Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Report post Posted June 30, 2003 From 1wrestling.com I just heard from Brian Fritz that Hulk Hogan's future with WWE is in jeopardy. Hogan was on the Bubba the Love Sponge radio show this morning and Fritz's "Between The Ropes" cohort Dickerman heard they interview. In it, Hogan said that his Hulk Hogan character is done with WWE and Mr. America is now on hiatus. He added that he thought Mr. America was done with WWE as well. Hogan implied that the creative direction was the reason why he was considering not going back to the company. Bubba asked him if Triple H's backstage power had anything to do with Hogan's feelings and Hogan stayed away from using that as a reason. Hogan added that at this point, he would like to work some matches in Japan. I was actually getting bored of Mr America. Maybe he can return at the Rumble next year, and have a hot run up to WMXX and then retire?

Guest NoSelfWorth Report post Posted June 30, 2003 FICTION. Hogan regularly uses Blubba The STD Sponge to spout off whatever crap he feels like reeling off.
Guest wwF1587 Report post Posted June 30, 2003 no offense to hogan but i think this is the best thing that can happen right now.... if hogan leaves then all this hogan/mcmahon/america crap will be done too.... then again if hogan is gone then they may push UT, TBG, or ::Shriek:: Albert
Guest edotherocket Report post Posted June 30, 2003 Man, you got my hopes up and everything. Can we at least pretend this might be true?
Guest Breetai Report post Posted June 30, 2003 I actually wouldn't mind Hogan sticking around if he 1. Stays out of the main event 2. Works with a younger star to put him over, and 3. Does the mega-job to MAKE a main-eventer in his retirement match at WMXX. You've got to admit, one abberation involving Brock aside, he's pretty much been on good behaviour since his return. I'd like to see him go out in a blaze of glory at WMXX.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted June 30, 2003 It's a smart move on Hogan's part. This way, when they want him back for WMXX, his act won't be stale from having been boring everyone for the last year. This way, he can come back around January or February and begin hyping his retirement match.

I'd like to see him go out in a blaze of glory at WMXX. Yeah, but you know good and well that those three things won't happen. I can MAYBE see Hogan jobbing at Wrestlemania 20, but it would only be to someone who doesn't need it anyway (i.e. Nash, Triple H, Vince) or someone who needs more than just that (i.e. Big Show, Zack Gowan, Billy Gunn). And even if Hogan did lose a match at WM20, he'd get his heat back and get to do a leg drop on the guy after the bell, then do his poses anyway. Remember when this Mr. America thing started, it was supposed to keep Hogan out of the main event and help him create new stars. What's happened? He's still up in the top part of the card and the only new "star" is a one-legged novelty gimmick wrestler. And what was the one abberation involving Brock? I thought Brock was allowed to beat the shit out of Hogan.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted June 30, 2003 In this stint Hogan has actually been good for the company, in terms of Giving the rub too other people, Rock, Taker, Angle, losing to Storm/Christian in the tag match and of course Brock He doesn't seem have the same ego as he did. Im sure the marketability of Hogan has waned a bit, but he does get the crowd pop still. The Mr.American Hogan suspended idea sucked anyway though...it was NOT well thought out, because there didn't seem to be an end to it, and it was open ended may explain why the Feud of McMahon/Hogan now shifted to McMahon/Gowan. Guest papacita Report post Posted June 30, 2003 And what was the one abberation involving Brock? I thought Brock was allowed to beat the shit out of Hogan. He probably was referring to Hogan's refusal to job to him at Survivor Series last year.
Guest RickyB Report post Posted June 30, 2003 Hogan winning would have been better than Big Show losing. And Hogan coming back to lose a match was a bad idea anyway.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 30, 2003 If this is true, let's hope they keep squeezing out the crap from the company. Piper...check. Hogan...check. Nash...
Guest Steviekick Report post Posted June 30, 2003 I guess this means we're not going to be treated to Mr.America/Big Show at Summerslam.

Guest jester Report post Posted June 30, 2003 As long as Hogan is with the company, he will be used for the top spot. Either Hogan keeps weaseling his way there, or the company keeps trying to elevate him, or both. I hate Hogan, so I'm more than a little biased, but I believe it's best for the company that he goes. Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 30, 2003 Is this his ploy to get the ME spot at Vengeance and/or Summer Slam?
Guest Boo_Bradley Report post Posted June 30, 2003 As a old school fan and someone who grew up on HULKAMANIA, the news saddens me My 24 hours+ worth of Hogan matches in my collection might be getting a workout this week...
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 30, 2003 So its that time for the Hogan sabatical? Time for him to hide for awhile until the nostalgia feeling comeback.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 30, 2003 Ah yes...I see Hogan's defense mechanism is still working well. As soon as he senses fans losing interest he suddenly disappears. He returns three months later with the fans interest in him renewed. How the hell is that orange bastard so good at knowing exactly when he should disappear for a few months. Still, as an EX hulkamaniac turned Hogan Hater I get excited at any possibility of Hogan finally disappearing once and for all.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 30, 2003 I bet Hogan wants a match vs Kane for stealing his haircut.

Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted June 30, 2003 this is probably bullshit, I mean, Hogan Pulling HIMSELF out of the spotlight......sure. If he is really gone from the WWE, then let the Party that started with Piper's release......continue on for another week.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 30, 2003 Hogan pulling himself out of the spotlight is something he does often. It's his way of furthering his career until the day he dies. Hogan is a smart man and realizes that him being around too long at one time will cause fans to turn on him.
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted June 30, 2003 Why would Hogan have a problem with the creative direction? He was pretty much booked as the #1 face on the damn show. If he's gone, ill be so happy. niko

Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 30, 2003 Hopefully its true so they can finally devote more time and creative direction to the younger and more talented guys that have been in limbo since the focus has shifted to non-wrestlers and old timers. Guest nikowwf Report post Posted June 30, 2003 Hogan is so bad that even when he does something we want, like leaving he still manages to drag down the quality of the main events. niko
