Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted June 19, 2003 For verifications sake, what's the site you got this from? Not that I mind the news at all, particularly concerning Raging Bull, Scarface, and Goodfellas (eh what the hell, and Top Gun and The Lost Boys), it's just nice to know, even if they don't have any other details available. Guest ShamRock Report post Posted June 20, 2003 Looks like I'm double-dipping on Deer Hunter and The Shawshank Redemption.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 20, 2003 Scarface: I may double dip here if the picture and sound has been improved. My only problem with the original is the mediocre picture quality and sound. Goodfellas: I've been waiting for this one for years. Casino: I find it to be an overrated rehash of Goodfellas, but it's still a decent mob movie so I'll get it. Carlito's Way: A very good often over looked mob movie. Glad that it's getting SE treatment. The Lost Boys: One of my favorite movies as a kid, so I'm getting this. Christmas Vacation: I'll most likely get this since I love these movies. The Breakfast Club: One of my favorite 80's movie, so I'd be all over this. Face/Off: I like the movie, but I own it already and this SE will have to be amazing for me to double dip. The Shawshank Redemption: Another great overlooked movie deserving of a SE. I'd also buy this.

Guest Brush with Greatness Report post Posted June 20, 2003 I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Judd Nelson. There is nothing about Anthony Michael Hall that could be descibed as grunge. Nor with Emilio. Show Dick some respect!

Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted June 20, 2003 How can you not know who Anthony Michael Hall is? That's just...weird. Anyway, a lot of these are coming in August (like Goodfellas and Christmas Vacation). I believe there's also some future plans for re-releasing the original Vacation, as well as Vegas Vacation. As for the Breakfast Club, that along with Sixteen Candleswas supposed to be released back in April, but they were canceled, with no definite dates being set for their release. And as far as I know, no new news has been broke about them. Personally, even though it's not on the list, I'm looking forward to the 2-Disc SE release of Casablanca. Guest Memoirs of an Invisible Chevy Report post Posted June 20, 2003 From what I understood, Shawshank was never going to get re-released. And people have been talking for at least two years about Goodfellas and others getting SE treatment. I'll get excited when their release dates are actually announced. And yes, Vacation is getting re-released on Aug. 19th. I've heard faint rumblings about the Christmas Vacation being re-released...and nothing about Vegas Vacation. Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted June 20, 2003 If they did the other three, they'd have to do a European Vacation SE for completion. Just putting them all in a box set would be the best (for them) cause most people don't like that one. I have it for the Chevy Chase commentary though. There is a region 2 Shawshank SE though, if they never end up doing that around here.

Well, it may be better than Vegas Vacation. There is a reason why the Lampoon didn't want to associate itself with it.
Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted June 20, 2003 Since European Vacation just came out a year ago and it's got some features, even a commentary, not to mention it's in WS, I doubt we'll get another release of it so soon. I did see it at BB the other day for $9.99, though, which is usually an indication that a new version may be on the way. But yeah, the original Vacation desperately needs a new DVD release; Christmas is good, and I haven't seen enough of Vegas to care for another one.

Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted June 23, 2003 The only thing that sucks about this news is that I own ALL of these movies already so I can't avoid double dipping. As the years go by I'm slowly realizing that I'm just buying my initial DVD collection over and over and over again. I'm beginning to hate the fact that I even got a DVD player and lots of movies when they very first were released. It seems as if WAITING pays off better than jumping on the hot new trend. Damn these studios and distributors for not putting out this awesome discs the FIRST fucking time.
Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted June 23, 2003 The sad thing is (for us, the consumers, anyway) that even after all these years using the format, studios are still putting out some barebone DVD's of older movies that are just now getting their first life on DVD, which means that eventually, we'll be seeing a special edition. At that point, it becomes a question of whether you want the movie and no extras or wait a couple years for the same movie albeit, with extras. The worst part about it (once again, for us, the consumers) is that this isn't some sort of mistake on the studio's part; they know damn well what they're doing. Didn't you once chastise me for my decision to wait for the SE's of certain movies, expecting box sets? Dames
Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted June 23, 2003 I chastized you for waiting for boxed sets that were likely NEVER gonna happen. That's all. All in all, I'm not too disappointed since all the movies that are getting re-released as SE's now, I've owned since like 1997. I would be more upset if it were a case like when Almost Famous came out and then a scant few months later, that Bootleg Version came out. Those are the instances where I get pissed at double-dipping. I'm not really mad at buying an SE of Goodfellas or something like that... A 5+ year wait for an SE is less upsetting and easier for me to buy into than a 5 MONTH wait.
Guest 5_moves_of_doom Report post Posted June 23, 2003 scarface Bahahaha, fucking awesome. I've been waiting for a SE of that for YEARS. And ehh, I'm a double-dipping MACHINE, here. Goodfellas, True Lies (though I'm not sure if that one's worth getting twice, really), Christmas Vacation, and The Shawshank Redemption. Whoooo... I think... I dunno, only movie I've ever double-dipped on was teh Pulp Fiction, but that's my favorite movie ever, so it was completely necessary, and stuff. As for the flicks that I DON'T have... well, I'll probably be getting a lot of those, too.

Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted June 23, 2003 The Game and X-Mas Vacation for me. But it seems as if I've been waiting on the Game: SE forEVER...any date YET?

Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Not sure if anyone's heard this, but Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Wierd Science are all slated for a 9/2/03 release date. They'll be 20 bucks a pop or $39.95 for the Brat Pack 3-pack. I'll definitely be going with the latter.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2003 Batman is getting an SE very soon too. It's about time. The one that's out is seriously bare bones. If you never even hit the "menu" button you might not even know it has a menu.
