Yuna_Firerose Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 In another thread, most said this movie wasn't that bad. So, of course I'm insanely curious as to what everyone thought of it. Insanely curious.... or just insane. Doesn't matter.
Guest DawnBTVS Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 I thought it was a decent and at times, cute flick. It was somewhat over the top which added quite a bit in my eyes.
Guest Marshall Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Not great. Very boring, generic, 2 dimensional, characters. Just a really normal kids movie with stuff that we've seen before.
Guest fazzle Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 My review: It was ass, but at least it had hot chicks. Fully clothed hot chicks, however. D
Guest SP-1 Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 LOL, I have to wonder if anyone picked up on the blatant and intentional ways that the movie made fun of itself. There's product placement EVERYWHERE. They were outright mocking themselves. Good movie for that alone.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Alexander Cabot: I don't understand why they let you come. Alexandra Cabot: Because I was in the comic book. Alexander Cabot: What? Alexandra Cabot: Nothing.
Guest welshjerichomark Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 I thought it was quite clever. It's a cute little film; funny, inoffensive, entertaining. Does exactly what it says on tin. Oh and Tara Reid is hot. (she was in it wasn't she?)
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 That's probably the only film that I liked Tara Reid in; she played her role to perfection.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 bits of it were funny, like the fact that the boy band wore their head set microphones on the plane, and them landing in the parking lot of the Metallica Concert and getting beaten up, and the aforementioned comic book line. It needed more of that stuff, and This Is Spinal Tap, in it.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 It's worth getting the DVD for the boy band videos alone.
Yuna_Firerose Posted June 14, 2003 Author Report Posted June 14, 2003 Du Juor had videos?! *screams all teenyish* I swear it's the subliminal messages but... Du Juor was fuckin' hot! Then again, so was Wyatt... *double *
Guest Youth N Asia Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 It's cute enough. But if anyone but Rachael Leigh Cook was the lead I would have passed on it.
Guest subliminal_animal Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 I've never seen the whole thing, but I loved it. I really found Tara Reid endearing, but it was kind of depressing since I hear she's a real bitch in actuality. Plus she's a skeeze. There's pictures of her on the bottom with Meg Ryan, naked and doing it with all my favorite stars! And "Three Small Words" was a great song. I hope Rachel Leigh Cook is really that cool, otherwise I'll be even more depressed. Enough to need a pill.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 I liked "Pretend to be Nice" enough to where I Kazaa'd it. Better song then any of the teen girl put out these days.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Nice little movie that made fun of poseurs, because it really was one huge 90-minute "stop being a poseur" PSA.
Guest fazzle Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 And "Three Small Words" was a great song. Yeah, I uh, I downloaded the entire soundtrack and it was in my regular rotation for a while. Shut up.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Du Jour rocks. That is all.
Guest imajackoff? Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 I thought it was a pretty smart movie disguised as a stupid teen flick. It certainly has a great take on consumerism in America. Also, the movie turned me into the raging Rosario Dawson mark that I am today. Oh.. and Dujour means "crash position".

Yuna_Firerose Posted June 15, 2003 Author Report Posted June 15, 2003 DuJuor means seatbelts! Actually... doesn't DuJuor mean "of the day", as in, "Band Of The Day"...or something like that?
Guest SP-1 Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Yeah that's pretty much what the underlying gag is.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 As mentioned before, one huge "stop being posers" movie with funny in gags and the general mocking of the typical TRL fan. I enjoyed it.

Oh.. and Dujour means "crash position". you mean you didn't turn into a rosario dawson mark from 'kids', where she talked about how bad semen tastes? i thought that was everyone's starting point.
Guest SweetNSexyDiva Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 The first time I saw it I thought it sucked, but it has grown on me. One of my guilty pleasure movies...lol... I love these teenie bopper flicks!
