WWE RAW House Show Results From St. John, NB (7/5/03)

Thanks to Cliff Blair for the following report:

Here are the WWE House Show results from Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.

Hurricane pinned Steven Richards after hitting the Shining Wizard.

Randy Orton and Val Venis went to a time limit draw (I was wondering why the Fink was making a point to tell us the remaining time).

Tommy Dreamer beat Rosey in a Hardcore match. (Mark Jindrak ran in during this match to help Rosey but to no avail).

Gail Kim successfully defended her Woman's Title when she pinned Victoria which Ivory was "unconscious" on the outside.

My memory is a little foggy on this one but I do believe Rob Van Dam beat Test. (Kane came out immediately after this match. Test left the ring before he got there. Kane chokeslammed the Ref and was making his way over to RVD. Val Venis and the Hurricane came out to talk Kane out of it. It didn't work as Kane chokeslammed everyone and left the ring.

Christian pinned Booker T with the help of using the ropes and a handful of tights. (Christian and Booker fought into the crowd which I don't think the security was prepared for).

Maven pinned Rico (Very entertaining match, crowd was really into it. I originally thought Rico was going a bit overboard with his character, but after seeing it live I think its awesome).

In the Main Event, La Resistance beat the Dudley Boys (Bubba and Spike) when Spike got pinned. (I am surprised Rene Dupree did not get a pop considering he is from New Brunswick. I was told Spike's daughter was in crowd. Speaking of whick I missed some of this match as the crowd was chanting "Spike". I started looking around for Spike Lee who was no where in site. Rene went into a table after the match when Tommy Dreamer ran in to save Spike from going through that same table).

Crowd was about 2000-2500. They put a curtain down half the building so that it wouldn't look so empty, but that didn't work.

That very same curtain blocked of the PA system so the audio was horrible. Not to mention they had a broken mic for the first 5 minutes of the show. WWE did not set up any of their lights and used only house lights, which also was horrible.

Biggest Pops (in no particular order)

RVD, Dreamer, Dudleys, and Hurricane

Best Heat

Randy Orton, Rosey, La Resistance

All in all not a very impressive show. Fit Finley sat ringside most of the night watching. Also watching from the back was Terry Taylor and Dave Hebner. You could also see the other wrestlers watching the matches too. Maybe they are trying to monitor the crowds and better themselves.

WWE Smackdown House Show Results From Frederick, MD (7/5/03)

Thanks to Stephen W. for sending in the following report:

I just got back from the house show from Harry Grove Stadium, in Frederick MD. I have to say this show was much better than last year when the RAW Brand came here. I think the WWE is starting to try to make their house shows much better because there was a lot of unadvertised stuff. Unfortunately, the crowd was down a lot from last year....I would have to say the place wasn't even 50% full....I hope that doesn't mean they won't come back here again. Onto the results, I didn't sit there and take notes, I had ring side seats at the aisle way so I'll remember the best I can:

Sable arrives first...(And I disagree with ANYONE who says she aint' got it no more) and says were gonna have a Bikini Contest...Out comes, Nidia and followed by Dawn Marie who looks hot in person.

Sable vs Dawn Marie vs Nidia in a bikini contest :

All of the sudden, John cena's music plays and he arrives saying he will be the judge of the contest...His cell phone rings and he tells the person to chill cuz he got business to take care of....Nidia disrobes first and Cena makes fun of her doing the macarena...Dawn Marie goes next and John Cena then gets a hard-on...HILARIOUS STUFF as he tries to calm it down...And third, Sable goes...and John Cena asks if they can hook up later....By voter response, Sable wins contest...

Nidia is still out there upset...Jamie Noble comes down and says were just a bunch of rednecks and they are better than us now that they have money...Jamie tells Nidia they are gonna leave but Ultimo Dragon's music plays which leads to

Ultimo Dragon vs Jamie Noble

DRAGON WAS WAY OVER....He looks impressive...can't wait for Dragon/Mysterio. Nice solid match won by Ultimo Drago with the flip over from a side suplex into the Implant DDT.

Funaki & Spanky vs. Basham Brothers w/ Shaniqua

This gimmick is just freaky as Shaniqua whips the Bashams several times. Spanky got a nice pop. Nice tag match. Shaniqua pulls Spanky off the apron and the Bashams do a double team reverse sit-out powerbomb on Funaki falling on his face for the 3 count.

Matt Hardy vs. Shannon Moore

Matt Hardy arrives and tells Shannon he has one more chance to prove himself as an MFer...He says Crash was already sent packing because he couldn't handle it...If Shannon fails he'll be next. Matt wins the match with the twist of fate. Interestingly, after the match Matt shakes Shannon's hand and they both do the Version 1 symbol together.

Albert vs. Orlando Jordan

Orlando is still a little green but it was an okay match. Orlando got some nice offense including several cross body blocks...and Albert lifts Orlando up for the Derailer but Orlando dropkicks out of it. Albert wins via the Train Wreck

**15 Minute Intermission**

John Cena vs. Billy Gunn

John Cena is AWESOME, total mark for him. He rips on Frederick and (Rightfully so). I have no doubt he'll be main-eventing Wrestlemania 20. Cena goes for FU on Gunn but Gunn goes over and pushes Cena into the turnbuckle and gives him the Fame-Asser for the win. I don't understand if they want to put John Cena OVER the next level, why keep jobbing him to Billy Gunn. No Torrie Wilson and Gunn is less interesting

The APA vs. Chuck Palumbo & Johnny Stamboli

APA says they've made a lot of friends while drinking beers at bars across the country and they would like to introduce their new friend, Zach Gowen. A surprise for us fans, I have a total respect for Gowen. Gowen was WAY OVER. He did the Hogan hand wave at the beginning of the match. At the end, Nunzio was trying to interfere...and Gowen grabbed the leg of Palumbo. Palumbo pulled Gowen up by the hair and Gowen hit Palumbo with the cane and Simmons rolls him up for the 3. After the match, The APA and Gowen MOCK the Hogan Hand-Wave...and Zach Gowen MOCKS the ripping of the t-shirt...he tries but fails twice and just rips the shirt off flexing..LOL. Funny Stuff. They leave and Gowen kisses two girls on the way back...and poses like Hogan. Gowen is truly living his American Dream...and I have a total respect for him.

Special Appearance by Eddie Guerrero

There's no better Eddie than a heel Eddie Guerrero. Eddie was ripping on the fans and I just thought he was there to trash-talk...But he was challenging of us "FredNecks" to get in there and take him. (Unadvertised) Tajiri runs to the ring attacking Guerrero, the referree's are standing in the back watching with William Regal, and Dean Malenko...so this isn't a match...Just a fight. Tajiri puts the Tarantula on Eddie and waits for the kick until (Unadvertised) Sean O'Haire runs to the ring (Man is he built...to stand right next to him) and Sean O'Haire gets mist in the eyes and Guerrero nails Tajiri in the head with the chair. O'Haire and Guerrero assault Tajiri.

Benoit & Rhyno vs. Haas & Benjamin for WWE Tag Team Titles

Nice Solid Technical Wrestling. Great match. End came when Rhyno went for gore but Haas nailed him in the head with the belt for the 3 count.

Great Show...Hope they come back next year

Biggest Pops:

1. Zach Gowen

2. Bikini Contest

3. John Cena (Word-Life...During Bikinki Contest and Before He Rips On Frederick)

Biggest Heat:

1. Haas & Benjamin

2. John Cena (After ripping on Frederick and during the entire match)

3. Eddie Guerrero

Randy Orton and Val Venis went to a time limit draw

Tommy Dreamer beat Rosey in a Hardcore match. (Mark Jindrak ran in during this match to help Rosey but to no avail).

These don't make sense.

Why would Orton and Morley go to a Draw when Orton is getting a mega push, and why is Jindrak running in to help Rosey in a hardcore match against Tommy Dreamer?

Since when did WWE ever let somebody go over in their home town/country?

...wasn't there a HUGE blow-up on the board when this happened?

I remember a thread where we found out that Angle lost to a jobber in his (the jobber)'s hometown, and Anglesault had an aneurysm over it.

Ahh, the days of heel AS....

GOD.....that RAW shows sounds fucking awful. Just......wow.

Maven pinned Rico (Very entertaining match, crowd was really into it. I originally thought Rico was going a bit overboard with his character, but after seeing it live I think its awesome).

Here's hoping that good house crowd responses prevents them from totally killing the Rico gimmick before it has a chance to get over.

well, that jobber wanted to go over Saturn on Heat a few years back, and we all know how THAT turned out...

So the Raw House show had no main eventers? I mean RVD was the only upper-carder than actually wrestled. Kane made an appearence, but didn't wrestle. HHH wasn't there, neither was Jericho. Hmm...

Wait, Tommy Dreamer wins at house shows and loses in Raw TV shows. That's a ripoff!

Actually, it was a dark match, at Raw, with Mike Bell vs. Saturn....AT NASSAU! Which I was there, live. Boy, did Saturn fuck that kid up. Wasn't Mike Bell on Heat the other week though?

Mike Bell was on Heat tonight, as a matter of fact.

A time limit draw? At a WWE show?

Bring back time limit announcements to WWE! (Why not? It can't hurt the product any)

Whoo. I hope that they drastically change the card for RAW house shows before July 19... 'cause if that's the thow I end up going to, I think that I'll weep. Well, maybe not, since MARK JINDRAK~! has returned, but still. That show sounds fairly lame.

The card for our SD house show (back in September) was far better, damn it.

I keep saying it, WWE needs to come back to Salt Lake City. We had the arena pretty packed last show. I'm pretty sure that the arena will fill up for the house show on the 19th of July that I wanted to attend due to the fact that it would be one of my last chances to see HBK once agayne in person. Due to me being a broke loser w/o a job...I don't have a ticket....oh well.

DFA

EDIT: I know TRITEC...that show fuckin rocked....especially due to my seats.....ha ha ha! ROW 2 SEAT 1 baby...right by where they enter/ where the ring is! BROCK FLIPPED ME OFF! ha ha

Did no-one notice Eddie seems to be being lumbered with O'Haire? Either that or we're looking at continuation of a storyline...so Eddie is being lumbered with O'Haire?

Smackdown show sounds promising though, what with Gowen and Dragon being over.

La Resistance main eventing? With Bubba and Spike. Even if Dupree was in his hometown, most wouldn't know seeing as he's 'French' in character. Oh...my eyes hurt from that main event, and I only read about it.

heres some more

WWE RAW House Show Results From Charlottetown, PEI (7/6/03)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks to Brian Langille & Susan Reid for the following report:

The Civic Center holds approx 5000 seats and as of Friday, only 1500 were sold. There were a lot of last minute seats sold this afternoon, taking it to what I would say would be 2100 max. The walk way to the ring was about 20 feet as they came out from the hockey dressing rooms. The heels from the visitor's room, the faces from the home locker room.

Here is a run down of the matches and results:

Match one: Hurricane vs. Stevie Richards. ***

Hurricane got a huge pop as he was the first guy out. Stevie got a lot of heat, including one guy yelling at him from the cheap seats that gay pride week was next week, and "you can't wear pink, you're in Charlottetown now boy..." To which Stevie gave him the finger. End came with Hurricane picking up the win with the Shining Wizard.

Match two:

Randy Orton vs. Val Venis. 1/2*

Orton came out and grabbed the mic, all he got to say was "Charlottetown..." before Val's music hit. Val took the mic and all he got to say was "Hello ladies..." before Orton hit him from behind. Match went back and forth, but Fink kept reminding us of how much time had gone by, counting down every 30 seconds for the last 2.5 minutes. Val hit a spin buster with 3 seconds left but the time ran out as the ref hit 2. The match went to a 10 minute draw. (A draw on a house show?) Val asked the crowd and the ref for 5 more minutes, didn't get it but was hit with an RKO for his efforts. Val then threw his towel to a lucky fan in the audience.

Match three:

Tommy Dreamer vs. Rosey **

Rosey came out to minor heat, Dreamer came out to a huge pop. Rosey took the mic and said he was sick of hearing about ECW this and ECW that... And challenged Dreamer to a no DQ match. Before Tommy could accept, he was hit with the mic and the match was on.... Not too much to tell here other than the appearance of Mark Jindrak, unfortunately nobody knew who he was since he hasn't appeared on TV yet, so a lot of people were asking who he was, and he got no real reaction. End came with Rosey swinging and missing with a chair that bounced back and hit him in the face. He dropped the chair, Tommy DDT'd him on the chair for the 1-2-3 and the win.

Match four:

Gail Kim vs. Ivory vs. Victoria for the WWE women's title. ***

Kim is really small in person. Stevie came out with Victoria and the heckler from match one reminded Stevie that he still didn't like him, tossing more insults his way. Ivory bumped like crazy and was out of the match more than she was in it. Stevie was ejected after hitting Ivory for a 3rd time. (To the heckler's delight) End came with Ivory being dropped off the apron and Gail Kim hitting a huracanrana that ended with her sitting on Victoria's chest for the 3 count. The move just looked messy and the ref gave the cross symbol almost immediately after the 3 count. Fink went to the back and came back with Terry Taylor, Fit Finley and trainers to check on Victoria. Stevie came back out as well. After checking on her for 3-5 minutes, and trying to get up twice, Victoria, with help from Stevie made her way to the back as the crowd gave her an ovation.

Match five:

RVD vs. Test. ****

Test came out first and began taunting the crowd. RVD's music hit and the roof was blown off the Civic Center. RVD is easily the most over guy of the night. Funny moment when Test begins arguing with a 5 year old in the front row, and Charles Robinson gets between the 2, Test acting like his is trying to get at him, and the 5 year old taunting him on to bring it. Good match between the two with RVD winning with a 5 star frog splash. Then Kane's music hits and he comes out to the ring (Interestingly enough, from the heel's locker room.) Test bailed and that left RVD by himself. Val and Hurricane came out to try to talk Kane out of it, but got chokeslammed for their efforts. RVD and Charles Robinson also were chokeslammed before Kane left the ring. All 4 sold getting chokeslammed and one by one they got up and posed for the crowd.

Fink then informed us it was the intermission, and when they returned, there would be an IC title defense by Canada's own Christian.

Match six:

Booker T vs. Christian for the IC title. ****

Booker comes out to a pretty good pop, Christian comes out to mostly boos which surprised me, being in Canada and all. Lot of "Christian's Peeps" signs in the crowd. Booker controlled most of the match with Christian selling, trying to be counted out and asking for time outs. End comes when Booker goes for a sunset flip, the ref counted what looked like 3, then Christian grabbed the tights rolled him up and grabbed a rope for leverage..1-2-3. Christian grabbed the belt and took off. Booker sat in the ring holding up 3 fingers, then got up, posed on the ropes, circled the ring side area high fiving everyone and then left.

Match seven:

Rico w/ Miss Jackie vs. Maven. **

Almost the exact same match they had on Raw last week other than the ending. Rico came out playing his new character to the extreme. Had what looked like 3 rollers in the front of his hair, one red, white and blue. Did all the same bits he did on Raw, including grabbing Maven's BUTT, slapping his BUTT, kissing him, putting his crotch in his face, skipping with the ref, and slapping the ref's BUTT. Rico is more flamboyant than Billy and Chuck ever dreamed of being. End comes with Maven hitting a bulldog from the top rope.

Match eight:

La Resistance vs. the Dudley Boys for the World Tag Team title. *****

5 stars alone for Bubba Ray and how he carried the match. It was Bubba Ray and Spike vs. La Resistance, no explanation as to where D-Von was. Bubba carried the match and kept the crowd into it. At one point he had Dupree in a camel clutch, where Dupree yelled "Ouch, that hurts!" To which Bubba replied, "You're damn right it hurts, you french f***ot!" Couple of near falls including the dudley dog from Spike that were broken up at the last second. Crowd begged for tables but didn't get them tonight. End came with Bubba being hit with a tag belt and Spike taking La Resistance's finisher for the 1-2-3. After the match, the champs took the mic and yelled at Bubba and Spike, asking in french if they were OK and if they liked that? Tommy Dreamer hit the ring with Garbage cans and a hockey stick and the faces cleared the ring to a huge ECW chant. Bubba brought a young fan into the ring and gave him the hockey stick, then took the mic and thanked us all for coming. Bubba was a class act.

All in all, it was a good show. I was in Halifax Nova Scotia in May for the Raw and Smackdown tapings, so this was my 3rd show in 2 months, which is cool since they don¹t make it to this part of Canada very often. The show lacked star power such as Jericho, Stacy, D-Von, Trish, Steiner, Rodney Mack (I would have loved to hear Teddy Long on the mic) etc... But made up for it with RVD and Christian.

No return date was announced, and with the poor advanced ticket sales, I'd have to think that if I want to see them again any time soon, I'll have to go to Halifax or Moncton.

Biggest Pop:

RVD

Booker

Dudleys

Maven

Best Heat:

Stevie Richards

Randy Orton

Rico

La Resistance

Please tell me that guy didn't give a Test match 4 stars.

And FIVE STARS for a Dudleys / Resistance match?!?!?! BUBBA RAY carrying a match?!?!?!

Christ, they deserve a smack upside the head.

I've been curious as to what happened at the Smackdown House Show in Ocean City yesterday. I was tempted to go when I first first heard about it but decided against it after some thought.

I was at a Raw house show about a month ago. It was the Dudleys Vs Mack/Nowinski, and i'd be hardpressed to argue that Bubba carried the match. He sold really well, showed a ton of fire in his comebacks, and really got the fans behind him. Say what you will about Bubba, but the man works hard.
