So tonight TNN's new adult cartoons premier so do you have any plans to watch them. Ren & Stimpy I've never got I've always found them overrated so I'm not watching them. Gary the Rat I might watch because I'm causal fan of Frasier. And Stripperell just to see if a cartoon Pam Anderson is as bad and fake as the real one.

Oh there's no doubt that I'll be watching.

I hope the new Ren & Stimpy completely pisses off the insecure "omg they're gay" fans.

What, they weren't before? Did they not see the "Sven Hoek" episode?

This runs right up against Smackdown, so I'll have to take a pass.

Yes I know that and many others are fully aware that they always were.

However, there were alot of people here losing their minds when they found out that they were going to be a gay couple in the new show.

Right, THAT thread. Given how abusive Ren is, I suppose I can understand the misgivings about them being a couple then...

Ren & Stimpy is the only reason to watch. I shall not waist my time on the Harvey Birdman ripoff or the weak Hentia of Vampirella wanna be.

At this time the only thing that has me interested in watching Stripperella is Stan Lee being associated with it. So because of Stan Lee I will give it a chance.

Other than being an animated animal related lawyer, I don't think Gary The Rat sounds like a Harvey Birdman ripoff. Gary The Rat is about a slimeball lawyer who represents scumbags. From what we know about now it's nothing like Harvey Birdman, but of course that's subject to change upon actually seeing it.

I stopped watching "Brazil" to check out the new Ren and Stimpy. After watching it, all I can say is...

You know, I don't know WHAT to say. Just a bit too scatological for my tastes. John K., ya lost me. I hope to see the old episodes if they ever run them, but I'm giving the new ones a pass.

Back to "Brazil"...

They're playing the one of the old episodes at 11, I think. But I was flipping between R&S and Flinstones: Viva Rock Vegas [Mick Jagged... rawr!!].. erm, anyway... they were WAY too many snot jokes. It's like every time I turned back, they were talking about mucous. Eww.

Brazil is almost over, so I'll switch back.

Watching the new R & S makes me think of the old saying...

If it bends, it's funny. If it breaks, it's NOT funny.

Thanks for the update!

Ren & Stimpy has went over board with the gay jokes. It still has the gross out humor but damn they did everything but show actual anal sex with the gay jokes. Some things should not be seen on cable tv, really.

I didn't get to watch the shows tonight. I was out watching Rear Window on the big screen, so I had to tape all of the shows.

I think I can safely say that the new R&S will probably last all of about 2 more eps before it goes away.

Well...the new Ren and Stimpy show is...um...well...it was interesting.

The gay stuff didn't bother me at all, but they've raised the digusting bar a few notches.

My opinion of the show is still up in the air.

In the end folks, I was right. There was no way all the people screaming how "homophobic" I was can defend Ren and Stimpy after watching THAT. It's exactly how I thought it would be, comepletely gross out and over the top for the sake of being funny...and you know what? IT WASN'T FUNNY! And thats all that matters! If the new formula was funny, I wouldn't give a damn. Im pissed because they ruined a show I loved, but making it more SHOCKING and in effect killed it. I didn't laugh once (although I liked the whipped potatos and the tip of the cap to Dr. Stupid). Otherwise WAY too much snot and mucus (among other bodily functions) and too many completely tasteless gay innuendo (hell fuck innuendo, I did NOT need to see Ren and Stimpy having fast anal sex in a bed). It was a complete trainwreck, that I hope is put out of it's misery (or at least makes John K. go back to the formula that WORKED).

I've seen Space Madness billions of times, and watching Ren's insane ramblings about his ice cream bar is still BILLIONS times more entertaining than watching Stimpy suck the shit out of a rat's ass or have a pair of tonsils sodomize Ren.

But...you weren't right. You said them being out of the closet and sex jokes was going to ruin the show.

Love the new show or hate it, them being out of the closet and sex jokes didn't hurt the new show nearly as much as you claimed it would. The gay and sex stuff was the least of the problems in the first episode.

After watching the classic episode I'm starting to think that the show wasn't as good as I thought it was as a kid. The humor in old show isn't that much different than the humor in the new show despite what some say.

Ren and Stimpy sucked. But it was only one episode. There were more than one episode that sucked of the first show. Hell, there was a whole season or two that sucked. The two gay scenes we already saw turned out to be the only funny parts of the entire show I thought, and they weren't funny anymore cause I already saw them enough. Hopefully future shows will get better. I'm thinking they was probably going full on gross out/gay out for the debut episode to get attention to the new show/block of animation/TNN's format switch.

I watched about 5 minutes of Gary the Rat until I gave up on it. I couldn't tell if it was actually supposed to be a comedy or not or just some animated rat lawyer drama.

Striperella turned out to be surprisingly funny to me. I didn't know what to expect from it. It turned out to be a pretty funny superhero parody which I didn't know it was. At first it just seemed silly with the cartoon stripper but when the her boss showed up and did the wheel chair gag, then the we can't afford a TV because they spent all the money on the fancy wall gag, I got into it. I thought it was far and away the funniest show of the night. As soon as I heard that the band on the show was named "Rocktopus" I was sold.

Man, I need to pay more attention. I forgot the premiere was tonight and I had no idea they were going to be a homosexual couple. Was there any particular reason they went in that direction with them? I mean, the way you folks are talking, you make it sound as if that ruined it due to the innundation of gay-related humor and little else.

The only thing that ruined it was the snot jokes, not the gay jokes. The gross out humor of the old show got taken up to 11 on tonight's episode. I don't remember having trouble eating during the old show but I did tonight.

I had no idea that R&S were gay. I kinda remember the original on Nick when I was a small kid, but seeing the show now is really surprising. Were they always suppose to be gay or did they announce it or what?

I agree, way too much gross-out humor. The gay stuff could have only helped the episode.

Maybe the show never really was THAT good.

I was just going to make a post about it.

I wasn't really watching the show at first because I was editing the 'Alan Cumming' page in my records, so it was just backround noise. Then it started with all the parodies, and I started getting into it. I thought the lines about the model having thumbs that were too fat, and her getting them reduced were quite funny.

Well with R+S it's a double edged sword...

They stayed true to everything, the animation style, the physical humor, the "up-close and gross" layering, the relationship between the two, it was all there in true form....

Just x10. Which is good for the things I mentioned above, but the basic joke material is WEAK and overdone. The entire episode was based on gross out jokes, with some gay jokes here and there.

The best thing to me about the show was the hidden inuendo, but it makes no sense. One second there blatantly talking about being a couple, and the next second there trying to hide the relationship in jokes, it just didn't work.

I'm still gonna give it a shot, but they need to work off the formula, not just take the formula they had and take everything to the extreme.

They said SHIT!~ on Gary the Rat!

Seriously though, I liked Gary and Striperella. The latter had Maurice LeMarche and Mark Freakin Hamill doing his Joker voice for the villain.

Gary the Rat was good, but nothign special I'll continue watching it.

The new Ren And Stimpy... yeah.. anyway, I don't know about the other 2 shows, but I read in the paper that R&S only has around 6 episodes currently.

i only watched 'striperella', and it was surprisingly funny. a lot of the jokes were stupid and didn't work (made only worse when they drew attention to the jokes that didn't work to be hip and self-aware), but some of it was pretty well-done. still not what i'd quite call a good show, but it benefited from low expectations and it'll probably get better.
