Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 4, 2003 First off, no, I'm not working for "the man" trying to get names...seriously. But who downloads movies online? I went to see T3 last night, and while I understand some movies just have to be on a big screen. (T3, X2, LOTR) And some movies are just fun in a big crowd. (Jackass, American Pies) But for my money I'd rather download most of them. Especially when you can get movies in the theater in picture perfect quality, like the 28 Days Later I just got. Granted, if I like the movie enough I'll still buy the DVD. So they're not losing all of my business or anything. I just watched The Transporter on my computer and I'm going to get the DVD this weekend. I have a handful of movies on my computer now: One Hour Photo, Secretary, Darkness Falls, Equilibrium, Frailty, Ghost Ship. And like I said, if I like them enough I'll buy them (plus I'm almost out of space on my CPU and will need to make room) I've seen 3 movies in the theater this year and have at least 3 more to go. Which is a lot for me. So how do you do it? Do you see everything on the big screen and download nothing? Do you download everything? Or are you half and half? Guest MrRant Report post Posted July 4, 2003 I don't do it manly because I don't want to sit infront of my computer to watch a movie.
Guest What? Report post Posted July 4, 2003 Only skate videos, really... like, right now I'm downloading Blind "Video Days" and Girl "Yeah, Right" Every other movie, I just go and see if it intrigues me. But, then again, nothing really intrigues me nowadays.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 4, 2003 Yeah, I've never liked the idea of sitting at the computer to see a movie. But it's not as bad as I thought it would be. As long as you have a comfy chair.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2003 I downloaded X2 to mainly tide me over till the DVD comes out [sEPTEMBER 17TH!!! *squee*] and to see if I could screencap from it. The damn thing is too poor of quality, though {}. Although, it seems others haven't had the same problem, as there are *tons* of screencaps already out there, as well as icons. Guest DrTom Report post Posted July 4, 2003 The only movies I download are the limited-release ones which look interesting and aren't playing around here. For the bigger releases, I like seeing them on the big screen with kick-ass sound systems.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 4, 2003 I have my sources that in the past I have received about 20 or so movies. The weirdest one I have is Mr Deeds with what seems to be Swedish subtitles. The best quality one I have is Momento which looks to be a DVD rip. The Jay and Silient Bob movie is a prepreduction one which is funny because it has a different song playing when they meet Justice, it has a Prince song at Mooby Burger and a diff RUN DMC song at the van scene. That must be an early cut, cause in "An Evening With kevin Smith" he talks about asking Prince if he could use the song and Prince refused.
Guest Karnage Report post Posted July 4, 2003 I download episodes of TV shows. Watched the whole series of Chappelle Show through my computer.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted July 4, 2003 I go to the movies once or twice a week. Lately, i've really gotten into downloading movies. So if I see a movie that I like at the Theatre, I download it to hold me over until the DVD is released. I've been downloading alot over the past 3 weeks, I have: The Italian Job Wrong Turn Bruce Almighty Hollywood Homicide 2 Fast 2 Furious X2 28 Days Later Anger Management I guess T3 should be online sometime next week. Hey YNA, I get my movies off of Kazaa. What do you use ? Anything worth trying ?
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 4, 2003 Kazaa, I just got cable internet. I just watched Anger Management on my computer, nothing special
Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 4, 2003 Bit Torret is the best for movies and tv shows. Emule, Edonkey, Shareaza or whatever is on zeropaid.com
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted July 4, 2003 Be careful when attempting to download The Hulk. I didn't care much for the movie, but my neighbor wanted to check it out. So i'm downloading and decide to preview it, I end up with X2. EDIT: YNA, The Transporter DVD is eh. You get the Trailer, making of The Transporter, and 15 minutes of extended fight scenes. The movie itself was good.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 4, 2003 I liked the movie enough to where I'll want to own it. I already downloaded and watched the Hulk...sooooooooo boring.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Report post Posted July 4, 2003 I only downloaded movies I refuse to pay $7.50 to go see, much like Anger Mangement, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, Just Married, and Darkness Falls, etc.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted July 5, 2003 I download movies I want to see but don't play around here like Equilibrium, Brotherhood of the Wolf, One Hour Photo. Or if it's something I want to see but it's not theater worthy I'll download it like 1000 Corpses, Signs or Jackass. Really, the only thing I wanna see in the theater is something like T3, X2, Hulk, the big blow crap up movies. FX movies that need to look good or sound good. Otherwise I'll just download it. I don't need to watch Far From Heaven with perfect video. And a lot of times after I see something, I download it and watch it again. As soon as I got back from Confessions of a Dangerous Mind I start downloading it. Same with Jason X, X2, other things. I don't watch them on my computer, I burn them to VCD and watch them on TV. What I really don't get is the stuff that Youth said where he has a bunch of movies on his computer that are currently available on DVD. I don't get that kind of stuff. I don't understand why I look for movies on Kazaa and so many people STILL have the Matrix on their computer even though it's available in every bargain bin in the world by now. Once something is on DVD, I'll rent it or check it out from the library, I'm not gonna download it THEN. I only download stuff so I don't have to go to the theater. But really downloading movies is rare for me. Well, I probably do it a lot compared to MOST people but I don't think I do it that much. Once a month maybe. My downloading consists mostly of TV shows now. I usually have about 100 shows on my computer and hundreds more in my various download queues in the various file sharing programs. Once again, put them on CD-RW, play them on my DVD player, tape them to VHS, wipe out the CD and burn something else on there. A never ending cycle of thievery. Guest Marshall Report post Posted July 5, 2003 You do know that you dont have to watch it on your computer? If you've downloaded and mpeg or bin file you can make a vcd and watch on your DVD player. BTW, an SVCD of T3 is online right now.
SpikeFayeJettEdBebop 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2003 I dont DL movies SIMPLY because I have 56K. Only movie I have downloaded on my computer was Battle Royale because there is NO WAY to get it in the US...and thats where I live., I was gonna DL 28 Days Later but I decided it would take too long and stopped the DL. I use Kazaa also.
Guest SweetNSexyDiva Report post Posted July 7, 2003 I download a lot of movies... Triple X, Fight Club, Queen of the Damned, Lilo and Stich, and 8 Mile to name a few. We have a DVD burner so we don't have to watch on the computer. A very good investment. The DVDs cost about $4 a piece to burn (disc cost of course), but far cheaper than the standard $20 + or the $9.50 in the movie theater.
Guest The Old Me Report post Posted July 7, 2003 I'm probably half and half. I hate eDonkey, the speed really sucks. I'm pro WinMx baby. It's the only way to go.

Guest Shanghai Kid Report post Posted July 8, 2003 Has anybody gotten T3 yet? I tried downloading it and ended up with 28 Days.
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted July 8, 2003 I got ganked once when trying to dl "The Ring" ... it was broken down into two parts, and the second one was messed up and cut off the top part of the screen. So I saw the first half but didn't get to watch the second. So, I've been hesitant to try again. If a movies not worth seeing in the theatre I'll wait for cable or for it to be released into video stores. I do dl tv shows all the time. In the mood for a certain episode of the Simpsons? Just download it!
Guest eiker_ir Report post Posted July 8, 2003 i've tried to download T3 a few times but i always check the file when a little bit has been downloaded alreeady and it always is some other movie.....argggh i hate when that happens
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 8, 2003 T3 is worth seeing on the big screen. There is a killer chase scene near the beginning. I downloaded a Bruce Almighty a few days ago that was a prono, and a few Finding Nemos that didn't work. But that's pretty much the only bad luck I've had with it.
