Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 22, 2003 Why are the Spurs talking to Latrell Sprewell? Are we forgetting that he choked the former Warriors head coach and now Spurs assistant coach PJ Carlismo?
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted July 22, 2003 I assume the Spurs want Sprewell to add another scorer. The Spurs tried to get him in '99 I believe, but he ended up going to NY. PJ said he'd have no problem working with Sprewell again. Pop & Spree are said to be close as well. I heard talks of a 3 way with the Spurs sending Rose to Philly, Van Horn to NY, and Spree to SA. The Sixers denied it. Whether something happens remains to be seen.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 22, 2003 Spurs do need another scorer but maybe they should work on not blowing large leads in the 4th Quarter before dismantling the team again, at this rate it will be another 4 years before another championship. Sprewell is just nothing but trouble.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted July 22, 2003 Pacers have pretty much given up on keeping Miller (no, the good one). He's going to sign with Utah. If they let him go but keep Reggie and don't fire Thomas, there will be much laughing from myself.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 22, 2003 Why not go after Sprewell. The Spurs already wasted 6 million a year on a soft crybaby center.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted July 22, 2003 ^ They should have gone after Kandi. AT least he's a 7 footer with 2 moves and he actually signed for cheap.

Sprewell is the opposite of soft and would hurt someone during practice.

Sprewell is the opposite of soft and would hurt someone during practice. Latrell Sprewell has gotten in trouble once in over a decade in the NBA. ONCE. at least 5 players have tried to physically assault PJ Carlisimo that we know of. Now could it be that PJ can REALLY piss people off? Could it be that Latrell had ONE lapse in judgement nearly 5 years ago. Let it go. He hasn't even gotten into a fight on the court in his NBA career I believe, something that Jordan, Ray Allen, and Kobe Bryant can't say and they are the "good" guys. While it was a big deal, it is over. PJ has moved on, Latrell has moved on. The only ones not moving on is a few fans that still hold on to what happened in his what..fourth year in the league. Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted July 22, 2003 Spree would be an asset to the team but is losing Malik Rose too much of a price? He has consistently played big throughout his career with the Spurs and he has stepped up when they needed him to guard the likes of Shaq. I think it would be a big mistake to let him go especially with Robinson retired and Duncan only flanked by a soft Rasho Nesterovic...Besides, they already have Ginobili. Bored 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2003 Mentioned this in the Clippers thread but here are the links: Wizards sign Gilbert Arenas, Warriors won't be able to match the offer most likely: http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2003/0721/1583869.html Warriors then sign Speedy Claxton: http://espn.go.com/nba/columns/stein_marc/1584121.html
Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 22, 2003 I hope Speedy Claxton enjoys the money, to bad he will not make the playoffs in the next 3 years.
Bored 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2003 I didn't know if I should make a new topic on this since its a trade but...BLOCKBUSTER DEAL has gone down between four teams. These are the main players in the deal just reported by Sportscenter: Latrell Sprewell to Minnesota Terrell Brandon to Atlanta Glenn Robinson to Philadelphia Keith Van Horn to New York
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted July 22, 2003 Damn good deal for the Wolves. They are looking good... Cassell Spree Wally KG Kandi
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted July 22, 2003 Yep, just heard it on ESPN. Ladies And Gentlemen! The Timberwolves are getting out of the 1st Round! They got Spree for nothing.
Guest RepoManRules Report post Posted July 22, 2003 Yep, just heard it on ESPN. Ladies And Gentlemen! The Timberwolves are getting out of the 1st Round! They got Spree for nothing. Fuck my team the Knicks. They gave away Spree for Keith "Choker" Van Horn. Probably one of the worst players in the league. Already I know they will only win 30 games. They just blew it. Guest GameCop Report post Posted July 22, 2003 Damn, the Timberwolves look like an AWESOME team. The west is gonna be extremely congested this year. Also, Lamar Odom signed an offer sheet with the Miami Heat.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted July 22, 2003 On paper the trades the Wolves have made look great. But what about the fact that their starting lineup is nearly completely different from last year's? People jumped all over the Lakers deals and said that their chemistry would be wrecked. But look at this team. I really do like all the players they got but I do have questions of how well they will play with one another. Every single player on this team except for Olowokandi is a player that needs the ball to be effective and they only got one ball.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 23, 2003 I gotta go with Lethargic on this. ON PAPER the Wolves look damn good right now, dare I say contender. But let's see if the chemistry will be there. Same goes to all teams that made big moves this off season. The reason the Lakers moves aren't as questioned is because the guys they signed are future Hall of Famers and that Phil Jackson is their coach and if anyone can get these guys to come together, it's Phil. Still, awesome move by the T-Wolves. Kevin McHale is one helluva GM pulling these kinds of moves in wake of the Joe Smith penalizing situation.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Definitely. it looks like one hell of a squad, but as with the Lakers, we shall see if they gel together as a team. I don;t know about you guys, but with every trade that is made I get a little more giddy about the upcoming season. This season is going to be the most interesting in a long, long time. Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Especially if a team takes a chance on Dennis Rodman.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted July 23, 2003 I wish the Pacers would sign Rodman. They need another rebounder with Miller leaving plus he'd be a great tag team partner for Artest. Yeah, I remember I said I'd shoot myself if Brad Miller left the Pacers. I guess I need to get a gun first.
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Fucking Sixers. Trade one scorer with no heart and end up with another scorer with no heart. Why not trade for Spree straight up? And believe me, I am one of the types who despise Spreewell but at least he seems to care while on the court.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Face it folks, the NBA has all but officially blackballed Rodman. Stern is tired of his antics and it was obvious that he doesn't care about being fined. The refs had it in for him and would call shadow fouls on him, and if he so much as said a word to the ref, he would get T'ed up. The only reason Rodman would want to come back is because he needs the money. Saying all of that, I'm a little tired of Rodman's act myself. So what if he can pull down 15-16 rebounds a game? He's also up over 40 years old, and he's nowhere near as mobile as he used to be. Add to that his freak show "look at me" antics and he can stay out of the league.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 23, 2003 What makes people think Rodman can still rebound anymore? He's 40 years old, and has been out of the league for like 4 years. It doesn't seem like he was that great when he was still playing.
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted July 23, 2003 I have heard this rumor today: It involves the Warriors trading Richardson and Fortson to the Kings for Jackson, Turkolu and Funderburke. Who knows if this will be a go, but I think that the Warriors would benefit greatly, and it would take away the sting of losing Arenas...

Who knows if this will be a go, but I think that the Warriors would benefit greatly, and it would take away the sting of losing Arenas... I would be SHOCKED if this deal went through and the Kings would be insane to do it. As a Warriors fans I'd love it though. Richardson is a human highlight real but really not much else and Fortson is a big contract they need to dump.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Know this is pure speculation on my part. What if the Wolves were to turn around and trade Sprewell to the Spurs for say Jackson, and Rose? or something that worked out on the salary cap.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted July 23, 2003 I really don't see how that helps either team. It hurts the Kings biggest advantage, their depth, by taking away two of their top backups. It really hurts the PG position because Bibby has yet to prove he can lead that team for a full season. And the Warriors really don't need three more players because their main problem is that they are log jammed and everybody on the team is bitching for more playing time instead of trying to earn playing time. Plus they just signed Claxton to be their new point, bringing in Jackson would create yet another bitchfest because the only reason Jackson wants to leave the Kings is so he can be a starter.
Bored 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2003 I don't know how it'd create a problem at point. Jackson is superior to Claxton so Jackson would start and Claxton is the back-up. Claxton would probably be pissed because he probably signed based that he'd start but oh well. Anyways I doubt the rumor will lead to anything.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted July 23, 2003 AH FUCK!!!! Fuck the Knicks. What do they want with Keith Van Horn? I remember when they were trying to trade for Sczerbiak last year and I thought the same thing.
