LooseCannon25 Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 When it was announced that WWE was going with Split-PPVs i actually got happy about it cause to me it meant that guys like LAnce Storm, Hurricane, Steven Richards, Goldust among others would get PPV matches adn we'd see more guys showcased. In case what we got was the usual cast with some horrendously bad skits from Austin/Bischoff which alone took up about 30 minutes of the show. Would it have been too much to give guys like Storm, Goldust, Richards, Snow, Dreamer, Val Venis and Rico something to do in place of the Redneck Nonsense. With all of the first 4 matches going under 10 minutes they could have easily fit 9 matches on the PPV. I don't know what these guys are thinking, but these skits should not be used on a PPV where people have to pay there hard earned money to watch. It wasnt even good enough for TV nonetheless. For next month instead of showcasing more cruisers they'll probably give us 30 minutes of Mcmahon/Hogan/Gowan. This shit is terrible and WWE is going down the drain faster than you can say WCW.
Crimson Platypus Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Not to mention that it was only 2.5 hours long anyway.
Guest notJames Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 But Sportz Entertainment = RATINGS!!! (Too bad WW_ needed a buyrate instead.)
Guest nikowwf Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 They are so clueless right now its not funny. They got decent to good matches in the top three matches, one of which had Goldberg and one which had Nash and yet the show still sucked cause all the matches were short and they had 97,000 horrific skits and they had some of the worst finish booking (so anitclimatic) they have ever had. niko
LooseCannon25 Posted June 16, 2003 Author Report Posted June 16, 2003 I wanna know why they think they can charge $34.95 for a PPV with half a roster and childs booking
Detective Comics Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 You are absolutely correct Cannon. They have no right to charge nearly 35 dollars for what they showed last night. I honestly think that most Raw shows are better then that. Dubbing burps? C'mon, I'm not 6 years old. And had there been a 6 year old in the room, I doubt he would have enjoyed it. Seriously, why didn't they throw in a Lance Storm or Hurricane match? I hope they realize they made a terrible mistake and take the next 3 months developing some fueds for everyone. Maybe Unforgiven in September will showcase more matches and less nonsense.

Welcome to the general hypocrisy of the roster split. Where no one but the very few established guys get more time while even more talent gets wasted away by the company...
Guest Downhome Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 It is showcasing new guys, it's just guys that many people don't care to see. Just look at RAW, in theory of course, the roster would be passable years ago, it just depends on how you use everyone, and just who you use. Smackdown has enough guys also, it just depends as I said before on who and how you use them.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Let's hope Smackdown will utilize all the their talent more next month...although I doubt it.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Let's hope Smackdown will utilize all the their talent more next month...although I doubt it. Unless we get a Mr. America/Vince McMahon Iron Man Match with Big Show defending the WWE Title against Billy Gunn, it has to be better. Smackdown just has too much talent for it to suck as much as Badd Blood.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 They did showcase new talent last night, at Rodney Mack, Chris Nowinski, and Randy Orton all got wins/played significant roles. The problem with the booking is that no one is booked to be a credible threat, save for the upper echelon (and even then, it's only those certain guys, wink wink). Rodney Mack has squashed a bunch of jobbers, Nowinski has been a Heat staple, and Orton is best known as a Triple H lackey. Not exactly compelling characterization there. At least on Smackdown the newer guys like Cena, O'Haire, Team Angle, etc. have character and personality. They took a random pairing of Eddie Guerrero and Tajiri and let them run with the tag belts, putting on several classic TV matches with Team Angle in the process. At least on that show, you get some semblance of character definition and elevation. Mondays, for the time being, is all about one man.
Guest razazteca Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Le French tag team won but does anybody really care? They have a better personality than say Randy Ortan but I still do not want to see either on tv. Natural Born Thrillers V2 still sucks.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 The best part about the upcoming PPV is that HHH will not be on the card. I honestly can't remember the last time he missed a PPV.
Guest Retro Rob Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Mack, Nowinski, La Resistance and Orton were definitely showcased last night. Just because everyones favorites weren't on the show last night doesn't mean that NO new talent was brought up to the PPV level.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 (edited) I don't really see much of a change. But then again, they are just getting into the split PPV's, so in 6 months there should be. Edited June 16, 2003 by RavishingRickRudo
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 The split has showcased lots of new guys. Batista, Orton, Resistance, Nowinski, Mack, Richards all have gotten lots of exposure. The fact that all the new guys suck, well, that's another problem all together.
Guest Insane Bump Machine Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 The split has showcased lots of new guys. Batista, Orton, Resistance, Nowinski, Mack, Richards all have gotten lots of exposure. The fact that all the new guys suck, well, that's another problem all together. It shows the problem that OVW pretty much sucks when it comes to developing wrestlers. The good thing about OVW are the logical storylines and the old school-ish philosophy. Its weakness is the talent. Too bad that only the weakness gets transfered to the WWE, because god knows we can't have logical storylines in the big leagues. The WWE should really start bringing in some of the great young indy talents by offering them GOOD contracts and pushing them instead of putting the green as hell OVW guys on TV. It'd be worth it. And phase out the WWE style, please. Every newcomer from OVW seems to wrestle the exact same bland style.
