rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 AS, whatever way you cut it, Angle is one of two proven ME wrestlers on Smackdown. Unless he's injured, he will hold the belt again in the next 12 months, headline the SD portion of WMXX and be a top line wrestler involved in the mix all year. Angles like the A-Team, he goes where he's needed.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 and be a top line wrestler involved in the mix all year. Unless he spends eight months in the midcard again. Not like they've ever done that.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Angle is *not* a proven Main Eventer. For almost all of 2002 he was in the mid-card.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Angle is *not* a proven Main Eventer. For almost all of 2002 he was in the mid-card. Bold midcard, Italics-Main event, and both is borerline January: Nothing most of the month, started big feud with HHH at the end. February: Top level feud with HHH March: Kane April: Edge May: Edge June: Hogan* July: Undertaker** August: Rey September: Benoit October: Benoit, Edge, Rey, Eddy, Chavo November: Benoit, Edge, Rey, Eddy, Chavo December: Brock. *This wasn't exactly booked like a top feud. **Angle was almost an afterthought in this ME.
Cherry Blossom Viscount Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 To be fair Angle didn't have any heat in the beginning of 2002. If that feud with HHH did nothing else, it helped Angle regain some of his lost heat.
Lil' Bitch Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Angle is *not* a proven Main Eventer I think if that statement was true, he wouldn't have main evented WM XIX...

I think you can count the SD six months and the build up to them as being major feuds. They got everyone over and was the second biggest feud on Smackdown. They couldn't give Angle a top line fued with Lesnar when they were setting that up for WMXIX without making someone look weak. Granted everything before July was crap, but the feud with Edge was done with good intentions (and had a memorable blow-off), and Hogan, Kane and Taker are fairly over and faces. A feud with Taker or Hogan, to the average mark, is better than a feud with Benoit or Edge.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 To be fair Angle didn't have any heat in the beginning of 2002. If that feud with HHH did nothing else, it helped Angle regain some of his lost heat. Angle got most of his heat back (After the US title killed it) in a match with Kane of all people. I think you can count the SD six months and the build up to them as being major feuds. They got everyone over and was the second biggest feud on Smackdown. Still midcard feuds over midcard belts and Hogan, Kane and Taker are fairly over and faces. Kane was a TOTAL demotion, no redeeming qualities. Hogan was okay, but the feud itself (not the match) was booked HORRIBLY He was an afterthought to the Rock/Taker feud.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 The true sign of a Main Eventer is what they do when they are not holding the belt, or even challenging for a belt. Look what HHH did when he didn't have the belt, look what Austin did, look what Rock did. They were still in the marquee, they were still in the feature match up - they didn't fall down the card into the mid-card, they were still being advertised for the shows, their matches were of importance, they were still in the headlines (sometimes they even went beyond the title match).

So in a nutshell what you just said is Main Eventers are guys that are in the main event.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 The HHH Effect: For all wrestlers whom face HHH and experience a severe drop in card status directly afterwards. See Jericho, Chris.
Guest the pinjockey Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 So is the: HHH Effect Royale- when you get dropped off the next PPV completely (ex. Chris Jericho-post WM-Backlash 2002 and RVD-post SurSer- Armageddon 2002)
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 I prefer to call them "featured match-ups". Hogan vs. Rock wasn't the main event of WM 18, HHH vs. Jericho was - but I wouldn't call Jericho a main eventer nor would I call Rock a mid-carder.

Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Yes. There are some who experience a mild HHH effect (HBK), and others who experience intense HHH effect (or "Royale" as you put it - Jericho).
Guest the pinjockey Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 I think something similar to the terror alert system needs to be implemented for each HHH opponent. Red - Jericho Orange - RVD Yellow - Booker And I have no idea what rounds out the last two colors, because I am lazy and don't care.
Lil' Bitch Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 12 months a year Hell, HHH, The Undertaker, The Rock or even Austin pulled that off.

Guest Anglesault Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 12 months a year Hell, HHH, The Undertaker, The Rock or even Austin pulled that off. main event scene, not main event of a PPV.
Lil' Bitch Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 main event scene, not main event of a PPV. Isn't being in the main event of a PPV the most important part?
Guest Anglesault Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 main event scene, not main event of a PPV. Isn't being in the main event of a PPV the most important part? But you can be out of the actual main event and still be in the main event scene. Like HHH/Angle at NWO was next to last, but not a idcard match. That's all I ask.
JasonX Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 HHHell, Current Population: Bubba Dudley, Rob Van Dam, Kane (2X!), Shawn Michaels, Scott Steiner, Kevin Nash, Booker T. Hall of Fame Inductee: Chris Jericho. Survivor: Kurt Angle Angle hasn't survived HHH. Stuck on SD doing jack shit save being Brock Lesner's personal jobber and humiliated and buried even worse than he was by HHH in his stupid feud with Edge that did nothing to get Edge over and ended up with Angle being bald and looking like a freaking retard. Angle is worth jack shit and needs to get put on Raw ASAP if he is to have any sort of purpose now that he's jobbed to Brock. Either that or retire now and don't look back...
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 (edited) Here's the spectrum. ----------- Red Jericho (HHH completely buries) Steiner ----------- Orange RVD (HHH buries, but not so badly... as in, he doesn't go out of his way to bury like he does with Jericho and Steiner) Bubba ----------- Yellow Kane (HHH buries, but will give a hollow, ultimately meaningless, "job" to to "get their heat back") Angle Booker ----------- Blue HBK (Are still protected even after losing ) Nash ----------- Green Rock (Losing to HHH does not effect them, but they get verbally buried by HHH because HHH is insecure) Austin ----------- White Taker (HHH puts over) Edited June 25, 2003 by RavishingRickRudo
Lil' Bitch Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Angle is worth jack shit and needs to get put on Raw ASAP if he is to have any sort of purpose now that he's jobbed to Brock. Oh so you're saying Angle is worthless on SD and you actually believe he would be better off back on RAW? HAVE YOU LOST YOUR FUCKING MIND?!! And its not like he had a choice to job to Brock, his neck was fucked up, I'm surprised he still went through with the match, which I'm glad he did.
Guest Memphis Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 athletic, charismatic worker that was also screwed by HHH (RVD). . BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, oh you're serious? How sad. Metal M
Guest the pinjockey Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 What is the joke in that statement? RVD is athletic and charismatic. He isn't a very good worker, but that was never mentioned in the original post.

Guest the pinjockey Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Well if he went to Raw we could get that long awaited pairing of him and Jericho where they combine forces to look like asses week in and week out.
