The Ghost of bps21 Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Oh...and if Justin Timberlake or Britney Spears were in a horror movie I'd wager that the bloodlust would go up tenfold...so I doubt this has ANYTHING to do with skin color. It has everything to do with "You don't belong in this movie. Die"
Bruiser Chong Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Perhaps she's not a good actress, but c'mon, it's a fuckin' slasher flick. I don't ever recall there being anything above average acting in any slasher flick I've ever seen. You all act like she walked right in on the middle of To Kill A Mocking Bird or something with good actors in it.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 ^ Couldn't have said it any better. Rico, I have a hard time believing you can say anything any better.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 That's a really good point. *Bruisers first post*
The Ghost of bps21 Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 You know...maybe I overstated when I said she was terrible. She was terrible at delivering dialogue... BUT I never sat there and thought "Hey...there's the girl from Destiny's Child" and then got hung up on it. I kind of bought her as her character...which is hard to do when you are well known. ahh...I didn't go to Freddy vs. Jason for the acting and everyone knows that.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 I'm with Bruiser. (surprise, surprise) We're talking the same crowd who prolly adores Troma movies and they have the nerve to bust on someone for their acting...was there someone here who prolly deserved an Oscar but was held back by Kelly Rowland? Didn't think so. Inside, subconsiously you're just looking for something to pick on because she was in it. What you need to do instead of talking about how the "black girl" can't act, is go find a movie that's actually worth seeing and spending money on.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 It's ok, you can admit that I have a point in boths posts. The most likely retort you'd get would be:
Guest Askewniverse Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Oh...and if Justin Timberlake or Britney Spears were in a horror movie I'd wager that the bloodlust would go up tenfold...so I doubt this has ANYTHING to do with skin color. It has everything to do with "You don't belong in this movie. Die" I agree. It's not an issue of skin color, but rather who the person is. Remember the backlash from fans when people found out that N'Sync (or was it the Backstreet Boys) were going to be in Episode II? In that case, the backlash was actually worse. As for Freddy vs. Jason, I enjoyed it and have no complaints about it.
Lil' Bitch Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 The theater I was at wasn't into the movie at all either. If I had seen the movie with surroundings like some of you other guys saw it in, I might've gotten tricked into liking it too. The few people that were there around me all seemed pretty bored. There were two reactions, when Freddy jumped out in the dream "the old pop out of nowhere cheap scare", that made everybody jump, and then the goalie line. That was it. The rest of the time everybody just sat there with quite a few of them talking through it. As soon as it ended, I was the only one who didn't immediately jump up and walk out. I at least stayed through the cast list. Everybody else left like the place was on fire. Nothing worse than a dead crowd. Plus the theater didn't turn the lights off for the movie. I would have been pissed if that happened. That kind of ruins the experience / atmosphere. Now...the LL one I agree that he should have died...I mean he was shot in the HEAD. But... Spoiler (Highlight to Read): the bullet only GRAZED his head Busta should have lived though...he was the only good thing in that movie. As much as I hated that movie, I have to disagree about that. The man is a horrible actor.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 How is Busta a horrible actor? He's not great, but he did a damn fine job in his role in Narc, so what exactly is about him that makes him such a horrible actor? Please explain.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 I thought he was hilarious in that movie. He was making a Halloween movie over twenty+ years after that meant anything to anyone...and he just looked like he was having a ball with it. Picture someone who wasn't that into the job playing that part. It could have been so boring and made the movie even worse. Instead he was entertaining in a very important role that made me laugh a bunch of times.
Lil' Bitch Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Okay, Busta's ACTING was HORRIBLE in HALLOWEEN 8, happy?
Bruiser Chong Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Ok, THAT'S all YOU had to SAY in your FIRST post, JACKASS.
TSA09 Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Busta was the best thing in Halloween 8...well that and Laurie finally dies.
Guest Askewniverse Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 (edited) EDIT: never mind. Edited January 29, 2004 by Askewniverse
Guest Crucifixio Jones Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Busta was good in Finding Forrester, too.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 17, 2003 Report Posted August 17, 2003 You know, there's something that scares me in Rico's profile Birthday: 30 November 1982 I hope he's lying, because if he's not, it's pretty sad that a near 21-year-old is such a fool.

Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted August 17, 2003 Report Posted August 17, 2003 Let's sum it up. Cut the woman some slack. This was her FIRST acting role. She is an R & B Artist, she is not an Actress. Granted, other Hip Hop Artists have done well in movies. Seriously, this is a horror film. Do you really think that the material she or any of the other Actors (Minus Robert Englund) was given would be worthy of any Oscar ? Example: Lori: "Hey Freddy, go to Hell" Wow... Oscar material ? Also, admit... she had one of the better scenes with Freddy, in terms of Comedy.
Nighthawk Posted August 17, 2003 Report Posted August 17, 2003 I had no problem with her. I wouldn't bitch about anything in that movie. I swear, it's probably in my top 5 of all time. But I have odd tastes.
eiker_ir Posted August 17, 2003 Report Posted August 17, 2003 what the hell, why did't that theater turn off the lights? i would be really pissed if they did that
Guest El Satanico Posted August 17, 2003 Report Posted August 17, 2003 Seriously, this is a horror film. If you read my post you would've seen that I said everyone excluding Englund were awful actors.
Nighthawk Posted August 17, 2003 Report Posted August 17, 2003 I don't know if the acting was that bad, the one guy was doing a pretty good Jason Mewes impression.

I don't know if the acting was that bad, the one guy was doing a pretty good Jason Mewes impression. Holy Shit, you guys noticed that too ? Also, maybe it was just my Theatre, but The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(SP), The Rundown, & House Of The Dead Trailers were all accepted by the crowd. Especially T.T.C.M. , the Trailer actually spooked a couple of people. Edited August 17, 2003 by NaturalBornThriller4:20
Guest El Satanico Posted August 17, 2003 Report Posted August 17, 2003 Well it was typical slasher film acting. Honestly, the acting didn't bother me. If I expected good acting from a slasher I'd be a class A idiot.
TSA09 Posted August 17, 2003 Report Posted August 17, 2003 I had T.T.C.M., The Rundown, Underworld, Scary Movie 3...and a few others that I don't remember. On and unrelated note, I was looking and saw this Spike Lee movie due out in 2004 called She Hate Me where a guy helps rich lesbians get pregnant.
