Guest Redhawk Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Just like the similar thread on Chris Benoit. What do you think is in store for Maven, and/or what could be done to make him a star? (if he ever will be one.) I think if Tough Enough gets canceled there won't be anymore motivation for WWE to make something out of Maven or any of the TE kids, since they won't have to attract future TE contestants. So he might be screwed now. Although I think Maven could be a decent babyface character.
Guest Coffey Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 I don't think that Maven can go anywhere. He will always be the "kid that won Tough Enough." It will haunt him his entire professional wrestling career. Especially if he keeps that generic ass entrance.
ChrisMWaters Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 If Maven learns how to work the Stick and learns a few good signature moves besides the "Mavenkick" (AKA MIssile Dropkick...or standing if you wanna use the one he eliminated Taker from a Royal RUmble with)...he could get some potential. ...watch them stick Maven with Theodore Long...

Guest raptor Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 He's continuing to improve, so that's a good sign. Plus, he's a homemade talent so he'll probably get a lot of chances until he gets over. Perhaps Intercontinental Champion/Midcarder, and if he keeps getting better, then he could be a top guy someday.
ChrisMWaters Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 You mean the Tough Enough music? I like that song, yes. I don't think it was on either of the Tough Enough albums... Hell, I don't even know it's title or who sings it. ^^;
Bored Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 How about I don't give a shit. Now let's all have ice cream.
Guest AndrewTS Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 He's decent, but nothing noteworthy. No unique look besides the eyebrows, kinda small, not mind-blowing in the ring, can't cut a decent promo. Job Squad 4 Life.
Guest Trivia247 Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 kinda sad that the first male winner of tough enough langishes but the tough enough Loser Prospers
Garth Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 I think i'd be more down with Maven if they gave something even resembling a finisher.
Guest razazteca Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Send him to OVW to learn how to use a loaded glove or something else completly useless. Just keep him off Raw as long as possible, let him be the "star" of Heat so Hurricane and Stevie can do something worth while on Raw.
Guest wildpegasus Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Maven's young and athletic. He's got that going for him. I think it's a little too early in his career to really know how far he'll go. I think he's got the potential to go places especially if has good teachers. We'll see.
Murmuring Beast Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Tell him to take some time off and bring him back, helping someone out other than Al Snow.
Guest Steviekick Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Send him to OVW to learn how to use a loaded glove or something else completly useless. Just keep him off Raw as long as possible, let him be the "star" of Heat so Hurricane and Stevie can do something worth while on Raw. Damn skippy. Maven really doesn't contribute anything really, so I don't see him having much of a future, especially with Tough Enough seeming to be finished. It's a combination of there not being much for him to do as well as him not being that good. I think he's not going to be resigned, most likely let go, and go back to being a teacher. With a unabrow.
Guest Army Eye Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 I never watched TE but after seeing them in WWE, I'm amazed that Maven beat out Chris Nowinski on the show. I don't see how they're even in the same universe.
Guest Vyce Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 While I agree that Nowinski has more of a chance to "make it" in the business than Maven, I don't think Maven is useless....I actually think he HAS improved, and I think there is definitely the potential there for him to have a fairly successful career (although "potential" is at best an odious word). His main problem: he's too generic. He needs to have some sort of a gimmick or personality that the fans can get behind. Nowinski, at least, has good charisma and a gimmick that guarantees (at the least) some cheap heel heat.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 he needs to find a partner and join the tag ranks. He has no success in sight as a singles competitor.
Guest Mik at Cornell Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 I loved Maven on Tough Enough. I thought he was miles ahead of the other competitors. How wrong I turned out to be is another matter. His theme music does rock (and for whomever asked it's Tattoo by Big Mother Thruster) and I think he has a decent look. He needs A) A finisher and B) Some promo work I think he could be something...although not in the near future.
Guest Sturgis Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 I think he should join Theadore Long's group. I even has rhyme for him: "Crave the Mave".
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 You mean the Tough Enough music? I like that song, yes. I don't think it was on either of the Tough Enough albums... Hell, I don't even know it's title or who sings it. ^^; It's "Around the Stars" by Hoshal.....or 'Tattoo' by Big Mother Thruster, depending on who you ask. I have these two songs courtesy of Kazaa, and it's the same file twice, so draw your own conclusions, I guess.
Guest Memoirs of an Invisible Chevy Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Maven lacks the ability to actually play a various range of characters.
Guest Lil Naitch Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 He needs a finisher, STAT. Come on everybody, think up a finisher for him. I used to think the Diamod cutter, but then Orton stole it first;)

Guest Raven_Effect01 Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 He has a finisher. Top Rope Dropkick. It's an odd finisher though because it's one of Chris Jericho's signature moves that he sometimes uses MID-match, not as a finisher.

It's an odd finisher though because it's one of Chris Jericho's signature moves that he sometimes uses MID-match, not as a finisher. So? Some people use the Superkick as a mid-match move, and Michaels uses THAT as a finisher. Why should the Mavenkick be any different?
Guest razazteca Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Booker T does it better. Maven should use the Mav(Garvin) Stomp, Big Boot, Leg Drop combo finisher.
Guest Raven_Effect01 Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 So? Some people use the Superkick as a mid-match move, and Michaels uses THAT as a finisher. Why should the Mavenkick be any different? A lot of other WWE wrestlers were using the superkick as a mid-match move around the Invasion era in 2001, before Michaels came back to the ring. That is, unless The Hurricane and Lance Storm still use the move mid-match. Chuck Palumbo doesn't count because he uses it as a finisher as far as I know like Michaels does. Correct me if you've noticed otherwise.
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Maven should wrestle cruisers and use a Schoolboy Buster
