Possible new mutants in X3

News on Beast and others being in X3...

Tom DeSanto, producer of X2: X-Men United, recently spoke out about new mutants which may be included in the third X-Men film.

"Angel - The funny thing about Angel is that he was in several versions of the original X-Men script until very, very late in the game...He was also in quite a few drafts of X-Men 2 and it was ultimately decided that, again, story time was better spent developing other characters like Nightcrawler. So hopefully we'll see him in X-Men 3, but it ultimately comes down to serving the story. Beast - Beast is probably the number one contender who's made it the farthest along in X-Men and X-Men 2. Sentinels - For a while, the Sentinels were in some of the thought processes behind the second movie, but again, it's trying to keep it real and do it right. If they're done, I think they should be in all their 30-foot-tall glory and not walking around human size."

I can't believe it took them two movies to realize that both BEAST AND GAMBIT were not in either movie. They were two of the ORIGINALS, as well. That's pretty sad, I think...

The X Movies need a major dose of the Gambit. But he'd better not be some teenager.

Thank god for that. Honestly though, how can they cram in some more characters? It's hard enough to try and divide the time up evenly between the mutants they have.

Beast actually WAS in X2. Well, technically it was as Henry "Hank" McCoy and just a cameo, but he was still there.

I think you're confusing the comic with the cartoon.

Original X-Men: Angel, Beast, Cyclops, Iceman and Marvel Girl. Chris Claremont apparently did a retcon and made Sage an original student (though not an X-Man) as well.

The All-New, All-Different X-Men: Banshee, Cyclops, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Storm, Sunfire, Thunderbird

Gambit became an official X-Man around X-Men (vol 2) #1, in the 90's, and personally hate the character, so I'd rather he not show up in the movies, ever.

Considering most like Gambit, care to explaiin the Gambit hate? Personally, I don't much either way, except for what I saw in the first two episodes of the 90s cartoon [they have them for rent at a rental store near me].

So was Gambit. His real name appeared when Mystique was at Lady Deathstrike's computer.

wasn't The Dazzler in some of the old stuff, too? I remember a pre-Fox Cartoon cartoon/animated movie of X-Men with The Dazzler in it.

In the comics? No. But, you're right. She was in the pre-Fox X-Men cartoons.

was Marvel Girl the same person as Jean Grey? She was cool until all that Dark Phoenix bullshit on FOX.

and didn't Angel become Archangel? Or were they different? I think the first's wings were feathered and the second's were metal.

I don't know much about the comics themselves. In fact the only one I owned was one from like 1994 about the Phalanx or something. It was pretty gay.

Marvel Girl = Jean Grey, yes.

Angel = originally part of the team

Archangel = Angel under Apocalypse's control. Got metal wings and such.

The Dark Phoenix was bound to happen, anyway. Rather it was in the comics or on the Fox cartoon it was going to happen, anyway. Ghey? Yes.

Sure. He was pretty cool when he debuted, but after AoA he became a wussified character which annoyed me to no end. The entire "3rd Summers brother" storyline was rather inane as well. Anyways, this all added up to me ending up really disliking Gambit...

There was nothing wrong with the Dark Phoenix storyline in the comics and it resulted in one of the most memorable deaths in Marvel history but they flushed it all down the toilet when they decided to bring her back just to launch a new title in X-Factor.

The Dark Phoenix saga bored me. I just didn't like it and it was drawn out forever.

Styfe/Cable/Cyclops/etc./etc. was a much better storyline.

You wanna talk about long and drawn out just take Cable's entire history. But to each their own I guess and I always thought X-Cutioner's Song crossover was a fun read but not exactly a comic masterpiece either.

Hey why no Mr. Sinister or Apocalypse in the new one?

Think of it...an Age of Apocalypse movie...yeah they'd need like 10 movies for it though.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

I would so watch an AoA movie. Epecially for Evil Beast. Actually that little team of Beast, Cyclops, and Havoc working under Sinister fighting Wolvie and Jean was possibly one of my favorite single issues of a comic. awesomeness.

Anyway, I haven't actually seen X2 so I don't know how many others there are, but Gambit, Beast, and Angle are 3 of what people think of as the "main" X Men, so they will probably stick them in there however they can.

I personally loved X-ecutioners song and the release of the Legacy Virus at the end led to some really good books (Multiple Mans death in X-factor being my fav...although I loved the character) I never EVER cared for Cable...but Domino was usually somewhere around him so I could bear with his existance.

The Dark Phoenix saga was great...but as said, they sucked the life out of it by bringing her back...but it did lead to Archangel(my favorite comic character) so all is forgiven.

Apocolypse would be a great villian for one of the films, I just don't see mister Sinister though.

I share in the Gambit hate. He was a ALRIGHT character, but I never really gave 2 shits about him.

And since I am on a rant anyway, I know this is the wrong place to ask but I don't feel like starting a topic...I haven't read comics in a while. What is up with Archangel and Psylocke(my favorite female character). Just a brief history. I stopped reading at the age of apocolypse.

Psylocke's dead and Archangel is now just Angel again after he regrew his feathered wings.

They've been wanting to add Angel in for a while, iirc, so I'm sure he'll be in X3, along with the Danger Room. But Beast? Hmm...I think "Beaut Mute" and "Cute Mute" are enough. [And to add to the useless info, Wolvie's nickname was "Brute Mute"].

If they add more characters, some of the others are bound to get even less air-time.

Question is, who? I'm sure they'll be doing some sort of Fire vs Ice StoryLine. Paquin once mentioned that she hoped for more fight scenes. I don't think they'll abandon the friends-now-enemies thing with Xavier and Magneto. And I'd love for the Nightcrawler-Storm relationship be expanded on.

If anything they should expand on the Nightcrawler-Mystique relationship.

I wouldn't bet on it. They are talking about greatly reducing Storm's role in the next movie, so to expound on that particular angle, you'd probably have to wait til after the Dark Phoenix saga(if that's where they are truly going after X2).

Yeah, that'd be cool. Although after their one scene together, Nighty's tail was swishing a bit too happily. I really don't care what relationship they expand on... as long as Nighty gets more movie time!

From http://www.eonline.com/Features/Features/I...ming/index.html :

I wish they would have explored your relationship with Mystique more.

I know. Nobody told me that Rogue (Anna Paquin) is my sister. Mystique [as Nightcrawler's mother]--go figure. I suppose I should have found that out. It's not a big-brainer. She's blue, I'm blue, maybe we're related in some way.

Rogue's not blue.

She's not blue, but I think Rogue's actually blue underneath but she wears white makeup.

Angle's a mutant? Now THAT explains how he came back from neck surgery in two fricking months... :P

The next film should introduce the Morlocks, the Sentinels, the Legacy Virus, and Dr. Hank McCoy, who will go on to become Beast during the film. The film could begin as tensions between humans and mutants intensify due to a new disease amongst the mutants known as the Legacy Virus. This would lead to the advent of Sentinels as a control tool, and possibly even to Genosha Island, with Bolivar Trask as the main villain. The Morlocks would be natural here as they retreat to the sewers in order to avoid hate-mongering humans altogether. They could perhaps be linked to Dr. Hank McCoy in some way, perhaps having the Legacy Virus in their community and turning to McCoy for help. This would also give Storm more to do, as her role needs to be increased as it was in X2 because Halle Berry won't stay on board for a third film unless she is a main focus. Hank McCoy would be one of the key figures in attempting to cure the Legacy Virus, which would lead to him coming into contact with the X-Men in some way, where it is revealed that McCoy was actually one of Professor Xavier's very first students (only Cyclops would recognize Hank at first, to underscore this point). McCoy would use himself as a guinea pig for a risky new vaccine he has developed for the Legacy Virus, in turn covering his body with blue hair. This would ultimately result in his becoming an outcast in the scientific community and joining the X-Men full time to continue his research and to combat the Sentinels and the forces of Genosha.

The reason the Morlocks need to be in it is to introduce Gambit in the fourth X-Men film, which should contain Mr. Sinister, obsessed as always with Cyclops, as the main villain. I'm not too sure how this would all fit together, but they could preserve the storyline of Gambit possibly being the third Summers brother (although only alluding to it), and Gambit helping slaughter the Morlocks as a job for Sinister (this would not come out until the end, or possibly not until the fifth film). Shit, Gambit could even BE a Morlock in this version, as the Morlocks were thieves and petty criminals just like Gambit. The Thieves' Guild always seemed a bit stupid to me, so I have no problem with this. The Jean clone could also be worked in there somewhere, as a means for Sinister to get close to Scott without him knowing. So could the Jean clone's "heel turn" as The Goblin Queen, which would result in a short version of the Inferno storyline.

For the love of God, NO CABLE.

Anyways, thoughts?

That's WAAAAAY too many things for just a 2 hour flick, Drop. Having the Legacy Virus just come out of left field, the Morlocks, Sentinels, and Breast transforming into his current form is too many unrelated elements for one movie(or probably even two).
