The only reason Pike has not been invited to participate in the 3 point shooting contest is because of the stigma that comes with being a Clipper. Next season, wherever he lands, I think we will see the Polish Rifle not only get invited to All-Star weekend, but he will win the contest.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

You know you suck when your career highlight is winning the 3 point contest.

Anyway, the ~rumor of the day~ is that Larry Bird has told Carslie to lay low, so he can hire him when he eventually fires Isiah.

Keep in mind that this rumor is, in fact, a rumor.

Well...what exactly is Peja or Dirks career highlight besides winning the 3-point contest. They haven't really won anything else.

The Polish Rifle is a 10 year veteran in the NBA. He is has the most 3 point FG attempts, made and percentage in Clipper history. He does not suck. He is DANGEROUS and an asset to any team that signs him...I can see him going to the Spurs to replace Steve Smith and provide the defense for opposing teams to stay honest if they even think about double teaming Duncan.

To sit on the bench and never play a minute? haha

To contribute when called upon like Steve Kerr. Besides, the Spurs had a pretty injury-free year last season, the same cannot be expected next season.

Steve Kerr is a better comparison. Though I think Pike could do a lot more than he did. You know, contribute more than just one game a year.

Steve Smith, he's been on the bench so long I don't even remember what the hell he looks like.

Reports coming out of Toronto is that the Raptors are trying to sisgn Menke Bateer from the Spurs. Menke is the 2nd Chinese player to make it to the NBA after Wang Zhi Zhi and the 2 of them along with Yao Ming made up China's Great Wall frontline a few years ago. He is physical and has a lot of upside to his game. I thought the Spurs would have locked him up by now.

He was left off of the playoff roster for obvious reasons, but that's what a young, up and coming prospect does. They have to sit and learn before they take the league by storm.

I think he came to the States and played half a year with them. He just signed with the Raptors, so its official.

Although, I posted the news in the Clipper thread, I am happy to report that the Clippers called Brand and said that they will match his offer along with Corey Maggette's.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Point guard Tyronn Lue agreed to a two-year, $3 million deal with the Orlando Magic, a source within the NBA told The Associated Press on Friday.

The five-year veteran, who played last season for the Washington Wizards, will join the team next week, according to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The Magic also signed rookie guard Reece Gaines to a three-year, $3.15 million contract. Gaines, from Louisville, was drafted 15th overall.

Lue averaged 8.6 points and 3.5 assists as a reserve for Washington. It will be his first chance to be a starter in the NBA, although the Magic expect Gaines to eventually take over at point guard.

With Lue, Gaines and second-round draft pick Keith Bogans, the Magic revamped their backcourt, aside from NBA scoring champion Tracy McGrady.

Jacque Vaughn, who started 48 games at point guard for Orlando, wasn't asked back. And fan favorite Darrell Armstrong is unlikely to return, as the Magic are leery of the 35-year-old free agent's age and contract demands.

Lue is the Magic's second free-agent acquisition of the week. Forward Juwan Howard signed a five-year contract Wednesday.

This makes me pretty happy... Darrell is a favorite in the community, but the fact is that he is getting up there in age, i just hope he'll stay on with the Magic for a couple more years and then retire, maybe move into the front office.

Lue at the very least would shore up the PG position, and Doc can groom Gaines for the job at his leisure.

Poor Corey Maggette and Elton Brand. They were so close to escape and now they will continue to be wasted with the most embarassing team in the history of sports. And that includes all of the XFL teams for Gods sake.

Tyrone Lue can play and I'm quite happy hes out of the hellhole that is Washington. He played a lot like I would have if on last year's Washington team...give the ball to Jordan and no one else. Smart kid.

Scottie's Back

From CNNSI.com:

CHICAGO (AP) -- Scottie Pippen returned to the Chicago Bulls, re-signing with the team he helped lead to six NBA championships.

The team will have an official announcement Sunday, Bulls spokesman Tim Hallam said Saturday night.

Terms of the deal were not released, but a source in the NBA, speaking on condition of anonymity, said it was a $10 million, two-year deal.

Pippen was a seven-time All-Star in his 11 seasons with the Bulls, before leaving for the Houston Rockets before the 1999 season. Pippen has spent the past four seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers.

"We are aware that Chicago had a lot of interest in Scottie," Trail Blazers general manager John Nash said. "I talked to him on Thursday and told him we weren't prepared to move forward at this point. We thank him for his contributions. He is a true professional."

Three weeks ago, Bulls general manager John Paxson, a former teammate of Pippen, raised the possibility that he would like Pippen to return to the Chicago to finish his NBA career where it began.

The Bulls coveted the 37-year-old Pippen, an unrestricted free agent, as both a defensive-minded small forward, and mentor to young players such as Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry.

"More than anything, I want to make him feel welcome," Paxson said when he discussed the possibility of re-signing Pippen. "To me, he would be the perfect veteran leader."

He averaged 10.8 points and a team-high 4.4 assists last season with the Trail Blazers. But Pippen missed three games in the playoffs because of pain and swelling in his left knee, operated on in March.

Pippen didn't leave Chicago on the best of terms. When Coach Phil Jackson left and Michael Jordan retired before the 1999 season, Pippen was shipped off in a sign-and-trade deal to Houston by former general manager Jerry Krause.

Good move for Pippen. Back to a city that will welcome him to help out some young players who could turn into a good team at any time.

Seriously, if any of the young guys on the Bulls are willing to listen and learn, that is one dangerous team right there, this season and for a few to come. Rose, Pip, Curry, Chandler and Crawford is a pretty fuckin capable line up quite frankly.

Really, the Bulls should have no excuse for missing the playoffs this year. That's all the local talk radio has said all summer long, and now Paxson solidified that with this move today.

So, if they do miss the playoffs, I want to know how Norm Van Lier is going to spin it on Fox Sports Net.

The number 2 draft pick a few years ago by the Grizzlies. He played a few solid years with the Spurs and was traded to the Blazers last season for Steve Kerr.
