What did you guys think

Recommended Posts

Eh, I know it's a big time accomplishment to be in a wrestling ring with one leg and im not trying to take away the guys accomplishments and determination........but, i wasn't really impressed with him doing about 10 dropkicks and a moonsault. Seriously, before the moonsault all I saw was dropkicks from him. I'm not too impressed yet, but maybe it was because he was wrestling The Big show.

what did you guys think of him?

I can't really judge his quality as a wrestler right now, to tell the truth. It was pretty surreal for me to see Zach do what he was doing.

I'm impressed with his one-legged moonsault and also simply with the fact that he overcame his handicap to become a pro wrestler.

Guest Thunder Rising!!!

yeah...

he was wrestling with TBS... LOL!!!

But on the other hand, this is the only 6 moves WWE we are talking about.

His gimmick is the underdog with lots of heart, so i guess most of the time he is selling instead of dishing out offense.

Anyone who watches any of his matches other than his 2 TNA matches and his debut WWE match?

If so can you list his movesets?

From what i remember:

-moonsault

-asai moonsault

-dropkick

-springboard dropkick

I sure hope the WWE's goal is to NOT elevate the guy to the top, but to keep him to the low-midcard and TRY to get the fans to not worry about the fact that he has one leg. As LooseCannon mentioned, this kid has to be able to do basic wrestling maneuvers for that to happen.

I imagine the WWE is kinda fucked now that Hogan is gone, as Gowan turning heel for his contract and allying with Vince is no doubt what they had in mind.

I say add him to the 3 way at Vengence w/ Show, Lesnar and Angle.

I've seen him a few times in indies around Michigan. He's pretty much arial. He does a lot for what little he has, but any match he wins kills any believablility left in wrestling.

What i wanna know is CAN the guy do basic moves like a bodyslam, vertical suplex, generic stuff like that?

Downhome's our Zach Gowan specialist, so he'll know the answer to that. He'll probably be in here sooner or later. :)

How did you jump to this conclusion?

Yeah, I must have missed something. And Zack cannot work as a heel, cause he's not a threat to anyone

I thought Zac performed amazingly well last night. I watched his match in utter astonishment.

What he can do is very impressive, but anyone he defeats may be forever tarnished.

I was disturbed more than impressed. I didn't like it.

That doesn't take away from any respect I have to for him making it in the business though.

Then what's the point of keeping him employed? He is, obviously, a little slow setting up his spots, and even he's being thankfully modest and admits that if he has two legs he wouldn't be working there.

Might as well milk the appeal while they can.

I seriously worry about the kid snapping the other leg though. Flipping around like that is bad enough for most people, but he's also putting all his weight on that one leg.

When it was announced that Zack Gowen a.k.a. Tenacious Z was signed by the WWE, I almost quit watching the WWE right there.

I think that pretty much sums up my feelings. I have nothing against him personally, it just makes me ill to watch him compete. Something about that fucking nub stump. :pukes:

I still haven't watched Smackdown or RAW in a couple months thanks to work having me close Mondays and Thursdays, but from what I've seen of Z in TNA and what's being said about him here, it's impressive.

I wonder how much strength training he does on that leg..

I've seen him do bodyslams, suplex's of all sorts, and much more.

Keep in mind, this is WWE that we are talking about as said before. They are obviously going to limit his moveset a bit right now, just as they do for anyone.

To be honest, I have enough faith in the guy that he is able do do just about anything else that any other "normal" wrestler could do. I've seen him fly, I've seen him "wrestle", and I've seen him mix it up with a little hardcore action.

I'm not saying he's the best wrestler out there, he's far from that. I mean, consider this...

...the guys only been wrestling for just over a year, he's a total newbie. I mean, he didn't even really TRAIN to wrestle professionally untill last year. As far as he's came, all that he's acomplished, it's just simply amazing.

I'll be the first to admit that had he not lost his leg, he wouldn't be where he is today. Hell, Zack himself will be the very first to tell you that, he's said so in many interviews and even to me personally.

All I ask is to give the guy time, let him actually develop and improve, as he can no nowhere but up. I think it's rather obvious that he has both the true talent and especially the heart to be a Pro. Wrestler, we just have to wait and see what he is able to become. I'm not saying to give him the world title, I'm just saying let's wait and see.

Also, I recognize the suspense of belief which is a must in his matches. Sure it looks like someone should just be able to go after his one good leg right off the bat, should be able to push him over in a single swat, and everything else. Just remember, this is Pro. Wrestling. It's the form of entertainment that more than any other of it's sort, which is a MUST for the viewer to suspend belief for the program. Hell, just look at instances in the past where small guys like Rey Jr. went over much larger guys, you have to suspend your belief even for that.

Just wait untill they allow him to actually get in the ring and wrestle an entire match, perhaps with someone a bit smaller, you know, than The Big Show. I can't wait to see him get i there with a few crusierweights or even someone as small as a Benoit, Eddy, or even Angle. He's got potential, and I have faith in him.

It was fawking weird watching him perform while hobbling on one leg, but I could fell the story, going up against Big Show, giving it all your heart, I think anybody would do it. Hell, anytime Big Show gets beat up is good time. Seeing him do the moonsault, just blew my mind. I'm pretty if his plastic leg was attached, he could add more moves with the added support (bodyslam, suplex, hurricarana)

He's a threat as a babyface?

I'd prefer him as a heel, his natural character is a heel in itself, he just looks and acts more like a heel. It just comes natural to him.

I've seen him work as a heel a few times, and it was pretty damn cool, heh.

No, but a babyface doesn't have to be a threat.

I'm still worried that bouncing all that weight around (not like he's really heavy, but you get what I mean, most wrestlers have two legs to distribute their load and they STILL get pretty banged up) is going to leave him even more crippled than he already is.

Ya know. I'm probably going to Hell for this and I'm most likely a bad person but I've been thinking of a few good things about him having 1 leg.

-Less chance of a knee injury

-Only 1 quad to tear

-About 25 lbs(i'm guessing) lighter than another guy his size

-It's been mentioned before but, he can't lose the Rumble

That is a very good point that I haven't even thought of yet.
