Guest TheBostonStrangler Report post Posted July 3, 2003 In terms of business, I'd have to say his best idea was moving Wrestlemania into these massive arenas. Before, they were often held in the smaller venues, but now they pack in 60,000 each time. They tried before, and it worked, but moving back into these massive arenas brings in a ton more cash. The other thing would be the DVD line. They're making a TON of money off of it, and they could make a hell of a lot more.
Guest crandamaniac Report post Posted July 3, 2003 Signing Ultimo, but already they are fucking up with booking by keeping him off this week's SD. I'd like to know how leaving him off one show is such a bad thing? It's not like there's any sort of program going on with him right now.

Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted July 3, 2003 I would mark out for Barbarian in a mink coat. I think the most recent smart thing the've done is get rid of old guys and bring in new guys. Yes, they would have rather kept most of the old guys, and yes, most of the new guys suck, but the very fact that it happened suggest some sort of brain activity, which is an improvement. Nah, i prefer the buffalo skin little jacket vest he had goin on there I agree saying the smartest thing is finally bringing up the young guys and giving them some good tv time. John Cena, Haas, Benjamin, Brock, Batista, Randy Orton, Doug Basham, Damaja (Danny Basham), Nowinski, Maven I believe all have some sort of potential....some may have A LOT of potential and could end up being big times players while otheres have MUCH LESS, but there's only one way to find out. I'd rather see those guys then Hogan, Piper, Nash, etc...

LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2003 Of course you're gonna have exceptions like Sable, Goldberg, and Steiner
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 3, 2003 That's not the exception. What storyline was the biggest on Smackdown for the past *checks* 5 months? That had about 7 segments per show? McMahon vs. Hogan The 4 main storylines going into BadBlood were: HBK vs. Flair, Jericho vs. Goldberg, HHH vs. Nash, Austin vs. Bischoff - of whom *2* are regular house show workers and *none* are under the age of 30 and, _6_ are over or near 40. (hell, that's just the ones I know right now, I wouldnt be surprised if Jericho or Goldie were near it either)

Do you expect them to be main eventing ppv's right away? Did you like seeing the Natural Born Thrillers shoved down our throats in WCW? It takes time, it's not gonna happen right away......of those guys you mentioned...Hogan's gone, Nash pretty much dissapeared, Piper's gone, Zach Gowan is one of the new guys, Goldberg can go fuck himself, I don't mind HBK cause he can still work, and Asutin vs. Bischoff is dumb, but at least they're not wrestling
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 3, 2003 What I'm arguing is this supposed "elevation" of new talent. When the key storylines are driven by *old men* I don't see where this "WWE is finally pushing the young guys man!" is coming from.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted July 3, 2003 Austin has done what very few men can do.................put LANCE STORM and KANE over in the WWE. I don't care for Bischoff as GM and wish he would dissappear like Nash and HBK. Eric has a BORING personality, he does nothing as The Man with power on Raw. What has Bischoff done as the GM? His 3 Minute Warning boys went nowhere as his enforcers. Bischoff was hilarious and entertaining as the sleazy heel when he first started out. So much so that the supposed face Stephanie was loathed and Bisch was loved. They made him stop being a smart ass and a jerk, and made him be a boring all-out prick. You don't make Daddy's Little Girl look bad, after all. Bisch did entertain me a lot, until they turned him into this boring, neutered, lame, stupid, generic heel figurehead persona. Although when he fired JR and did his shameless promotion mocking JR and his BBQ sauce, I did laugh my ass off. Fuck you Austin for hiring JR back.
Guest Miss Independant Report post Posted July 3, 2003 Are you saying that Orton isn't getting a push? Zach Gowan either? Hass and Shelton weren't involved in an angle with Kurt Friggin' Angle? And that Brock Lesnar wasn't given the strap? Yeah, some new guys have gotten fucked over and some suck and have one too few limbs and there are way too many old dubbers still clinging on, but you can't say that they haven't pushed new faces. Guest Sakura Report post Posted July 3, 2003 When we say we want "new stars pushed" take that to mean "good new stars pushed". We need a disclaimer that says that at the bottom of the forum.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 3, 2003 I don't think it's so much Bischoff upstaging Steph so much as it is Bischoff bringing in _no_ ratings and Vince saying "well, time to make him my bitch!"

Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted July 3, 2003 Goldy is around 38...Jericho HAS to be in his mid 30's... Chris Jericho, born in December of 1970, thus 32. I'd believe the "old stars pushed out, new stars pushed in" a little more if Nash and Steiner weren't hanging around RAW, and there wasn't constant kowtowing to Taker, Gunn and the APA on SD. Guest Miss Independant Report post Posted July 3, 2003 I swipped it from London's on again, off again website. Ain't it cute? I'd believe the "old stars pushed out, new stars pushed in" a little more if Nash and Steiner weren't hanging around RAW, and there wasn't constant kowtowing to Taker, Gunn and the APA on SD. Yeah, it'd be great if those guys could just fall off the face of the planet, but really, if Vince sublimated his older crew for a bunch of green no-names over night, it'd be a disaster. Things like building new starts take time. An argument to that is "Brock sure didn't have much time", but he's one man. I'm not saying that Vince is actually planning to revamp the crews in such a drastic manner, Lord knows H and Austin will probably be woloping each other over the head with their hernia rings 20 years from now in a Polydent on a Pole Match, but there are new faces in the crowd, good and bad, that I personally enjoy watching. Damn people, give it a FEW weeks at least before you start talking about how WWE is destroying Ultimo Dragon. Exactly. Give them time before they royally screw up. Things like building new starts take time. It doesn't take as much time as they say it does. The problem with the old guys is that as long as they are around, they will be pushed to the top. It would be great if they could be gradually eased down the card, but guys like the Undertaker simply won't let that happen. Look at Hogan. The Mr. America thing could have been an amusing mid/low card bit, but it soon became the focus of the show. I don't know if it was Hogan's politicking or Vince desiring the spotlight for himself, or maybe even it's simply that Vince is used to booking Hogan at the top of the card. Maybe it's a combination of these things and more. However it happened, it tookover Smackdown. Now, if the old guys were gone, period, this would not happen. Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted July 3, 2003 The Ultimo thing is because we've spent the last 2 months thinking of ways they could fuck up Ultimo, so when do it on the 2nd week people kind of get worried.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 3, 2003 In the past 5 years only 4 men have been "main event stars" - Austin (98), HHH (00), Rock (99), and Lesnar (02). Angle (01) is on the edge. 3 years ago they "elevated" Angle with Benoit and Jericho - cue the glass ceiling. Benoit and Jericho are strictly mid-card. Now, call me crazy, but 5 years to create 4 stars is too fucking long - so excuse me when I giggle when people say that the WWE has been "out with the old, in with the new" as the past year and a half have seen the arrival of Hogan, Nash, Goldberg, Steiner, Flair, Sable, Piper, Michaels, with Vince putting himself in the headlining WM match. Guest Mr Monday Night Report post Posted July 3, 2003 Three letters... XFL Seriously though, probably the best decision lately was the brand switching... I hated the idea at first, and no matter how much Raw sucks, it DID what they wanted it to... I really think the reason Smackdown is so good is cuz its basically all young stars, where Raw you have the likes of Flair, HHH, Nash, Michaels, and so many others (bah gawd the Hosses of Raw!!).
