Guest NoSelfWorth Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 This week's edition of Raw did a 3.9 cable rating, with a 6.3 share. That is down from last week's 4.1. The show did hours of 3.5 and 4.3. Credit - 1popups.con
Murmuring Beast Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 I feel sorry for Glen Jacobs who will surely feel the backlash of this slump.
Guest Choken One Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 Unless Kane did 4.5 and Steiner/Test drew 1.9 or something... it's safe to say...That they dropped the ball here... Back to the drawing boards.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 Still higher then what it usually is.
Guest Choken One Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 how so? It DROPPED from last week's show which didn't have this HUGE main event at MSG.
Guest NoSelfWorth Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 Maybe they should have spent more than just a week hyping this match. Something as big as this, from a storyline point of view, really should have gotten more than a one week build up. And if anyone gets blamed, it won't be Cripple H.
Guest CanadianChick Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 Why would Kane be doomed? The second hour (the hour in which his match was featured) drew a 4.3.
Murmuring Beast Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 Vince Mode: I don't need to look at hourly ratings! - Kane sucks ass and he's ugly as fuck, he obviously can't draw. Look at this crappy christmas card he gave me!
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 how so? It DROPPED from last week's show which didn't have this HUGE main event at MSG. A 3.9 is better then the low 3's they were getting.
Guest NoSelfWorth Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 how so? It DROPPED from last week's show which didn't have this HUGE main event at MSG. A 3.9 is better then the low 3's they were getting. It's still a very disappointing rating, considering the main event and the stips it had. I think they would have hit the 4.5 range, if they had ever honored their previous stipulations. I think a lot of people were thinking they were going to get swerved, and didn't tune in. You can't pop a rating with a stipulation match if you have a history of never honoring previous stipulations.
Guest MARTYEWR Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 OT: Quik, that sig of yours is hilarious! I think the 3.9 is disappointing considering all the hype and build-up that led to the show. But yeah, it's likely Glen Jacobs will get a lot of the blame, unless Vince is still serious about pushing the guy.
Guest D'Lo White Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 I've noticed the ratings is never good when the show opens with a Test match. I mean is it any surprised the first hour did so low when it featured a Test match, a segment centering around a guy the WWE is telling their fans is boring and Sgt. Slaughter in a handicap match ( I don't remember Hurricane being in that match at all.)
Guest razazteca Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 Kane is dead. There are several possibilities WWE can go with this unmasking. 1. Glen Jacobs vs Randy Orton 2. Glen Jacobs vs RVD 3. Glen Jacobs can go crazy and be like Mick Foley using past personas to get over. 4. Glen Jacobs vs HHH in a hair match 5. Austin will continue to taunt Kane to insanity to become the Monster that no sells everything. Worst than Road Warrior Hawk even worst than Goldberg. Kane was not the reason for the low ratings Bawh Gawd its Jericho & Storm's faught for the BORING match.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 "Worst than Road Warrior Hawk " That's hilarious. I'd like to see everyone get on his ass and taunt him and make him a monster again. I think they'll do that, and have him in sort of a Hulk mode. He's pretty calm but one remark about his face or anything implying that and he'll snap.
Guest razazteca Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 You don't want to make Glen Jacobs angry.... As for the low ratings I suspect that some viewers were angry that a commercial break was run during nearly every match and probably just watched the History Channel's special about comics until the last 10 minutes of Raw to see the unmasking.
Guest Dangerous A Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 While not a huge disaster, the rating is a disappointment considering what was on the line and the buildup for it last week. Last week they were actually in the 4 range and while 3.9 is right there, it's down and it should've been a smidge higher. Perhaps the audience knew Kane had no chance to win and said fuck it, who cares what he looks like with no mask on. If they can't give the illusion Kane (or anyone facing HHH for that matter) has a prayer, then why tune in when you don't care about the payoff?
Guest Eagan469 Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 I would have thought they hit 4.0 last night. Ah, whatever. Ratings don't matter that much.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Kane drew a 5.0!!! For those curious, the ratings for Raw really didn't kick in until hour two this week. The show started at a 3.0 before doing a 3.4 and then two 3.7s. Hour two, which started with the tribute to Mick Foley, spiked (I better watch out or Mr. Lee will sue me for using that word) to a 4.5. The next three segments dropped to 4.0 and two 4.1s before the overrun delivered a strong 5.0 quarter hour for Kane's de-masking. ... Ratings are compiled by and are the property of Nielsen Media Research. 1wrestling.com
Guest LJSexay Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 that sounds like good news for Kane then
Guest Choken One Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Well good news for Kane... Kane always was the highest draw for WWE...Im sure it won't be for much longer...
Murmuring Beast Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 They'll bring back Paul Bearer, but not Percy Pringle, have Kane kill him and thus delibrately get bad ratings and then have a reason to fire him. Vince Mode: Thanks for that Hunter - I'll give it real consideration.
Guest Choken One Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 why would the murder of Bearer get any worse ratings then HHH/Orton Vs Two random hhheldown Club members? Hell...Ratings would go UP if they had an murder on tv...
Murmuring Beast Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Am I WWE writer material then? I say kill Linda too as well as Rikishi in a mile-high club incident and bring them both back as zombies. Linda wouldn't have to change her tone of voice for that one.
Guest Choken One Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 WWE oughta go ahead and bite the bullet and do a Murder Spree Angle...All for the masked murderer to lay down in 5 minutes against you know who.
Murmuring Beast Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Next Week: Kane buys a gun ... and intends to use it. RATINGS WOULD ROCKET~!
Guest Choken One Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 I would love if Kane stalks the Locker room and takes out random people for the next three months...No angle...No reason... Just say "Well, JR...Guess Kane's still a little peeved about taking his mask off" "King your right...It's been 4 months now Kane...Get over it you BAH GAWD AWFUL FREAK! Stop hurting innocent Hosses!"
