Meh. Did you expect a list that without too many pop songs that nobody cares for anymore?

When they put Smells Like Teen Spirit on top, I knew we were in trouble.

I like the song, but it's far from being the best of the last 25 years.

It's not even the best Nirvana song. Anyway, a list like this is so ridiculous and arbitrary that I can't believe they'd have the gall to put it together. Best albums is different, because you can at least form something approaching a consensus on that topic. But so many songs are released in a 25 year period that it's not only impossible to listen to all of them but completely unrealistic to think that you can can convince anyone that your list isn't a crock of shit. This list should be titled "The Clairol Herbal Essences® VH1's 100 Favorite Top Ten Hits of the Past 25 Years: Hosted by Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20."

True.

I'm tired of these list of best songs or best artist VH1 makes every few months. Know we can have some special with always available people like Alice Cooper, or Melissa Etheridge talking about what a great song that one is.

This should be called "VH-1 gives BJ's to every artist that it has supported over the past 25 years, even if in reflection they suck".

Fuck, up until like 1999 the only rap/hip-hop video in rotation on VH-1 was "Rapture" by Blondie.

should VH-1 be taking seriously anymore?

No.

The logical thing for Viacom to do is abandon VH-1 and give the channel to MTV2.

I ceased to care about this list the moment I saw "MmmBop" on it. I do like "Nothing But a G Thang" at number 31 though.

Well...what should have been Number 1?

Something that isn't "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

At least Ja Rule didn't make the list.

My #1 song of the past 25 years is I'll Stand By You by The Pretenders. Smells Like Teen Spirit always goes really well in Top Whatever Songs though. I don't honestly know why, but Nirvana only has one song that I think is any good so I'm probably just biased.

I...I just...murder...I. Incoherent. WAUUUUGH.

I hate the giant lists of crap. The only thing I tolerate these days are an occasional Behind the Music, and the I Love The 80's episodes. The latter mostly gets in for Henry Rollins always being there to talk about important things, like Care Bears, "We Are The World," and acid-wash jeans.

But this...list with...murder...redrum...stabbing. NOT ENOUGH PAT BENATAR. NOT ENOUGH WHAM. GOD DAMN YOU VH1. YOU'RE MAKING ME REGRESS. KILLIFICATION.

Wow.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

They do a new one every year, and they stick the 5 most popular songs from the last year in completly random spots.

In like 3 years, there will be no pre 90's songs on this list.

I like the song, but considering who made the list I'd rather have it not be on this list at all.

You think this is bad? Just wait until later this summer when they put out their "200 Greatest Pop Culture Icons of all Time."

I love the 80's was great, THE FIRST 50 TIMES I SAW THE THING.

Well, there's about 7 songs on there I consider listenable, so I guess it's a step up from other lists.

I Can't Go For That

Hall & Oates

Meh, Kiss is on my list is better.

I'm not going to bitch about the list, but I take issue with that opinion. Kiss on My List is Hall and Oates' worst single by far. It's syrupy, overtrite pap even for them. It's your basic generic pop tune without any of their trademark "blue eyed soul" flourishes. I thought Man Eater would make a list like this over I Can't Go For That, which I would put as one of their top five best singles easy. Personally, I prefer She's Gone or Rich Girl, or even the quirky Private Eyes.

even before he died, their influence was huge & they were still the biggest rock band in the world. "teen spirit" would've still cracked the top 5.

Macarena? Yeah it was big for three months, but that's it. Might as well put La Vida Loca up there, too.

Smooth is on there, so at least they got something right.

Oh, and Smells Like Nirvana>Smells Like Teen Spirit>Smells Like Teen Booty

Tears in Heaven should've been higher.

Other than that...the list still sucks.
