Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 4, 2003 I wasn't too impressed. Nothing he did made me jump out of my seat or anything. His character is just so god damn annoying that I can't get behind him
Guest Kid Kablam Report post Posted July 4, 2003 What i wanna know is CAN the guy do basic moves like a bodyslam, vertical suplex, generic stuff like that? Rey Rey doesn't do any suplexes. Rey's offense is pretty much just his legs
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted July 4, 2003 Rey Rey doesn't do any suplexes. Rey's offense is pretty much just his legs And he sells more than RVD, too. Mysterio 4 World Champ.
Guest The Hamburglar Report post Posted July 5, 2003 Mysterio really does rule all. There isn't nearly enough grovelling praise towards his almighty greatness. His selling in his title win over Hardy was just fucking beautiful.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 5, 2003 In a few months he'll be in the Spike Dudley role of getting beat up to put heat on the hosses. All I ask is to give the guy time, let him actually develop and improve, as he can no nowhere but up. ..Actually, this is probably as high as he will go. It's the form of entertainment that more than any other of it's sort, which is a MUST for the viewer to suspend belief for the program. Hell, just look at instances in the past where small guys like Rey Jr. went over much larger guys, you have to suspend your belief even for that. Seeing two guys punch eachother a dozen times without getting a scratch on him is suspension of disbelief. Watching someone hit elaborate moves like a superplex or a torture rack is suspension of disbelief. Seeing a very young, very lanky, very one-legged rookie compete with bigger, stronger, experienced, and of course, two-legged wrestlers is akin to watching two-headed aliens from the future participate in WWE matches. IE: Disbelief cannot be Suspended, but rather, completely thrown out of the window and buried 50 feet deep into the ground.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted July 5, 2003 RRR: How would you have handled Zack Gowen in the WWE?
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 5, 2003 Hard to say. Part of me would just have him be just-another-wrestler who debuts, loses, and works his way up. No real attention paid on his disability, the announcers make mention of it and whatnot, but it's not a focal point of a big angle. He loses his matches but gets asked back because of his dedication and heart, etc. Each match he gets closer and closer to victory building until he actually wins one - all the wrestlers come down to the ring to congratulate him and put him on their shoulders, that sorta deal. Then another wrestler gets jealous and beats him up, thus putting him in a feud and that carries on. After that put him in a tag team with someone (a partner gets injured, someone is needed to fill the roll) and they eventually win the tag titles. That's probably as high as he could go, a singles title would be pushing it, depending on how over he is and how well he does maybe after the tag run he'd get a shot at the US title. The other half of me would have him wrestle his first match on PPV and for like a month build him up beforehand. Kinda like what the WWE did, but not so much time dedicated to the angle and none of the sight gags and retarded puns.
Guest Sakura Report post Posted July 5, 2003 A two headed wrestler would be pretty cool.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 5, 2003 Also, I recognize the suspense of belief which is a must in his matches. Sure it looks like someone should just be able to go after his one good leg right off the bat, should be able to push him over in a single swat, and everything else. Just remember, this is Pro. Wrestling. It's the form of entertainment that more than any other of it's sort, which is a MUST for the viewer to suspend belief for the program. Hell, just look at instances in the past where small guys like Rey Jr. went over much larger guys, you have to suspend your belief even for that. Rey is extremely fast and pulls out moves out of nowhere. It isn't that hard to suspend disbelief with him. ZACH HAS ONE LEG! I can't suspend my beliefs watching him since he has ONE LEG. That's just too much to ask for me to believe. I hope they don't give him a major push or anything. I'm sick of him already
Guest undisputedjericho Report post Posted July 5, 2003 It's been mentioned before but, he can't lose the Rumble We may have something here...

I honestly think that with skillful writers, performers, and bookers, they could get us to buy ANYTHING. Of course, this WWE, where if we get one of those three elements on any given show if we're lucky.
