Just saw T3.....

The Terminator flicks are always no lose situations. You'll either get a captivating plot or you'll get a chance to turn your brain off for 2 hours and watch shit blow up for no reason. I shall check it out and enjoy it on some level.

I think it was a good blow up shit action movie. The crane chase scene was full of destruction of city streets, the restroom fight scene had a Puro chokeslam in it, and robots blowing shit up with guns.

The ending actually made sense.

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

No happy bullshit ending here!

Well, whaddya know! I happened to see it too!

Here's something I couldn't fit into the above article...the most intriguing thing to me about the film was the subtext behind the conflict of Arnold and Kristanna Loken. It's a no-brainer to anyone that Arnold's getting old (he even says this in the film when he refers to himself as "obsolete"), and thus firmly represents the "old school" super-masculine heroes of '80s action films. Loken, on the other hand, represents the super-sexy, tight-leather "new school" female heroine - the revived Charlie's Angels, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Kill Bill, etc. Although in this case it happens to be, it's not a battle of the sexes, but Arnold refusing to bow out by battling to keep his career and credibility as an action star.

Oh yea, read my review. Please?

Harry Knowles gave a positive review.

Hardly a good sign. Armageddon/Godzilla/Phantom Menace etc...the man loves the most vapid shit around. But then, its entirely possible that T3 does in fact feature vampires and werewolves, thus making it awesome.

As for T3 itself, the trailers I've seen resemble dung and I really thought that the ending to T2 was highly conclusive. In its own context, at least. I just thought that the ending message of a non-predetermined future type thingy was cool. Eh, I'm sure T3 will be a bit of fun, though, despite the fact that there is no way in hell the new Terminator could ever hope to be as cool as the T-1000.

So, in wrestling terms, Arnold's T-100 is Hogan and refuses to put the T-X over?

That's actually exactly what it is...at least as I interpreted it.

Just saw it. Great sequel, maybe not as great as T2, but much better in terms playing with the general audience and a much more satisfying ending.

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

In T3 Arnold shows his age. He's not as pumped up as he was in the first flick, and doesn't do a whole lot of the action. But that's ok, in the Terminatrix fills in in that department. I don't know who played, but she did a wonderful job. It wasn't great acting, but she handled the coldness of the character well. I'm surprised no mention has been given to the actor who plays John Connor. He's basicly the real hero of the film and fills in for the missing Linda Hamilton as the dominate presence of the movie. Also, a lot more humor in this one, mostly implied humor, which is a nice break from Cameron's serious style in T1 and T2.

The action kicked ass. The truck scene was fun, as were the final hours before Judgment Day. Oh yeah, that. Hard-core fans will cry over the plotholes (how it was "postponed" was never really mentioned) but the plot does make for great storytelling. T2's humane message of "No fate but what we make" is opposed to T3's much colder meesage of "you can't run from fate", and the character of John Connor must deal with which one to believe. In the end, he kind of acepts both (choosing his future, even though fate brought him to it) as the bombs fall down and despite his best efforts humanity is bumped down a notch.

I would recommend that you see this movie in theaters. It's fun, at the very least for the action. I can see a T4 in the future, since after spending 3 movies dealing with the past they can know show wahat happens in the future.

No James Cameron...and it shows.

The movie felt very rushed and I felt like I was spending most of it wondering what the hell was going on. I was mighty dissapointed.

Anyone else see it? Thoughts?

Judging from the handful of threads already dedicated to the movie, I'd say it's a safe bet to say that some people have seen it. Is it that hard to keep one particular topic within one thread and not have several dedicated to it? This ain't the wrestling folder, where that sort of thing will never go away, a lot easier to keep track of things in this folder.

I'm kicking X2 to the curb, T3 is now my favorite movie of this summer. The movie was fantastic. As far as sequels go it's one of the best ones I can think of. It did everything right. It took the first movies and made them better. Not only did it make me understand why it exists and why everything still happens and made it make sense, it even took the first two movies and made THEM make more sense. Just goes to prove that when you take a good property from a shitty director and give it to a good one, good things happen.

The action and FX were amazing. The whole car chase scene was insane. Made the Matrix's car scene look like total shit. The sheer amount of damage and destruction this movie made was sick. I was just sitting there thinking "how did they do that?!" numerous times. They basicaly destroy an entire city street. I thought the Hulk raised the bar on fully CGI created characters and now I think T3 has raised the bar VERY high on the use of CGI along with practical FX. And should I even mention how much better it was than T2? I mean, back then people thought it was cool when Robert Patrick got shot and they taped silver ashtrays on his chest.

I just saw the flick. A hell of a lot better than I expected. IMO, the truck/chase scene in T3, puts the Matrix Reloaded chase scene to shame. It is a lot more "fun" there is 100x times the damage being done, AND, it looks a lot more REAL.

I highly recommend this flick, and I might have to watch it again this weekend.

Haha, I did my reply, before I even read what you had to say. I agree ten times over with basically everything you said. I am still amazed at how REAL everything in this flick looked, compared to other "FX-driven" movies this summer.

My biggest problem with the movie was the crane chase scene. Don't get me wrong, it was good...but it just lasted FOREVER.

I gotta question about crane chase scene. Was it better than the chase in The French Connection?

Just got back. Really, really enjoyed it. It's no T2, but it is a well-shot, well-directed, and infinitely *charming* film. And the last five minutes, the quietest of the film, are a perfect, beautiful little coda. I was surprised, but I really liked the whole thing. Ridiculous cliches aside, it was a good time with a lot of great moments. And I found Nick Stahl strangely compelling, too. It went fast and isn't as epic as what came before it, but it is a very fun, well-constructed movie.

T3 > X2> Matrix: Reloaded > Hulk

X2 is the perfect stand alone sequel with the best writing out of the 4 you listed.

Matrix: Reloaded was the thinking sequel, "whoa" my brain hurts, this is the movie which is the near perfect middle sequel because you can watch Matrix 1 & 2 back to back and it would seem like one long movie.

Hulk had good intentions as being a serious drama but sadly the ending killed whatever joy you can get out of it. I kind of wished that M. Night directed this movie instead.

T3 much like Matrix this movie fits perfectly with in the trilogy movie universe. To quote the Terminator I like the movie says volumes. But to say that this is the best sequel action movie of the year, well I have to disagree.

X2 > T3 > Matrix > Hulk

X2 just had a better cast.

I just came back from seeing it and i thought it was quite good........Not as good as Terminator (which i think is the best) or T2, but they explain the plot holes from T2, and it's pretty compelling. The ending to me was fantastic and made the most sense of all possible endings they could have done.

I wonder if they're planning a T4.........this time it should take place solely in the future

I saw T3 a few hours ago. Didn't really mean to, friend had an instant urge to see it. It was good enough action. The car scene near the beginning was great. X2 has been my favorite movie this year though.

And the female terminator is way hotter in the movies then in the priviews.

Funniest part

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

When the gay guy says "talk to the hand." Arnold grabs his hand, twists it, and actually talks to the guy's hand.

NOTE: DO NOT go into this expecting it to better than T2, you will leave the Theatre disapointed.

I thought the movie was excellent. Easily(In my opinion), the best movie of the summer.

Seen it twice Wed, and once on Thur.

Moscow does an excellent job directing. I liked the fact that he didn't attempt to "Out - direct" James Cameron.

Kristanna Loken did an decent job in what was her first major role. Like someone said before she did what she was suppose to do. She brought the action and coldness to the role like Robert Patrick before her.

Sarah Conner leaving the Weapons in the Casket for John to find was classic.

All day, my friends have been saying "Skynet looked like garbage at the end" or " Don't you think it wasn't unrealistic having Kate fall in love with John knowing that hours before her Fiancee was murdered?"...

1. That wasn't Skynet, it was a Fallout Shelter meant for them to live in.

2. Yeah, but once you find out that John is your Husband...

Overall...

T2: JD > T3: ROTM > T

Arnold's T-100..

Ahem. He's a Cyberdyne Systems model 101. He was obsolete in the second movie.

There's no topping Robert Patrick as a terminator. He was too perfect for that role. But the girl did a good job.

Yeah, Robert Patrick was perfect, but this girl did a damn good job of being a cold caculated terminator too.

I say IF there is a T4, which i have to imagine there will be, have it take place in the future in 2029 and show the war between the humans and machines. The perfect plot would be for Arnold to be bad again and try to hunt down John Connor
