Worse Blowouts

What are some of the horrible blowouts that you have seen or know about? Doesn't have to be just professional either. NCAA, high school, whatever. It can also be any sport.

This year I went to a 9th grade varsity team basketball game. Our girls got beat 75(somewhere around there to ZERO. That's right. ZERO. They did not score a single point in a BASKETBALL game. It was one of the most pathetic and humorous things I have ever seen. They finished the year with a record of 1-14 (I believe).

Not to be outdone by the girls, in our first football game of the season we were beat 0-55. By halftime, the other team was already in the 40's that our principals talked to the referees so that they would run the clock. Our football record was 1-8. The only team we beat was a B team.

The Red Sox/Marlins was about has bad as it gets. The Marlins threw 91 pitches in one half inning.

The year after I graduated, my high school's mighty football team (which my brother played on) got whipped on their home field 65-0, and that was with the clock running constantly throughout the second half.

The team was 1-9 that year, with their lone victory a 7-6 squeaker over a team that also finished 1-9...and we only won that one because the other team threw an interception in the end zone with under a minute to go.

The year before all this, my senior year (1996 season), we suffered defeats by scores of 35-0, 46-0, 49-0, 28-0 (Homecoming), 55-0, and 42-0. Our closest loss was 12-0 in the first game of the year (we had -1 yards of total offense in that one!). Our only win was a 20-13 win over our arch rivals...so at least the year counted for something.

Oh, and the varsity baseball team I played on as a freshman went 0-17. Ah, good times.

My high school hockey team won 5 games in the 4 years that I played.

5 games. Total. In 4 years.

NCAA football always has a blowout by some big team like say FSU over a small school like Florida A&M.

H.S Basketball: We beat a team 100-11.

The coach wouldn't let run the score up either. There was still 8:00 minutes left in the game when we hit the century mark.

What did you do for the next 8 minutes? Just dribble out the shot clock and then give it back to the other team?

I went to an Alouettes/Roughriders game where the final score ending up being something like 62-7 for Montreal.

Just for the high profile-ness of it...

49ers 55, Broncos 10.

Tampa Bay 35 Cincinnati 0 I think 1998

The first NFL game I went to and the final score was the same as the halftime score. Highlights of the game included Gramatica missing a 19 yard field goal to end the half and the Bucs running a blocked punt and an interception back.

The best was after the game Bruce Coslet said that without those two plays the Bengals would be right in the game, quite the genius Bruce!

My former high school football team went 1-9 last season. No coach has ever had an overall winning record with us - in our 50 years. We're one county over from the all-time winningest school in the United States and none of it's ever rubbed off.

Our worst is 0-63. During my high school years, we were once behind 0-45 to a school half our size at halftime. They played nice and only scored a touchdown more.

We've done better in basketball.

Our girls once won a game 113-6. It was 70-6 after three.

It's much better than a nearby county, whose girls haven't had a winning season in over 30 years. We beat them 110-25 in one game.

A couple of years ago in Division II football, Delta State was ranked #1 in the nation and was undefeated through five or six. They played Valdosta State, a conference rival. VSU won, 70-12.

In the early 1900s, Georgia Tech once whooped Cumberland College's football squad, 222-0. Cumberland's biggest gain was for three yards.

In an NFL championship game in the 1930s, the Bears whipped the Lions 73-0.

My sophomore year of high school, our varsity team, made it all the way to the section championship game, and got blown the fuck out by a score of IIRC, 77-34 (not so sure) but it sucked, dammit!

As for the pros:

Dan Marino's last game which ended in a 64-7 blowout at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

And that's all I can think of at the moment.

One I remember in 1997 - UCLA 66, Texas 3. IN TEXAS. Texas had Ricky Williams but came out passing for some reason with their second string QB, and UCLA just started getting turnover after turnover.

That was John Mackovic's last year, Brown got hired the year after. Just seems unbelievable now that Texas would get slaughtered like that anywhere.

That was one glorious game. Too bad the Jags couldn't keep the momentum up for the next game against those bastard Titans.

NFC Championship Game - New York Giants 41 - Minniseota Vikings 0.

The Jags 62-7 win over the Dolphins comes right to mind.

Last year, I think, the Red Sox beat the D-Rays 22-4, and of course the 25-8 rout of the Marlins.

A few years ago, the Redwings beat the Canadiens (or Nordiques, I don't remember) 11-1.

My middle school football team always lost by embarassing margins (40-0, 52-12, 44-0, etc)

I remember all of our fifth grade class played a big ass game of Wiffleball, our teacher randomly selected the teams and as it ends up all the good players, pretty good players and people that didn't suck end up on one team. I of course ended up on the sucky team. The score was 49-3 or something like that, a major ass whipping.

I was at the Fleet Center as a witness to the worst Celtics loss in franchise history to the Detroit Pistons (It was something like 108-56). It was so bad that in the fourth quarter everyone started cheering the Pistons.

I also remember my middle school's undefeated basketball team trouncing a 3-9 team 82-34. It was spectacular I tell yeah, the backup pointguard went 8 for 9 on three pointers.

That would be the Canadiens. The "day that will live in infamy."

That was the game where Mario Tremblay left Partick Roy in for the first 9 goals, and Roy blew past him when he was pulled to tell GM Rejean Houle that he'd just played his last game in Montreal.

Somebody already mentioned but yes the 55-10 win by the 49ers over the Broncos in Super Bowl XXIV will always stick out in my mind. Anyone who thinks John Elway is the greatest quarterback ever needs to watch that game and see if they can still say that with a straight face after watching it.

I do remember a few years back Stanford giving UCLA the beating of a lifetime in basketball. I believe the final score was something like 108-53 and was easily UCLA's biggest loss ever in basketball.

my football team won a game 42-0 which doesn't sound like much...but ONE PLAYER on our team scored EVERY POINT... he was a kicker and a running back.

He had such a huge ego after that...

in 1986 the Red Sox killed the tribe 24-5...

How about that Celts loss to the Pistons this season? I forgot the score (thankfully)

Hey, in a bit of irony, the Marlins just beat the Braves 20-1.

My football team this year went 1-5, getting outscored 212-41. In the 5 losses, that score is 205-21. Worst loss was 60-0 to our biggest rivals.

My baseball team this year went 0-18. Mercied every game except for 1.

our girls rugby team hasn't given up a point in three years, which that includes roughly 35 games.

Our football team defeated our arch rivals in the playoffs 71-6. It was 14-6 at the end of half time.

I know what you mean.

I was pulling for the Jags to win that game, damn Titans.

IIRC, wasn't this the year the Titans went to the Super Bowl? Or am I off by a year?

Now this is a great post.

I shall nominate a game during the Bulls 2nd run as 3 times champs where they jumped out 20 to nothing all over Charlotte. Memorable because the coach for Charlotte called a time out while simultaneously screaming "Fuck it! Just fuck it!" at his team.

Indeed it was. Oddly enough, every single loss during the Jags' season that year came from those fucking Titans...

I hope both McNair, George, and Gheyton(yeah, he's on Indy, but he's in the AFC South) get crippled this year and Jacksonville steamrolls their asses.

I'll nominate the Superbowl 29(?) where the 49ers beat the Chargers something like 49-21. At the beginning it just turned into a slaughter.
