Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2003 1.) "Cocky" by Kid Rock was the Royal Rumble 2002 theme and "Feel So Numb" by Rob Zombie was the No Way Out 2002 theme, right? I got those PPVs on DVD and instead, I'm hearing what might be WWE-produced rock instrumentals.. 2.) I also noticed when The Undertaker came out, his theme played was some weird rock instrumental (it wasn't "Dead Man" instead of "Rollin" even though Limp Bizkit was still in the Titantron... Can someone tell me if this is true and why?
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted June 27, 2003 It's because they don't want to pay for incentives on the themes done by bands, so they use production music. The Undertaker one is called "Going Postal."
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Report post Posted June 27, 2003 Yes and yes. The WWE usually doesn't buy the rights for PPV themes or some people's entrance music for DVD rerelease simply because it costs more.
Guest Sakura Report post Posted June 27, 2003 If it costs that much that buying it for everything is a problem why buy them at all? It's not like anyone cares.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2003 I just find weird it because WWE didn't have a problem with it back in late 2001 (Drowning Pool, Saliva, Puddle of Mudd). Then in 2002, 2 PPVs theme songs were ousted before WWE went back to keeping them when WM 18 came about.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted June 27, 2003 Some bands don't charge...and for like the Manias, it's because the band actually appeared there, so they can use it with the band's permission.
Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted June 27, 2003 The music editing can get pretty ridiculous. On Royal Rumble 2002, Edge's "Never Gonna Stop" theme is replaced with his old one. Funny thing is that if you listen closely, you can still hear the Rob Zombie theme in the background while the old one is still playing.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2003 The Raw X opening package set to Batwidaba by Kid Rock is chnaged to a standard guitar riff on the DVD.
Guest Slapnuts00 Report post Posted June 27, 2003 WWF pretty much always edits Edge's old theme in, Ric Flair's old 92 WWF theme and PPV themes. Indeed it's because they dont want to pay for the rights to use the music. The exception seems to be Wrestlemanias. Wrestlemania X8 everyone's theme is kept in tact, even though shows around it, themes were tampered with. It's annoying at first, but in the end it doesnt really matter. Of all the ways WCW lost money, I'm guessing using Ric Flair's real music on home videos was not one of their major ones.

Guest OnlyMe Report post Posted June 27, 2003 That's weird... my PAL (UK) copy of Rumble 2002 has Edge and the main theme dubbed, but Flair's "Also Sprach..." theme is in.

Guest Slapnuts00 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 Strangely enough Royal Rumble 02 has Flair's current theme (probably didnt realize at the time they had to pay for it). Summerslam 02 and No Mercy 02 have his 92 theme, and others have said Unforgiven 02 does too.

Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 I always get confused on Flair's music. One starts off with the drums, I think that his WWF version. His WCW theme was the one used in that movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, right?
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted June 28, 2003 Yes. The WCW one is 2001:Space Oddesy. The WWF one is a generic not good rip off
Guest RollingSambos Report post Posted June 28, 2003 Apparently now they also don't want to pay for Booker T's theme - which is a piece of production music called "Rap Sheet" - because on the Backlash DVD, he comes out to a wicked gay dubbed theme.
ravenlo 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 I always thought Flair's WWF theme wasn't too bad...
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2003 Holy shit WWE is getting fucking cheap not only is Flair's and Booker T's themes changed on the DVD version of Backlash, so is Sean O'Haire's, RVD's, Kane's, and even the Dudley Boyz!!! RVD and Kane have their music that were used before they had their theme with lyrics. Check this out, Dudleyz come out their theme was used BEFORE Saliva's theme. How sad is this? Guest JaKyL25 Report post Posted July 3, 2003 I have every WWE PPV DVD release up until Armageddon 2002 currently, and yeah, I just assumed it was because they didn't want to pay for the music. However, up to the Armageddon point, things had been getting slightly better with regard to the actual theme music to the PPVs--Royal Rumble 2002 and No Way Out 2002 were the only ones with the actual PPV themes cut out. As for entrance music, it seems that they go balls-out for WrestleManias and pay however much it takes for everything to be unedited (WM X8 is the ONLY DVD with Edge's Rob Zombie music, I believe). The nWo theme was also intact on No Way Out 2002 (presumably because it's their freakin' DEBUT and it would look really dumb to have a fake music there) and the nWo: Back in Black DVD (it would seem even DUMBER there to dub it), but dubbed-over with in-house music on Backlash 2002, Judgment Day 2002, and Insurrextion 2002. Disappointing to see that even RVD's music is being edited now, when it wasn't on any of the 2K2 DVDs. One would think that if the music has actually been PUBLISHED on a WWE album (as Rob's has), they would retain the rights to do with it what they see fit. Edge's "Never Gonna Stop" theme is left intact on both the Rebellion 2001 and Survivor Series 2001 DVD. This was right after the theme was introduced to WWF fans, so it was quite new on these two PPV's.
Adam 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2003 That is what has really annoyed me about WWE DVDs. Edge, RVD, and Taker all had crap old music on NWO 2002. WWE, cheap bastards.
