First off that was either Phil's first years or he wasn't there yet, I can't remember. But either way it's different in this case.

Malone is old. He has, I guess, decides that winning a ring is more important then getting the scoring title. So, like I said, he will know his role.

Payton, he should have already won a title and he knows it. So once again. If he makes the decision to go to LA, then he'll know his role as well.

As far as the returning Lakers go. The got knocked down a few pegs this past year. They are that good, but they still got beat. In their minds that's not going to happen again.(I HOPE!)

The Lakers could have Magic, Worthy, and West in their prime and if Shaq shows up fat and out of shape they aren't winning anything.

I don't know about all of that. MJ, Pippen and Rodman had Bill Wennington and Luc Longley and dominated the league. Fat Shaq is better than a prime Bill Wennington any day. I'll win 60 games and the title with that lineup no problem.

That was under Lt. Drebin. The Lakers won the title Jackson's first year. I'd also like to say that, Jackson has never coached 4 All-Stars. We really can't say how he'd deal with 4 All-Stars.

I was partially joking. But if Shaq isn't in shape and focused than Payton, and Malone won't make a difference.

He dealt with Three...

Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman's Ego.

Rodman was just there to rebound. Since he wasn't used as a scorer he wouldn't have been a headache for Phil Jackson when it came to his playing. Of course Rodman wasn't an easy guy to have on a team, but as far as the coaching I doubt he was much of a problem.

Coaching 4 guys who like to score and are used for scoring is alot different than coachin 1 big scorer, 1 scorer who was better as defensive and 1 rebounder who was ecentric.

Jordan probably had the ego of Shaq and Kobe combined, but unlike them he never let it affect his playing.

Without a doubt. But Jordan played his ass off (not that Kobe doesn't) but he got on his teammates and they had no choice but to listen to what he said.

Payton and Malone POSSIBLY joining the Lakers should only scare people on paper. Remember, they haven't signed or agreed to anything. Another thing is you have to see whether or not they gel together as a team. Sometimes the best team you can put on paper won't necessarily be the best team out on the floor.

But would the talent on the team overcome the personality conflicts? I know Malone won't take no shit from anybody. Including Shaq.

After spending a night to think about this rumor, I don't think the egos will clash since Kobe will tear his quad early into the season.

And if Kobe started complaining about not getting to handle the ball as much, I am sure that Payton would not be shy about letting his feelings known.

There have already been rumblings of Kobe wanting to win a title on his own, I can't help but wonder if they bring in Malone and Payton it will end up pushing Kobe out the door next season.

Karl has an ego, but don't forget he has a hella work ethic too. I think with just Kobe, Shaq & Karl he could still get plenty of shots. With GP too its hard to say, but if Karl & GP really want the title they will gel. Plus don't believe that Karl will only play two more years, he could average at least 15&6 until he is 45.

He can if he wants but it would taint his record average...

He is convinced he will be the GREATEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME...Statiscially maybe.

I'm sure the Lakers filling a team with a bunch of big name players with bigger egos who all need the ball won't cause any problems, i mean it's worked out so well for Portland these last few years, hasn't it?

Kobe is not has big a ball hog people think. He led the team in assists. The reason he had that stretch of 40 point games was, Jackson asked him to carry the scoring load so Shaq can get back into playing shape. He can be a ballhog at times, but when asked he's shown he can get more players involved.

People know this, they just refuse to acknowledge it. It's alot easy to just hate the best player in the league then to actually give him his due.

Kobes not even the best player at his position let alone in the league. Tmac, Pierce and Iverson do more with less.

As for the Dream Team in LA. Lets look at something...

Karl Malone can no longer defend anyone. EVERY PF in the west absolutly owns him when they play the Jazz now.

He is nothing but a jump shooter now. He was ONLY effective because the best point guard ever went to him as his #1 option. he would be the number 4 option in LA.

HE SUCKS IN THE 4TH QUARTER. I hate Peter Vesey but he is never shy to point out how much Malone disappears in 4th quarters. He is WORTHLESS in crunch time.

Payton is the only person that matters in this scenario. he will make the lakers better. EXCEPT...Tony Parker owns Gary Payton...Jason Kidd owns Gary Payton...Stephon Marbury owns Gary Payton...Sam Cassell owns Gary Payton...Steve Fransis owns Gary Payton...Nick VaNash owns Gary Payton. GILBERT FUCKING ARENAS owns Gary Payton. All of these point guards eat or ate Gary alive during the regular season. Parkers to fast, Kidd's to entergetic, Cassell's to strong, Francis is too everything, Nick VaNash shoot to well and Payton steps off of guys so they won't go by him...

The best teams in the West have great PG...Gary Payton doens't play well against great PG's. He never has. Kevin Johnson used to own him. John Stockon did. Nick Van Excel did when the lakers upset them. I know no one will agree but when healthy Robert Pack was a great PG and he ate Paytons lunch.

So basically you would be left with Shaq and Kobe with the equivilants to Medvedenko(who does what Malone does only better) and Derek Fisher against the best in the West. Plus the Suns, Twolves, and Sonics will be better. Unless 1980 Magic Johnson signs they won't win. PERIOD.

The Lakers winning the title depends entirely on Shaq.

True, but people seem to finally understand that Shaq and Kobe can both get theirs with the team still losing. Its all about stopping those other guys. now it would be harder with Malone and Payton out there, but I just don't think it will happen.

Don't listen to the press and media making excuses for the lakers. Shaq was putting up nearly 30 and 20 in that series against the Spurs. The Spurs just had a better team. It disgusted me to see Bill Walton talk about how the Spurs were lucky that Shaq wasn't on top of his game...a game where he had 27 pts and 21 rebounds. WHAT-D-FUCK-EVA.

So the Lakers are getting older to be competitive.......is Vince McMahon a secret adviser? Well if Karl Malone has such a great work ethic maybe the other players will follow suit and be in shape for the season.

If this happens, this is what I see...

Shaq loses his motivation once again and blimps up to 450 lbs over the summer.

Karl Malone, a man who is known for avoiding injury throughout his career, will suffer a season ending injury with a torn ACL in the first regular season game.

GP and Kobe's egos will clash all season prompting them to brawl during a game against the Clippers, where they eventually lose 140 - 75. Afterwards, Kobe leaves the Lakers for the greener pastures of Philadelphia because he wants to be closer to his dad now that their relationship is back on the upswing.

Jack Nicolson dies and all of Lakerdom will succumb to the Clipper Nation. :headbang:

Or they go 82-0

Well lets see, Shaq is out of shape, and before he was arrested, Kobe was making noise about going someplace else. You bring in Malone, who is a shadow of his former self, and Gary payton, who is a good PG, but he's not what he used to be, either.

Kobe and Shaq are the factors here. Anyone else they bring in will not factor into how far the Lakers go anywhere NEAR as much as Kobe and Shaq. If Kobe stays and focuses on making his team better and not just scoring, and if Fat Albert loses the extra weight he's luging around, look out below.

And BTW, its easy to lead the league in assists when you;re drawing doubles all the time.

Let's not be ridiculous please I can handle Malone's flaws, but comparing him even at 40 to Medvedenko is crazy.

Medvedenko- Jump shooting power forward with limited defensive skills. Not that good of a rebounder.

Malone is a better rebounder, Medvedenko is a better shooter. I mean, Malone has bigger arms and a really big truck but that doesn't count.

Have I been the ONLY one watching Jazz games the last few years...

...

probably so..huh?
