Tryout Match

Let's say at Smackdown next week they were to give 6 X-division guys (Red, Daniels, SAT, Skipper, Kash, Ki, etc.) a 10 minute long tryout 6 man tag match, with no WWE style bullshit or holding back... do you think the mainstream WWE fans would want more, or still prefer guys like Undertaker?

I want more Xavier just from what I have seen from the Velocity match.

Find RF Video's Best of Low-Ki (Volume 1 I think) and watch Low-Ki's matches on Metal against Christian, Raven and Essa Rios. The man has the crowd eating out of the palm of his fucking hand.

Of course, the WWE would cut Low-Ki's legs out from under him by banning his entire moveset so he'd be fucked. He has a good look but nothing special.

Skippers athleticism would get over but I don't know how they'd market him. Ditto for guys like Paul London.

Red has a unique look and the Red Star Press would be over in a milisecond but he's probably too "high risk" for the WWE.

AJ Styles probably has the best chance of making it which is ironic considering he turned down a contract........

xavier sucks. he needs a good opponent to carry him too a good match.

styles said he turned down a contract because it wasn't enough for him to move, not because he is big bad aj styles.

Of coruse the WWE fans would want more. They've become accustomed to the smaller guys only being allowed to do what the bigger guys do, only maybe a little faster, that it'd blow their minds and they'd crave more.

Hence why this entire scenario is both improbable and impossible.

Xavier is so overrated, it's scary.

That shit would get over HUGE. Taker would _still_ be popular cause he gets cheered for status rather than wrestling ability.

I think that it depends on what city this went down in.

The city really wouldn't matter too much, cruiser/highspot wrestling is 99% foolproof. If two guys go out there, toss out some flashy shit and highspots the fans will react. It's the closest thing to a gurantee.

It would have to be longer than 10 minutes though, fans would be apathetic in the first few minutes simply because they dont know who those guys are.

That's just straight not true. If you bring a bunch of "no-name" guys out to wrestle to my town, they don't give a shit what they do in the ring. They would chant "who are you" like they did the last time WWE came to town.

I do agree that the fans react to highspots however. Regardless of who is doing them. That's mainly because they are so rare in the WWE though.

It's pretty much what RRR said. They would have to keep going through the disinterested crowd, then do something to catch their attention, then "go home" before the crowd got bored. That's easier said than done. Especially in a six man.

Hey guys, I watched John Cena vs Shelton Benjamin as a dark match at Raw last year. Both guys got large "Who the hell are you?" shit and Cena was only recognized by his goofy yellow shorts. "Yellow Guy sucks!"

It was the best match of the night though (Booker/Brock had too much NWO and Goldust shit to be enjoyable.) But Justin Credible vs Bradshaw on Heat got more noise. How sad.

Posted

From what I have seen of the X Division, which is enough, the crowd would love it, and be begging for more. Vince would probably be too concerned by the high risk nature though.

First things first......xavier is not very good at all....he may be one of the most overrated indy performers out there.

Elix Skipper ---- Great ability and his matrix out of a pin is awesome, but sadly his voice will stop him from getting a WWE contract. he sounds sissier than Mike Tyson.

Amazing Red ---- WWE already has a guy like that in Mysterio, and Mysterio is better imo. Red is just spot after spot after spot. I like the guy but no way will WWE sign him

Christopher Daniels --- It boggles my mind why he hasnt been signed yet. The guy is great in the ring and also great on the mic which is unsual because in the indys you dont see many great performers on the mic. I think before it's all said and done he will get signed by WWE, but will get the Knoble treatment.

AJ Styles --- Without the doubt the best chance of anyone to get signed, as a matter of fact already got offered but for a measly $500 a week turned them down. He's got the look, very good in ring, high flyer, not bad on the mic, and tremendous charisma. He'll be in WWE before 2004 ends.

All in all WWE fans would love watching these guys for a change and would welcome it and want more. IT's a very exciting style and as long as they dont blow many spots and look crisp they'll get over with the crowd.

I don't think it's that it's unusual for indy guys to be bad on the mic, just that you don't see people like Daniels, who are Great on the Mic AND Extremely talented. In the indys, it's either one or the other.

WWE tryout is kind of an oxymoron, since WWE is only interested to see how well you can subdue any schooling and skills you have learned, and instead change yourself into a slow, half-crippled, hoss-esque wrestler.

On one hand, I wish they would sign American Dragon, Low Ki, Daniels, Red, AJ Styles, possibly Doug Williams.

But they DID sign Spanky. Spanky was great. I saw some amazing Spanky matches on ROH. The WWE matches have been nowhere near as good.

Let me put it this way: If the WWE signed both Low Ki and American Dragon, they would never get the time nor the go-ahead to wrestle their 3-30-02 match, which I loved to death.

Spanky's been pretty much demoted to Velocity now. WWE might as well just release him so he can prosper in NWA-TNA, MLW, or even go back to ROH where he has the best chance of showing off his talent.

I always thought Spanky got his shot because of his ties with HBK. This theory is also supported by the recent debut of another TWA alum, Garrison Cade (whom I see nothing spectacular about in the slightest), plus other HBK students getting dark matches here and there like Paul London and Michael Shane.

Spanky is just in a post-debut lull. They simply haven't anything for him right now.

I know people will eat me alive for this but I think Low-Ki sucks. He's vastly overrated. There's also someone who can do various kicks and other actual moves in Tajiri. I personally would like for the WWE to cut their OVW "talent" and bring in someone like Styles or Skipper or Daniels. I love AJ Styles. The styles clash is one of my favorite moves, he hits all the highspots he tries unlike most of the TNA spotmachines, and he's fucking HOT to top it all off. I loved Primetime in WCW and he's only improved in the ring since then. Daniels I'm not really a fan of but I can't deny his talent.

Posted

I agree that Low Ki isnt all that, but i disagree with WWE cutting their talent in OVW.

Guys like Nick Dinsmore, Doug Basham, JOhn Cena, Brock Lesnar, Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas are all good workers and they came from OVW.

Guest CoreyLazarus416

Ki is a fun worker to just sit back and watch beat the shit out of somebody. I don't think he'll have any 100% "OMG DID YOU SEE THAT MATCH IT RULED" matches where the other opponent didn't carry him at least partially, but he's not awful. Above average, and enough cool spots and in-ring charisma to get a crowd into him.

Guest TheGame2705

I think Haas and Benjamin are the only two that are worth anything. I forgot they came from OVW. Benjamin's been around a while.\

I don't know where this Cena is a good worker crap started. He's somehow gotten over mostly with white guys I've noticed but his very basic in the ring. He wrestles at the same level as Maven.

Lesnar got over only because of his HUGE push and look, oh yeah and the squashes. So he's an amateur wrestler, whoopee! So were the Steiners and they're hated for the most part, most notably Rick.

Low Ki has everything that the WWE fans would love.

OVW teaches guys how to look good and throw hip-tosses and drop-kicks... We don't need that bland shit.

How is he overrated? I have never heard anyone ever say the guy was the second coming of Jumbo fucking Tsuruta. If anything the guy is underrated. He is a solid worker who had a great run as ROH champion and all I ever hear about him is how much he sucks.

Paul London is the guy the WWE should get. He is the man. DId anyone see that shooting star press of the apron. WOW. This guy could have some crazy matches with Rey, Matt and Ultimo

The Steiners haven't always been shit there buddy......Scott was considered one of the best workers in the world until those injuries started settling in. If you think Lesnar isnt good and has no talent then you haven't been watching. Being an amateur wrestler means you're legitimately a good wrestler. Lesnar, Benjamin, Haas, Angle, and Scott Steiner in the past are all very good wrestlers.

I don't think Cena is bad and im not white.....it's pretty ignorant to bring races into this. Your "most people that like him are white" statement is pretty friggin dumb.

Fuck 'em all except Daniels and American Dragon. Low Ki depends far too much on good wrestlers to carry him. Red and Styles can fuck right off. Slow, dull hossathon wrestling vs pointless, botched up spotfest wrestling? Sorry, same shit but with a different taste.
