Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 11, 2003 I also agree with Bubble Boy, it was so absurd and different that I had to like it. The critics complete and utter thrashing of that film killed any slim chance of Bubble Boy being a success. The majority of people that would've been drawn to Bubble Boy by the trailers aren't the types that listen to the critics. The trailer made it look completely retarded on the level of The Hot Chick, so those wanting to see it based on the trailers are fans of terrible movies and likely think very little about critics. So critics ripping the movie apart didn't kill it's chances of being a success. It's not like someone with good taste in movies saw the trailer and said "that looks good" then changed their minds when the critics ripped it. Despite hearing some people say good things about it I still don't want to see Bubble Boy.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted June 11, 2003 BUBBLEBOY! I also liked Josie, but I've got a thing for Rachael Leigh Cook, so that's part of it.
Guest Michael Joel Benoit Report post Posted June 13, 2003 The "Bubble Boy" movie trailer used "Get What You Give" by New Radicals as the background song. And since "Get What You Give" is probalby my favorite song ever that's the only good thing that I can think of relating to "Bubble Boy". I happened to find "Jeepers Creepers" decent. My cousin, who is OBSESSED with Horror movies, forced me to watch it and I found it alright. I wouldn't watch it again, but atleast I didn't find it wretched like I originally thought. Adam 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 Legally Blonde was surprisingly really good, as was Josie and the Pussycats
Guest Si82 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 "Old School" surprised me. I thought it was going to be another crappy comedy but I actually really enjoyed it. I also went to see "Evolution" and "Swordfish" not expecting much and enjoying both of them.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2003 Add 'Spy Kids' to my list. When I rented it, I just fast-forwarded through most of the movie except for the scenes with Floop. [] The movie is being played pretty much all month long on Showtime, so to tape Floop's parts on my newly-made Alan Cumming tape, I had to watch the whole movie. While the usual lame kid jokes were aplently, it really wasn't that bad. 'Course, without Alan, it'd be a total waste
Guest ElectricRaccoon Report post Posted June 16, 2003 Saw Old School last night, and that movie was better than it had any right to be. I thought I was going to piss myself laughing at several points Spoiler (Highlight to Read): especially right at the end, when Blue's angel is singing "Dust in the Wind". Funniest thing I've seen in a movie in a while.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted June 16, 2003 I liked Old School enough. I think Will's the only one who really had me laughing hard though.
Guest NCJ Report post Posted June 18, 2003 Rented Old School just because of this thread and was surprised that I liked it alot. The first Mortal Kombat, Clerks, usually Julia Roberts movies: i.e. My Best Friends Wedding, Nothing Hill, and Pretty Woman. And unfortunately My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Guest Mikey2Dope Report post Posted June 23, 2003 The Ring for sure. I was expecting a crappy unscary horror movie. Boy was I mistaken. But most definately the most shockingly good movie I've seen in the last bit would be Death To Smoochy. I was expecting a film more horrendous than you could imagine but ended up absolutely loving it. Robin Williams was a fuckin' blast to watch.
Guest justsoyouknow Report post Posted June 23, 2003 I second Death to Smoochy, and I'm also going to have to nominate Frailty. Hillbilly demon slayers = gold!
Guest Ripper Report post Posted June 23, 2003 Frailty and Fight Club both. Niehter of those movies gave you ANYTHING in the commercials so I had a very vague idea about the plot of them. I thouhg that fight club would just be a bunch of white guys beating the shit outta each other and i thought that Frailty just looked stupid. I was REALLy wrong on both accounts and I own them both on DVD now. I love those movies.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 23, 2003 Concerning Fight Club. From the trailers I saw what looked to be a weird movie that starred Brad Pitt. I love Brad Pitt playing weird roles so I was sold on the movie from the start.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted June 23, 2003 Men In Black II. I was surprised by how fun it actually WAS. I heard nothing but bad for this movie, so when I saw it, I was expecting shit. I got a piece of limburger cheese, which is still stinky, but edible.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2003 Catch Me If You Can From the commercials it looked pretty boring and I heard a lot of negative things. I finally saw it on PPV and I surprise by how fun it was.
Guest kingkamala Report post Posted June 24, 2003 Screwed starring Norm McDonald and Dave Chappelle(With Sherman Helmsley to boot!). Sure with that cast it's hard to go wrong but I was a bit hesitant after it came and left the theaters within two weeks. I saw it a few weeks back and I thought it was a damn good comedy with some good plot twists.

Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Report post Posted June 25, 2003 I have to agree with Kung Pow. The trailer made it look awful, but it was absolutely hilarious.
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Tears of The Sun was 10X better then it had any right to be, I found myself getting pretty misty at certain parts in it. Old School went far beyond what I was expecting for what appeared to be a normal, stupid comedy. Lord of the Rings, FOTR absolutely blew me away when I first saw it. I hadn't read the books so I didn't know what to expect but I left the theatre on cloud nine, thinking I'd seen one of the best films of all time. Haven't seen anything since then that could convince me otherwise.

Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted June 25, 2003 This one could be unknown to several people, damn. Ginger Snaps. Its an horror movie about the Wolfman myth. I dont want to spoil that why Im not telling more. Two unknown teen girls. Mimi Rodgers is the mother. We just began to see the movie to avoid boredom, and it is a good movie, some sexy shots from one of the girls, nice FX. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): OK, the monster sucks, but hey, its not a X Zillion FX movie it looks like a independient movie. Here is the review from secondspin.com Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Review: IN THEATRES: OCTOBER 26, 2001 COMING TO HOME VIDEO: OCTOBER 23, 2001 Brigitte (Emily Perkins) and Ginger (Katharine Isabelle) are unusual sisters. For a school project they take pictures of each other in various suicide poses that look frighteningly realistic. No other students will talk to them. Ginger is almost sixteen, Brigitte a year younger, but they are in the same classes, and neither of them has gotten her period yet. They do virtually everything together--in fact, their motto is "Together Forever"--until one night Ginger gets attacked by the Beast of Bailey Downs, which previously had been killing and eviscerating dogs. And Ginger then begins to change.... John Fawcett's debut feature film is everything a good horror film should be--creepy, weird, oddly funny, sexy, and very bloody, with its conclusion taking place on Halloween night. Michael Shields's moody score lofts above every scene like dark shadows about to envelop the characters. Perkins and Isabelle are outstanding as the two morbid Fitzgerald sisters with a taste for death. This independent Canadian production also stars Mimi Rogers as the mother who can't wait for her daughters to menstruate. Legally Blonde is funny too. TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2003 I'll probably get flamed but 2 Fast 2 Furious I just saw it and god damn I was entertained. Not a good movie by any means but it kept me entertained and that's all I ask for from that type of movie.
