Guest jester Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Ok, hate him or love him, Goldberg doesn't seem to be accomplishing much at WWE (except pissing people off, if the rumors are true). It looks like he is not going wrestle the company's top names for some time, if ever. And he said not to be a huge mark for himself and uncooperative. So what do you think of this suggestion: 1. Build him up, even letting him pin HHH for the title. 2. Endure whatever bullshit he dishes out, and then... 3. Montreal him. LEGIT. No dim-the-lights-Rock/Hogan bullshit. I mean 100% McMahon at his slimiest ring-the-fucking-bell. So like, discuss and stuff. What wrestler gets the big honor? What do you think it would do to the WWE's fortunes? And best of all, how would Goldberg react, given it's said he won't take the slightest bit of criticism without going nuts...
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 It'll sink morale even further. I think we'll see a greater chance of them re-creating the invasion again before they'd do that. I think they could offer Ted Turner a speaking role to set off such a WWE/WCW feud since Turner stepped down from AOL-TW and lost a lot of money on that venture, but he probably also has a lot of Fuck You money to refuse it. But he is a wrasslin' fan, so who knows?
Guest Steviekick Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 I would definitely not go that route in handling Goldberg. I could really see him going nuts and seriously trying to hurt someone after getting Montreal-ed. That's not worth it.
Guest Dangerous A Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Gotta go with JotW on this. Company morale took a nose dive following the Bret screwjob, but signs were there that WWF was going to bounce back, especially since Austin hadn't been elevated yet. Right now, WWE has nothing of the sort on the horizon. Plus with morale being down already because of low payoffs from the dwindling house show business, the last thing the locker room needs is for one of it's biggest contracted guys to get screwed over by the promoter. The only good that could come out of that scenario is the wrestlers may get fed up with Vince's monopoly and other bullshit and finally unionize.
Guest goodhelmet Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 i like the idea. he isn't over. the fans are turning on him at every ppv. any impact he ahs had on attendance, ppv buys, ratings has been minimal. fuck him, he isn't great in the ring either. now, the real problem- said ad nauseum, the writing staff needs to go. it doesnt matter what you od with any of these fucks as long as the useless hacks writing this shit are still in place.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 I would definitely not go that route in handling Goldberg. I could really see him going nuts and seriously trying to hurt someone after getting Montreal-ed. but that's the hook! I'm trying to decide if it would lower morale (because Vince is a cunt) or raise morale (because Goldberg is a cunt). I don't really know. I would laugh though, I know that much.
Guest jester Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Yeah, I think Smell the Ratings has a point there. If the rumors are true, Goldberg ain't a popular fellow with the boys. If McMahon spun it to them as "getting rid of the troublemaker" they might buy it. Though Steviekick, you're right. If you do it, you better have McMahon leave the country right after and have massive security on hand to deal with Goldberg. The guy will rampage. Or, since HHH played bodyguard the night Bret got screwed, why not get him to do it again?
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 I'm trying to decide if it would lower morale (because Vince is a cunt) or raise morale (because Goldberg is a cunt). I don't really know. I would laugh though, I know that much. It would raise my morale, that's for sure, but I think it would lower the workers. Already anyone on creative who disagrees with things gets forced out ala Heyman, Bret's problems were more about contracts and refusals to job. Montreal'ing F.Goldberg just because he throws a tantrum is going to make everyone else scared of voicing their opinions. On the other hand, if he refuses to job the belt to an A-list star (Austin, Rock, Undertaker) or a B-list star (Angle, Lesnar, or even HHH), then Montreal his ass. Everybody knows you don't bitch about dropping the belt to someone because you feel they're beneath you.
Guest Vyce Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Jobber's right. I mean, it's a smart fan's wet dream way of utterly disrespecting Goldberg, but ultimately it'd do more harm to the workers than good, no matter how despised Bill may be in the locker room.
Guest HartFan86 Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 I see Goldberg quitting before being buried...and what if he walked out with the belt? I think it's risky, but it would totally bury Goldberg. I wouldn't put it past Vince.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 I see Goldberg quitting before being buried...and what if he walked out with the belt? Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't Benoit walk out of WCW as Champ and WCW kept the belt? I think everyone learned something from Flair '92. Even if F.Goldberg kept the belt, I'd imagine they'd switch back to the original WCW title (they switched to a fake prior to WrestleMania) and the marks would never know.
Guest JRE Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 They should Monetral him in the Cell...then get everyone else out of there ASAP and watch Goldberg go insane. 30 minutes of Goldberg going insane trying to get out would be gold. It'd be like watching the Discovery Channel
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 30 minutes of Goldberg going insane trying to get out would be gold. It'd be like watching the Discovery Channel But then we can't throw our drinks at him.
Gert T Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 30 minutes of that would be cool, but we have to cut it down to 5 due to coverage of the 2004 Redneck Olympic Games.
Guest Ray Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Montreal is now a verb. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Goldberg segments on Raw have gotten higher ratings than everything else.
Guest jester Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 I wouldn't put it past Vince. I wouldn't put anything past Vince. If Stephanie's body was body stuffed in a trunk somewhere, I'd concentrate the investigation on Vince even if a guy holding the murder weapon was standing 10 feet away from the body screaming "I did it!"
Adam Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Surely Vince wouldn't do THAT. Oh wait. Maybe.... POST 600!

It'd be like watching the Discovery Channel But then we can't throw our drinks at him. what do you think they put those holes in the side for? they should have a bunch of guys in pith helmets surround the ring and poke him with cattle prods. Now that would be funny. And educational.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 The best montreal style screwjob they could do.. Survivor series in Washington DC. Main event HHH vs Goldberg. Kevin Nash walks down to the ring and tasers Goldberg. Or they could drag Scott Hall back..
Guest WhenDanSaysJump Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 If we're going Montreal, then we may as well have Goldberg in the sharpshooter when it happens. That way his opponent can sneakily tie his laces together so that when he spazzes out in anger, he repeatedly falls over for extra comedic goodness.
Murmuring Beast Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Montreal was a masterstroke in 1997. The company was being raped by WcW and Vince sunk the lowest he has ever gone to get ratings. With Goldberg no-one will care. NOTE: Since then Vince has sunk much lower.
Guest The Old Me Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 I don't think that's such a bad idea. I think the "boys" would be okay with it, if the reports are true that he is not liked. I agree with the idea of caging him afterwards as well. He could break every bone trying to punch through that cage.
