What was the best Hardcore match?

Best champion is Crash Holly. His reign is the only time in the title's history that it wasn't anything more than a worthless hunk of tin.

Really??? I thought Crash's reign ruined the whole division with the constant switches that basically gave reigns to Pete Gas and Viscera ... but only for about six seconds apiece. It just turned into a greta big comedy act that never really went anywhere and blew the seriousness of the stipulation out of the water.

Eventually, yes. But for the first couple months of Crash's reign he had the title more over than at any other point in its history. It was a joke title to begin with. RVD was over in 2001, but the title was an afterthought which was far below RVD at that point. The best of the serious champions was Rhyno by a long shot.

I really liked Rob Van Dam Vs. Tommy Dreamer on RAW when the WWE unified the WWE Intercontinental Championship & the Hardcore Championship into one title. I was just looking at it as if it was a big deal, and the match turned out good. I knew that Dreamer & RVD could go though, they are two of the reasons why I used to follow ECW.

 

So, that would have to be my favorite Hardcore Title match. If we're just talking about Hardcore matches in general, Shane McMahon Vs. Kurt Angle at King of the Ring pretty much falls into that category, and I would have to give that match the nod.

 

As far as Hardcore Champions go, I really liked Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer, Crash Holly & Road Dogg. Blackman was alright too, but he was just too bland personality wise. Tommy Dreamer made the belt seem important. RVD just used the title as a reason to get onto PPV's. Road Dogg didn't seem like he should've been hardcore, and Crash was all comedy all the time. So, I guess I would say Tommy Dreamer was the best champ.

Your memory is going. It was originally created to put over the Mankind/McMahon relationship. McMahon gave Mick this battered old belt that he probably found in the trash somewhere, slapped some tape on it and called it that Hardcore Championship, which Mick then treated like it was a gift from God. He then lost it to Bossman soon after. It was always intended to be a joke. The real tribute occurred when Foley beat Rock for the WWF Title in December.

It was wasn't a joke title to begin with? Even Foley himself has said it was just meant as a joke.

 

As for the best hardcore match, I'd say either RVD/Jericho or Al Snow/Road Dog.

 

As for best champ, no one really stands out to me, so I'll just say no comment.

I seem to remember an RVD/Jericho PPV match for the HC title on the line of all things...All they used was a chair and a ladder, no garbage weapons. Also, the Al Snow match that went into the Mississippi River in the dead of winter. I was in 7th grade and that was the coolest thing since sliced bread...errr...Hell in a cell from that summer.

All the Bossman-Alsnow and Holly-Al Snow matches were good, but I would have to go with Raven-Rhyno.

 

RVD was the best Hardcore champ though.
