To be honest, the people who are scared to go to the Coliseum are pussies. Yes, it is a questonable part of town. People still went to the Forum in Inglewood and nothing happened. People went the Sports Arena. Hell people go to the Staples Center. I mean its our city. You shouldnt be afraid no matter what the area is. But thats just me. The area by the Coliseum is bad anyway. USC is close, so are the museums and Expostion Park, and Downtown so it isnt a bad part of town per se. To me at least.

Pacific Time Zone rules buddy! We get the NFL at 10am and it ends at 4pm. The late games come on at 5pm and last till 8pm. The NBA Finals start at 6pm. Baseball doesnt go past nine here. Dont get mad because you have to stay up past your bed time! :P

Dont get me started on the Lakers now, save that for another thread.

If a team has to move to LA, idrather it be the Chargers. After all the Chargers orginated in LA, so it wouldnt be dumb like the Vikings o rthe Colts. The LA Colts

Yup. Brian Griese is apparently his replacement (and in my opinion should replace Jay Fiedler)

Griese shouldn't replace him until next year at the earliest.

Feidler may not be an amazingly talented QB with a cannon arm, but the Dolphins play well when he's starting and fall apart when he doesn't. A qb they have played well with shouldn't be replaced by a struggling QB who needs to prove himself. Not to mention the fact that Griese is in a different system that he needs to learn.

I'm sure Miami will give Griese a shot to win the starting job this season, but unless he amazes the coaches he should be named the backup for at least this season. Next season after Griese is comfortable with the system Miami should have a wide open QB race and name the best QB as starter.

I am excited. Until my A's show they won't choke in the playoffs, I am too non-chalant about baseball.

I hope the Skins can finally get that WildCard berth that has been eluding them by 1-2 games over the past 4 years....aaaaah.

Well lets see..

Ravens will have an awesome defense with Suggs. Will Boller be the key to get the offense working? Im skeptical at best, but at least the defense should keep them in games.

They could easily win the division, the Browns and Steelers did nothing really to improve, and it makes me happy that the Steelers would put their faith in Maddox and dump Stewart.

And it will be another crap filled year in Washington. All these moves in the offseason and they'll stiill be lucky to go 7-9 again. I liked Ramsey last year, but he's not going to lead them anywhere in his 2nd year.

Speaking of Pacific Time Zone, it's great for college football. I get up at 9 or 10, there's a game going. And with the Pac-10 they usually have evening games around 6 PM or so. So it's almost 12 hours nonstop of college football. And just as icing on the cake, Fox Sports Net will usually air a Hawaii game around 10 or so which will go till midnight.

Outlook:

Jacksonville...Not sure how to read this team. Didn't like the draft (no #2 reciever drafted, taking Leftwich and creating QB controversy) but there's still some decent talent around. I guess I'll call it at 8-8 for now and see how the season develops.

UCLA...With a new coach and uncertanity at the QB spot, yet with a lot of talent coming back, my goal for them is to equal last year's record (8-4). I think they can do it too, depending on how Dorrell coaches and how well the starting QB (Olson/Moore) performs. The other goal I have for them is to either beat USC or at least make it a close game, since it's been pretty fucking ridiculous the last few years.

Actually Vitamin X, I was born in Los Angeles but moved to the Santa Clarita Valley two years ago. But thats not the point. A bunch of people in LA LOVE the Raiders but hate Al Davis which is understandable. I went ta lot of LA Raider games in the old Coliseum back in the day. Even though they moved almost 10 years ago (its been that long) and will always bn a fan. I tried to like the Chargers but the suck and i really hate them. I never liked the Rams.

People in LA want the NFL, but they are jaded thanks to the Rams and Raiders. We dont want another Al Davis or a Georgia Frontirere threating to move every 10 years. We dont want a shitty team from another market. We also dont want to be jerked around by the Coliseum commission everytime a good deal comes around. we also dont want a stadium to be built from money from the taxpayers. We want an expansion francise with a stadium built by private funds. Is that too much to ask.

To all you LA bashers, doubt smeof you even been down here, but we are very passionte about our sports. Its funny that outsiders can say what LA is all about. You guys say that we are wishy-washy. If so, why do the Dodgers average 3 million every single year. Why do the Lakers and Kings sell-out constantly? Even the Clippers. And dont give me the excuse that we sho up late. Try driving the 405, the 5 and the 10 freeways during rush hour. I just think you guys ar jealous because LA has such a rich sports tradition

HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT.

I'm from Santa Clarita, I have been raised there for the past decade or so, until just moving here to Miami about 3 months ago.

So yes, I understand the LA thing, I was speaking to you as a fellow Angelino not as an outsider, buddy.

Oh and LAKERMANIA~! runs wild in LA, for all those who don't know. Go around the freeways at rush hour during playoffs, and you'll see tons of cars with Laker flags.

I can't wait for football to start. I hate baseball, and the summer is VERY boring when it comes to sports, unless there is Olympics or Soccer.

Niners will win it all this year. Well I can hope, but they will really win it in 2 years. They have a young defense, which will come right around for the 2004 or 2005 season.

Get this: the NFL is trying to get YET ANOTHER franchise in LA. Haven't they learned their damn lesson yet? People in LA won't go to NFL games, ESPECIALLY if the team sucks.

I've heard about that, already.

I think it's quite funny they're even gonna bother with LA again.

Niners will win it all this year.

I hope so.

I'm dying for football to start ... with hockey over I have absolutely no reason to watch Sportscenter. What the hell else is on in the mornings?!? I think that making the playoffs in the AFC is going to be a bitch again: the East and West will be a dog fight and have pretty even records, so the Wild Cards will come from the divisions with weaker teams that can be counted for two automatic wins.

Its funny that the NFL need LA more than LA needs the NFL. Why is it such a bad idea for the NFL to tap into the nations second largest television market. Makes sense to me.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

just as a random little note, Pro Football Weekly this week has articles about Charlie Rogers, Suggs, Dallas Clark, Nick Barret, and Troy Polamanu as thier "Impact Rookies" for the year.

And supposedly two words can sum up Jimmy Kennnedy's camp so far: "Fat" and "Bad"

Exactly. The area around the Coliseum may be shady but you're right near the 110. It's not like you have to drive through downtown. When you're on campus at SC, you'd have no idea you're in the middle of the bad part of town.

For me... I'm hoping we can settle our qb questions and build on last year's success. We should just toss it over to Mike Williams every play and let the D carry us for the most part. Hopefully Herschel Dennis can handle the many carries he'll get.

I'm also interested to see how the Domers do. They've got Julius Jones back... so it could be lights out for everyone else. ND/SC will be epic.

I think they can do it too, depending on how Dorrell coaches and how well the starting QB (Olson/Moore) performs.

What about my buddy Sciarra?

I am pretty excited for football season this year as well. The Marvin Lewis regime will hopefully have us competitive this year. No way should Carson Palmer start this year. If Kitna becomes worthless, then it is time to put in Shane Matthews. Too many Cincinnati QBs have been ruined before there careers even got started, don't make the same mistakes with Carson. (I don't think they will either, there are already signs they are doing it the right way).

There is no way the Niners will win it all this year. What have they done to get better? As far as I can tell they have only gotten worse (their switch at Head Coach).

I'm very excited about football season. It'll be interesting to see if the change of scenery was all Jake Plummer needed, and whether he can lead the Broncos back to the playoffs. Of course, he'll have to do it winning games 35-31 with that defence, but it'll be entertaining.

Plus, I want to see which team I'll be rooting to go 0-16. DAMMIT, I WANT A PERFECT SEASON!! IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK???

Well thank goodness they do not want to expand anymore. But if you were in LA wouldn't you be more supportive to an expansion team rather than some other city's team?

Speaking of cities wanting teams, what a great investment on the Alamodome in San Antonio. For their investment they got the Spurs for a couple years, the Pope, and some rodeos. And with Houston getting the Texans I highly doubt San Antonio could support a relocated team now. But I thought Red McCombs would have moved the Vikings by now.

What about my buddy Sciarra?

Sciarra is the third stringer. They brought him in during the Cal game last year when Paus and Olson got hurt, and he didn't look that impressive. The next week they took the redshirt off Moore. Pretty much the job is between Olson and Moore.

You know Sciarra?

Dennis looked good in the limited time he got last year. IIRC, isn't he rather small? That may come into question if he's going to be taking a pounding. What USC is very lucky they have right now is a very good offensive line. Winston Justice is a stud, one of the best tackles in the Pac-10 and he's just a sophomore.

ND lost their entire offensive line and their one playmaker (Battle), so getting Jones back is a big boost.

First off LAKERMAINIA~! Only lasts until they have a losing season or two.

Raiders ARE indeed Ghey.

Bengals should win 4-5 games.

Ravens should also win 4-5 games! (Or at least I WANT them too because Pats need their 1st round pick to be nice and high next year.

It'll be a lot easier for the Bengals to improve than to get worse.

I'm curious to see how the Steelers will blow their season this year...

Yeah, we went to HS together... and I've actually known him since we were 6.

Objectively speaking, I think John's arm is better than the other 2. Yeah, he had a tough start. But look at what he did late in the SC game... 5/7 67 yds. and a TD, easily the Bruins best drive that day. I had read he had a good spring.

I can't wait for the season to begin. It was a little bit easier to go without football while Hockey & Basketball was going on [i don't care about the NBA finals this year], but now all I have until August is the Brewers [sigh]. Anyways, I'm hoping the Packers don't have nearly as many injuries last year, and that they can somehow solve their postseason problems.

Maybe they should find a way to fix their REGULAR season problems. Farve or No Farve this team isnt exactly a top contender anymore.

That won't happen. The Cowboys defensive is too good.
