Guest Some Guy Report post Posted July 2, 2003 For those who picked up HBK's DVD you know it's set up differently than Hogan's, Taker's, HHH's, Rey's, etc... It has no puff piece bio and is basically HBK introducing the matches (some of which are availible on DVD already (HiaC, Mind Games, SS 02) and a ton of extras, some cool (Shawn's heel turn on teh Barbershop for one) and otehrs aren't (countless PPV ads and an AWA promo that is barely audible). I like teh basic format of "From the Vault" better as the bios tend to be full of shit, but the execution wasn't as good as it could have been. For instance why put teh HiaC ont eh disc when it's on Taker's and they had a very hard to find match teh month before (that I've never seen), why put the SS 02 match when it's on teh SS DVD and is so new, why put HBK vs. Foley on when it's on Hard Knocks and not put teh Ladder rematch with Hall?, why not put a WWF match with the Rockers, perhaps againt the Hart Foundation. Why not have the subject do commentary tracks for all the matches if they don't have to sit down for a long interview and have them do it with JR or Tazz or anyoen otehr than Coach, who doesn't know shit about WWF or wrestlign in general from before he was hired. And finally why not cut out a lot of those PPV spots and silly promos and add more DX stuff and matches, why not put his WM 14 match and let him talk abotu how he was feeling through out it. What do you guys think about "From the Vault" vs. the regualr Wrestler DVDs?
Guest godthedog Report post Posted July 2, 2003 they've both got potential. the superstar series could be PHENOMENAL if the wwf would just figure out how to do it right and not turn every video into a ridiculous exercise of self-fellatio. if they'd just let the wrestlers tell their own stories and splice it with the appropriate video footage, they'd be gold. Guest starvenger Report post Posted July 2, 2003 I think that from a money standpoint the "Superstar" tapes are good as an introduction to the person or character - for instance the Rey Mysterio feature was good for people to peer into his life and all that. Not blow away, but pretty good. From there, if a wrestler merits another compilation, do a "From the Vault" DVD like with Michaels. This one may repeat some matches that are already out there, but for the most part are the wrestler's picks. And throw in a favourite "classic" match as well, a la Flair-Steamboat on HHH's "The Game" DVD.
Guest Karnage Report post Posted July 3, 2003 If they put rare clips of interviews on the main program of the Superstar series and lessen the ego stroking, it would be good. They wouldn't hafto put those interview clips as features and have more space for matches. Also, it would be a lot better if every DVD had atleast 2 discs. Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted July 3, 2003 They should also start releasing these things more frequently. Perhaps once a month or once every two months.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted July 3, 2003 I have a feeling that an Austin one can't be too far away. I'd buy it if it had Blondes v. Flair/Arn on it. I lost my tape with that match on it.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 3, 2003 I saw it at fye for 19.99. But my hatred for Shawn precludes me from buying the DVD
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 3, 2003 I still haven't found it either. Everywhere around here has already sold out of it.
Guest Slapnuts00 Report post Posted July 3, 2003 I like Superstar Series format better since there are full extra matches added as extras anyway after the bio feature. With the form the vault its really just the matches and then lames promos and such for extras. But I'll take what I can get! I ordered the Rey and HBK DVDS from BN.com over a week ago and still havent gotten them!
Betty Houle 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2003 I have a feeling that an Austin one can't be too far away. The next two people getting DVDs are Brock (later this year) and Flair (early 2004).
Guest kane3212321 Report post Posted July 3, 2003 On a side note, how awful is the AWA match on the DVD. It's so painfully long and boring, all it is is punch, elbow, punch elbow for 15 minutes.

I didn't say it was next, I said it can't be too far away. And On a side note, how awful is the AWA match on the DVD. Guest starvenger Report post Posted July 3, 2003 Deep Discount DVD doesn't have it, which is a shame, because they generally have good prices. Best Buy has it, but it's $23+tax...
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted July 3, 2003 I got HBK's at FYE for 17.99. It was still on the cart and hadn't been priced yet, a week after it came out. Best Buy and Strawberries didn't have it.

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2003 What DVD was HIAC on? I pretty much bought the DVD (still waiting.. hurry up Amazon) for that match and the Nash match since I own the rest on either VHS or DVD already. Edit: Oh probably an Undertaker DVD. I refuse to touch those.

I suggest that if you order almost anything wrestling related, go to Highspots. Sorry Zach....

I pretty much bought the DVD (still waiting.. hurry up Amazon) for that match and the Nash match since I own the rest on either VHS or DVD already. Edit: Oh probably an Undertaker DVD. I refuse to touch those. It is on Taker's, which I bought for the HiaC, now I feel stupid for having wasted $20 or so on that DVD. 'Taker does tap out on the thing, however it's to his cro-magnon faced wife.
Guest Ray Report post Posted July 6, 2003 I don't know about you guys, but I want MATCHES, and I want as many as possible. All the bios/promos/ads/etc.... come in way behind matches on my want list. I'd take a Steve Austin DVD with his 15 best matches over a DVD with 6 matches and a bio.
