NYU 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2003 I'm not really talking about past games from certain years, like NHL '94 or NBA Jam. Which one of the current major franchise games do you enjoy the most at this time ? For me, it's.... Baseball - Personally, I love MLB Slugfest. Other baseball games just seem too frustrating, with all the CONSTANT pop-ups, and too slow. Slugfest is exciting, even though the scores are always extremely high. I have to put it above every other baseball game. Football - Madden. It's either this or NFL 2K, but Madden just seems like the better done series. Basketball - NBA Street. 'Nuff said. Hockey - NHL Hitz. The game is arcadey, but most games are always very tense and full of excitement. Not to mention some of the extra mini-games in this, which are awesome as well. What are everyone else's favorite "Major 4" Sports games?
Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted July 1, 2003 I'm not really a fan of baseball games, but here are my picks for the rest: Football: Madden Basketball: NBA Street, I guess. Hockey: NHL series (NHL 2002, NHL 2003, etc).
Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Midway or Sega sports is what I prefer.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted July 1, 2003 (edited) Basketball: 2K_ series/ESPN series. Football: Right now, it's a tie between Madden and the 2K_ series. I love Madden's Franchise mode and I will probably LOVE their Ownership Mode. I hate Madden's gameplay, and love 2K_'s/EPSN's. I love EPSN's presentation and commentary. EPSN NFL Football and Madden 2004 will be the deciding vote for me. College FOOTBALL: NCAA Football 200_ all the way. EDIT: HungryJack is ghey. Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Football - Like many others, I'm torn between Madden and NFL 2K Basketball - See above Hockey - EA's NHL series, I have yet to play Sega's NHL 2K series. It should be "major 3 sports"
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Baseball: Bases Loaded Series on NES and SNES. Everything new has essentially become HOMERUN DERBY for 9 innings, and as a result, my games end up being 24-21 every game. It's NOT realistic. At least with Super Bases Loaded, I can get a 3-0 and 4-3 game, have it be exciting, without my pitcher's ERA ballooning by 15 runs for pitching 2/3 of an inning. Football: The Madden series. I hate football, but I can play the Madden series, and actually enjoy it. Hockey: It's a toss up for me. I LOVE the EA series, I've been playing NHL [enter year] since NHLPA 93 came out on the Genesis, and I prefer the graphics and gameplay. I can't pinpoint a certain year though. I'm a fan of NHL 95 and 96, but I just got NHL 2002 for my PC and I'm in love with it. So, I'll just say that Electronic Arts makes the best hockey games, IMO. Guest DrTom Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Baseball: World Series Baseball 2K3 for X-Box. The gameplay is realistic, with games not devolving into home run derbies like Triple Play always used to. Last year, I would have put WSB even with High Heat 2003, but this year, WSB has it all over High Heat '04. Franchise play is also quite well-done, an improvement over last year's. Football: It's a tie for me, too: NFL2Kx has the decided edge in gameplay, but Madden's season and career modes are better. Both games have supposedly made improvements to shore up their weaknesses in their '04 releases, so I'll probably end up buying both again. Sega's games are teriffic sims for those who like simulation value. I haven't played much in the way of basketball and hockey games in the past 2-3 years, so I'll leave those categories well enough alone.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 1, 2003 Basketball games are kind of lame to me, but that's because I am good at it and play so much that playing it on a video game doesn't do it for me. For sports games, I'm all about Madden and NFL Blitz for that non real type feel of game.
