Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 25, 2003 What's with Robert Horry bagging on the Lakers? At the signing with the Spurs, Horry said, "I dealt with two of the most ball-hogging people in the world", he said referring to Bryant and O'Neal. "(Duncan) is not like that. You're not going to read anything in the paper about 'My teammates need to get me the ball', like another big man we know". Damn, someone seems a little sore about not getting picked up on a team option, eh?
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Meanwhile in San Antonio Duncan: "Horry wants me to pass to him?! BWAHAHHAHA!"
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2003 sour grapes or not, there's a bit of truth to that.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Horry can have the ball in the final minute of the game IF AND ONLY IF Mercer or Manu or Duncan are double teamed or in foul trouble. On the good side its nice to know there is someone on the team who is not afraid to shoot.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Like a few people have said, the Spurs got a great deal AND they'll be able to re-sign Manu next year. This team is already better than last year's. With the Lakers the favorites to win the championship, the Spurs have no pressure, as most people have all but given L.A. the title before the season even starts. As for Danny Ferry, reports say he's going to retire.
Guest alfdogg Report post Posted July 25, 2003 What's with Robert Horry bagging on the Lakers? He probably feels that he should have gotten a little more respect after WINNING THEM A CHAMPIONSHIP in 2002. With a little help from the refs in game 6 that is. Guest alfdogg Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Hey Nellie, you should go after Brad Miller. Ya hoser.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted July 25, 2003 i agree with tony. on paper, the spurs look better than last years team. with willis and kerr almost certain to return as our elder statesmen, i am down with this team. the only thing we need now is a backup point. Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 25, 2003 If Nellie did go after Miller he prolly would of have to drop the great white stick boy Shawn Bradley.........that will never happen.

Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Mercer or Turk could be the second or third option on the team. I always like Mercer since his Bulls years he's a good scorer and is a better player than Stephen Jackson. Spurs might repeat this year. Man, West has gone from Strong conference to SUPER DUPER STRONGER, There's no way any team from the East they can even keep up with 4 or 5 place west team. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 25, 2003 David Robinson's retirement is going to hurt the Spurs more than people think. People praise Nesterovic, but I don't trust the guy. He can be soft, and inconstitent way too often.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted July 25, 2003 I agree with you verne. Old or not, David is still considerable more dependable than Rasho. I still think they would have been better served if they would have brought in Kandi at the $4.9 million that the Wolves got him for.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 25, 2003 David Robinson has been injuried and unable to play good minutes the last few years, the retirement was a good thing as he went out a winner and not as a lifer who never knew when to quit. Robinson was dependable not because of his skills but because of the respect the league gave him, he was always seen as a threat even though he was way past his prime. As for Nesterovic being soft, well he will fit nicely into the Spurs team as they always has been preceived as such. Its not like the Spurs are asking for 20 points 20 rebounds from the center. Maybe the Spurs should of looked for someone that could demand respect at the center position so Tim Duncan can do his thing. But all the coach did was look for a role player, that could do more than just stand there and pass the ball to Tim. Remember the whole world does surround around Tim Duncan, in the coaches eyes. Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted July 25, 2003 It’s sad to report that the Polish Rifle Eric Piatkowski has signed a 3 year deal with the Houston Rockets. Pike was a legend as far as Clippers go and I am sure he will be invited and win the 3 point contest next season.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Is anyone happy with there picks due to the summer league performaces. I know it is only summer league but some skills will be very useful and just as impressive in the regular season. Amare Stodimire averaged more points and rebounds in the regular season than he did in the summer league, mostly due to those guys going all out so they can make a roster. Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Chris Wilcox seems to be tearing it up in the summer league for the Clips after an injury-filled disappointing rookie season. With Kandi and Rooks gone and Kamen developing, he could see significant time in the 5 spot for the Clips.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 25, 2003 All I know is that we got a 7 foot center with a crossover that goes aggressively to the hole. AND has a 3 point shot. *starts lets go suns chant*
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 25, 2003 I really like the moves and free agent signings this past off season. This is the most exciting off season since 96 when a lot of the guys now were free agents. Good stuff all around. On a serious tip, I am worried that the West is getting too strong. I like the Nets and all, but in a 7 game series, I would still take the top 5 in the West over them. Pretty soon, the NBA is going to mix the east and west teams up in the playoffs so that the best teams can meet up in the finals. The league pushed the first round to 7 game series last year, I could easily see them mixing the east and west teams in the playoffs in the hopes that the superpowers face off in the semi's instead of the earlier rounds. Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted July 25, 2003 If they ever wanted to do overall seeding, now is the time. I would give every West playoff team at least a 50/50 shot of beating the Nets. On the other hand Pistons/Nets should be good.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted July 25, 2003 They SHOULD do that. One of my gripes about the NBA and NHL is the continued use of the west vs east system. It makes NO SENSE. Why in the world should geography dictate who plays in the finals? No sense. I understand why they wanted to make a eastern and western setup years ago, it was harder to travel and made more sense for teams to play teams closer to them. But there is no more reasons for that. You can take a plane ride anywhere quicker than ever. Neither baseball or football use geography to determine their champions. I would LOVE to see the NBA restructure their system to either abolish the east/west conferences all together and instead form some sort of AFC/NFC type thing OR, better yet, keep the conferences the way they are but in the playoffs seed everybody according to record. I think it would help the lead a ton. A finals series between the Lakers, Spurs, Kings, Mavs, any of those teams, would do a LOT better in the ratings department than these slaughters we've had the past few years. For fun, under my system, last year's playoffs would've looked something like this.... Bracket 1 San Antonio vs Orlando Portland vs Philadelphia Detroit vs Utah Sacramento vs Phoenix Bracket 2 Dallas vs Houston New Jersey vs Indiana Lakers vs New Orleans Minnesota vs Boston
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Chris Wilcox seems to be tearing it up in the summer league for the Clips after an injury-filled disappointing rookie season. I was just thinking that Wilcox will have a breakout year. Performance in the Summer Camp doesn't mean anything. He's a talented player and should play well if given the opportunity. I disagree good sir. If you look, most Summer league numbers are the same for players when thtey get the same minutes. Of couse if minutes go do so do averages. But for rookies and 2nd year guys getting 30 minutes in summerleague, if they get 30 minutes in the regular season, the numbers are almost identical...sometimes better. Remember they are playing against a bunch of hungary, fresh legged youngsters trying to make a roster. Guys don't give 200000% every play in the league during the season the way they do in those summer leagues.

Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Agree. Zach Randolph was tearing it up for the Blazers summer league the past few seasons and it finally translated to actually NBA stats when he was given the opportunity last season.

Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 25, 2003 I don't know. NBA.Com mentioned that Pippen and Davis's departure mean more minutes for Randolph.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Found this on ESPN. The Spurs GM kicks ass, pulls off a big trade then rubs it in the Lakers' noses. According to my very exclusive sources with intimate knowledge of the situation, NBA commissioner David Stern received a phone call Friday morning from Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak, who complained that San Antonio Spurs general manager R.C. Buford made an inappropriate gesture. Apparently, during a video conference call, Buford sat on the edge of his desk, grabbed his crotch and yelled, "Take that, Mee-yatch."
