TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 What movie when you're bored or got nothing to do you could pop in and watch the teststerone. Doesn't even have ot be a good movie, but a movie just for guys. Predator - One liners. Action. Arnie. Jesse the Body. Everything a growing boy needs. Oh yah and the kick ass support from Bill Duke, Carl Weathers and Sonny f'n Londham. Quotes: "I aint got time to bleed" and "If it bleeds we can kill it" are cultural landmarks IMO. Nothing's more manly than that.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Army of Darkness. Better One-Liners, Good Action, Bruce Campbell yelling at the locals. "What's that on your face?" *Shovels dirt*
Guest Crucifixio Jones Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Heh. I was gonna say another Bruce Willis movie, "The Last Boy Scout." One-liners galore in that flick. And for one-liners, what's greater than "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane"?
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Evil Dead 2, I prefer the first actually but for pure guy'ness, I shall go with 2. I'll stick Starship Troopers up there as well as it's essentially a lot of guns, shit blowing up and gratuitous tits.
Guest godthedog Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 gotta go with fight club. it's ALL ABOUT THE MANLINESS, and also fulfills the one-liners quota.
Guest Mole Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 One of the worst movies ever but, The Fast and the Furious. Mummy Returns
Guest starvenger Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 I'd say any Bruce Lee movie (excluding Game of Death) but that all depends if bad dubbing is your thing. Definitely fills the ass-kicking quotient, though. Hard Boiled probably works here as well...
B. Brian Brunzell Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Army of Darkness is a great guy flick. "Alright. LIsten up you primitive screwheads." You can't beat that shit. Animal House is another great guy movie. It's Belushi at his best. And Matheson is fab as Otter.
Guest Vyce Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 I can go along with "Army of Darkness" & "Fight Club". Als, "Big Trouble in Little China". Total guy flick.
Guest razazteca Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Whatever the movie is it must MUST have Joe Bob Briggs do the intro for it or at least commentary.
Guest Downhome Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 I'll name one that hasn't been mentioned yet. Reservoir Dogs --- "Are you gonna bark all day, little doggy, or are you going to bite?" Fucking gold. I think all of the Quentin Tarantino directed films would fall under this category.
Guest Downhome Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Whatever the movie is it must MUST have Joe Bob Briggs do the intro for it or at least commentary. He's done commentary on DVDs?
Guest Ravenbomb Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 AOD has more of a 'Guy movie' feel to it than ED2 I was gonna say Fight Club, but for some reason I didn't...weird...
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 The Longest Yard; what is more manly than Burt Reynolds playing football in prison?
Guest razazteca Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Whatever the movie is it must MUST have Joe Bob Briggs do the intro for it or at least commentary. He's done commentary on DVDs? I mark for his old TNT show, as for DVD commentary well I don't know about that, I wish it was true.
Guest Downhome Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Whatever the movie is it must MUST have Joe Bob Briggs do the intro for it or at least commentary. He's done commentary on DVDs? I mark for his old TNT show, as for DVD commentary well I don't know about that, I wish it was true. Damnit, he should though! I know I'd be in line to pick whatever it is he did up, heh. I watched, and loved, his show on TNT also.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Joe Bob Briggs had a show on the Movie Channel before that. Lord, why did they take him off of TNT?
Guest godthedog Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 briggs is actually quite the film scholar. he's got a really really intelligent article about 'shaft' & blaxploitation in 'cineaste', and it floored me. he even mentions sweet sweetback's baad asssss song!
Guest Boomer Sprinklespax Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Fight Club is, for me, the ultimate guy movie. Other than that, the Mad Max trilogy is pretty darned manly, especially the last two.
Guest razazteca Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Back to the subject. The ultimate "Guy" movie is Clockwork Orange. 1. Ultra Violence 2. The ins and outs 3. Righty Right, Drooges, Gov'nor and other great one liners
Guest godthedog Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 wait...i change my answer. 'sweet sweetback's baad asssss song' is the ultimate guy movie.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 I just know Joe Bob Briggs has done a commentary for something, but can't think of what movie it was for the life of me. I agree with Army of Darkness and most of the other movies mentioned, and I just thought I'd say that my friends and I had a hell of a time watching Old School in theatres when it came out and on DVD last night. Sure, it's new, but funny as hell.
Guest Downhome Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 I just know Joe Bob Briggs has done a commentary for something, but can't think of what movie it was for the life of me. I just went to his webpage (for the first time), and it says he has a commentary track on the I Spit On Your Grave Millennium Edition DVD. He's also starting a new line of DVDs entitled Joe Bob Briggs Presents... This should be fun as hell, here it is from his webpage... With all the serious, real-life action taking place on television recently, it’s time to take a brief break and have some classic, cult movie fun. So pop that good old-fashioned drive-in movie popcorn and join cult film icon Joe Bob Briggs as Elite Entertainment premieres its Joe Bob Briggs Presents…….. series with “Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter.” The disc will be available on July 1st at a suggested retail price of $19.95. “In the cult film world, no critic or fan is more popular than Joe Bob Briggs,” said Vini Bancalari, president, Elite Entertainment. “Reaction to his commentary on the ‘I Spit On Your Grave Millennium Edition’ DVD has been tremendous, and there’s no question cult film buffs everywhere will be waiting to hear what Joe Bob has to say next.” “Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter” (1966) tells the tale of the Old West’s legendary outlaw, who is on the run from Marshall MacPhee. While hiding out with his slow-witted pal Hank in the castle of Baron Frankenstein’s granddaughter Maria, Jesse watches with shock, amazement and confusion as Maria transforms Hank into a bald zombie, whom she conveniently dubs “Igor.” The disc features the original theatrical trailer, as well as audio commentary by Joe Bob Briggs, the primary feature of each title in the series. “Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter” was written by Carl K Hittleman and directed by William Baudine. Street Date: July 1st, 2003 Order Date: June 3rd, 2003 Retail Price: $19.95 Catalog #: EE5227 Running Time: 88 Minutes ...looks like I have something else to spend money on.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 I'd pay for Mole of this forum to do commentaries of his favorite movies and distribute them to us all in mp3 format. I swear to God it'd be a valued keepsake.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 One my of my favorite guy movies is the football movie "The Program". Every guy I've watched it with loves it, whereas every chick I've ever heard comment on it thinks it's violent, testosterone-filled garbage.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 , Carl Weathers and Sonny f'n Londham. Quotes: "I aint got time to bleed" and "If it bleeds we can kill it" are cultural landmarks IMO. Nothing's more manly than that. Watch the scene where Ventura says that line. There's really nothing to that line. He doesn't say the line any different than he would any other line. Sorry, but for me that's an all time overrated line. The way people say it know is better than how Ventura said it in the movie.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 "On the Line" starring Lance Bass. Wait a second... nevermind... I was trying to think of something recent for this category and the most recent I could think of was "Transporter", but still, not sure if that is as great as most of the others already mentioned. I was just trying to think has there been anything good for this category in a while?
Guest SweetNSexyDiva Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 I guess I can see how "Fight Club" is considered a guy movie, but I personally LOVE that movie. I must have seen it a million times! Brad Pitt oiled up and naked is reason enough... ..but the premise of the movie is so.... cool!
