning it in '96:  Lay out the mission, and let the fans know that Brock Lesnar's time has come.  As most of the other potential winners this year either don't need it or don't deserve it, this seems like the best case scenario.

I think everyone is forgetting that Eddie Guerrero may be back in The wwf by that time, so i think he's gonna get it. Benoit and RVD will probably end up with it, but Guerrero would be a great choice, and think of him as the Cruiser champ at the time, that would give the belt some credability right?

Eddie would make a great choice, if he can stay sober.  WWF has to think about that before pushing him.

Brock would make an excellent choice.

So, who wins the political game this year, really? Shane (Test) Heyman (Lesnar, Rhyno) or Nash (Waltman)?
