Zack, tell us how you *really* feel :)

Now that you mention it Zack, I was joking around with my older brother and said "since God hates me, Gunn will win". Of course, I wasn't being serious. I should of known that Gunn would actually get the title too.

Were you the one who had an older brother who trolled Smarktalk?

Gunn sucks.

Sometimes, I really wish Vince would listen to fans once in awhile. DON'T GIVE THE US TITLE TO BILLY GUNN, Vince! Billy doesn't deserve to win even a pile of dried out rat shit!

Yep. He's actually a pretty smart guy. Just really bad at grammar and spelling, so he comes across as a 12 year old.

O'Haire (quiet you naysayers!),

Like his crowd reaction?

Because they've done nothing to get him over! He had the wicked cool promo's hyping him up, and it certainly drew viewer interest. But then once he gets stuck on TV he's telling Brian Kendrick to get naked, Dawn Marie to get naked, and then they randomly stick him with old Rambling Roddy in some type of "gain his heat through osmosis" type of deal. Not for anything, and I'm NOT saying that I expect O'Haire to shoot this high as much as I like him, but this is just like when Austin came in. They had a great talent with a lot of hype, stuck him with Ted DiBiase in the lameass Ringmaster/Million Dollar Champion gimmick, and had him feud with Savio Vega. Once DiBiase was gone and the midcard feud was over, Austin started to shine.

Piper's gone, so there goes the anchor. The stupid feud with Rikishi and fighting Piper's battles is gone as well. O'Haire needs to bust out his cryptic promos, and he'll be OK. Until they have him job to Undertaker at Summerslam.

Well, I decided to click that link to see your pic, and thought to myself, "wow, CC is a hottie~!" And so I began to visit the board more, and seek out your posts, constantly click click clicking on that link. That picture, oh how it made the drool fall from my mouth...

*snaps out of it*

Oh crap, you meant how I really FEEL?

Believe it or not, I think some good may come out of Billy Gunn winning the US title. Remember when he came back from an injury in 2000, was really over, so they gave him the IC title?

Then remember everyone remembered they hated him, so they quickly put the belt on Benoit and kept Billy off PPV for months (until InVasion... then until Survivor Series)?

In theory, the exact same thing could happen all over again, and since Matt is, according to the rumour, his scheduled feud guy, that will work in Hardy's favour.

But still, Gunn stinks.

But when it came time to cut those promos on SD!, well, there was alot to be desire

but this is just like when Austin came in. They had a great talent with a lot of hype

What does great talent have to do with O'Haire?

And sure. The guy who couldn't have a good match with Eddy or Benoit will be the next Austin.

O'Haire needs to bust out his cryptic promos,

Raven does cryptic promos. He makes SOH look like Elmo.

And, unlike O'Haire, Raven and Elmo can play their characters

Who would have thought that being decent looking would make a target for jokes? What a world we live in...or post in.

Eh, I'm just glad you realized it's all in good fun and not a "OMG CYBERSTALKER DJ JEFF LOLZ POOR CC!" type of deal.

Back to the original topic...AS, I'm not saying O'Haire has put on a **** classic everytime he's come out. But two factors that hold him back are the WWEization of his moveset and the fact that there is only so much you can do in 3-5 minute matches (which is all he's really gotten since coming back). If this guy can a)bust out moves with the agility of a cruiserweight (remember WCW? Springboard clotheslines, Seanton Bombs, flying spin kicks, etc.) and b)have good matches with teams like DISCO AND KONNAN and the like, then I think that he'd be able to have a decent outing with most of the Smackdown crew.

Hell, I think O'Haire/Edge (your dream match ;)) would be a good-shockingly great encounter if they built it up right and gave it enough time, letting both guys go. However, O'Haire is over 6 ft., which means he can do no high flying, and instead must punch, kick, and use 6 slam variations as a moveset.

Yeah, he was stuck performing hosting duties at The World while KOTR 2001 was going on. I just find it funny they wouldn't let him even participate in the tournament. He even bitched about it.

If that wasn't a clue back then, I don't know what is... :bonk:

Don't get me wrong, he's good as a tag team guy, but he completely sucks ass (yes pun intended) as a singles competitor.

I am kinda curious in seeing Sean O'Haire do the Swanton Bomb. Since Jeff has been fired, why not?

Because the WWE won't let the big guys bust out high-spots like that, apparently it takes away from their "mystique". Shit, A-Train can probably bust out 450's like Juvi but they make him lumber around like a talentless slug that disgusts us.

You'd think an internationally known promotion would want diversity amongst it's roster, but they all follow the same format. Even the once-unpredictable RVD has his particual spots set to a particular pattern. It's like Bret Hart's "5 Moves of Doom" routine has infected the roster.

Pro's and Con's of Billy Gunn as US Champ

Pro: He is a face - 9/10 times a face should be the first title holder. The fans will cheer the win, rather than boo it. You want a strong start for the title. You want to associate it with cheers.

Con: He sucks - 10/10 times a good wrestler should be the first title holder. The fans cheer the match, rather than boo it. You want to associate the title with good matches.

Pro: The title looks gay, Billy Gunn looks gay - it will blend in rather than contrast - visually it will fit more than having someone like Benoit winning it.

Con: The champion will come down to "I'm an assman" - audibly it doesn't fit with "champion", unless this is a champion of ass... which I pray it is not.

With that list, the pros *obviously* outweight the cons. So, your next US champ is...

The only use O'Haire could have now is if Raven came back and needed a big lug who had a psycho/socially rejected look to him who was capable of standing behind him and looking intimidating . That is literally it, and this is coming from someone who really enjoyed the guy's WCW work and his promos for his devil character. But as has been proven, the guy has seemingly lost/been reprogrammed and is no longer capable of having good matches with Chris friggin Benoit and the promo stuff was just some really good writing and probably countless takes to get it right. As mentioned, when he got on a live mic, he was quite horrible and channel changing worthy.

But yes, cheers to another Billy Gunn push, a push = more matches and more matches for Gunn = a better chance of reinjury.

Right about now Orlando Jordan (why do people constantly confuse him with actor/talk show host Orlando Jones?) looks to be a better choice that Gunn.

Maybe stick him with Kanyon in a Raven-esque type of pairing could work. Kanyon is another guy who needs something to do.

And what does it say about the world when guys like Billy Gunn can walk right back into the mix with a potential title reign while talent like Jamie Noble, Kanyon and Funaki are one pink slip away from NWA:TNA? Not that I'd mind them down there, but WWE has these people RIGHT UNDER THEIR NOSE, but have this weird semblance of "loyalt=pushes and titles" as opposed to "talent=pushes and titles". I'm surprised the McMahon butler never won the Hardcore belt if that's the case.

Kanyon's mic work doesn't scream "Raven"

LOL. Nice one CC.

And AS, I'm not saying they need to turn Kanyon into the next Raven. If anything he's more of the sarcastic type on the mic as opposed to the cryptic. But maybe a pairing of Kanyon as an "instigator" with O'Haire as his fallback/intimidator could be entertaining.
