Guest JMA Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Ah, Married... With Children. One of the greatest shows EVER. It has given us many memorable characters. During the show's history Marcy (The Bundy's next door neighbor) has had two husbands: Steve and Jefferson. Steve as always clean cut and the antithesis of Al, while Jefferson was more of a "partner in crime." Which character did you prefer?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Ouch, don't make me choose. They were both great for the roles they had. But since I have to pick I'll take Jefferson 50.1% to Steve's 49.9%
Guest starvenger Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Geez, why you gotta make me choose? Two great characters, but for different reasons. Steve was Doug Christie before Doug Christie's wife made him who he is, and Jefferson's is a great two-faced sleazeball. So when in doubt, go with the No Ma'am member. Jefferson ever so slightly.
Guest El Gigante Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 I have to go with Jefferson on this one.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Steve, if for anything, just for that episode where he thought he was going bald and he and Al tried the various "treatments".
Guest MrRant Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 It is a toss-up because they each had memorable episodes. I would go Jefferson by a 1/10 of a percent.
Guest eiker_ir Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 i go with Jefferson, i tought he and Al were funnier together
Guest NoCalMike Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 I went with Steve, only for the fact that it took Jefferson a season or two to get to his full capabilities.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 They were both great. I'm glad they did a complete 180 turn for Marcy's new husband, and that it worked, and that they got Steve into random episodes. They had a MWC marathon on FX Saturday, I caught a lot of it.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 Married with Children is about the only show Ted McGinley didn't immediately tank and it actually represents some of his best work. He nailed that character perfectly.
Guest Ghettoman Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 Jefferson, he was better as Al's friend as you could see them hanging out together better than Steve, and although Steve seemed better off with Marcy when it came time for the turn on Al Jefferson was better. Steve was too clean cut for me.

He nailed that character perfectly. In fairness to Ted he does come on a lot of shows when they're just about done with anyway. He doesn't have much/anything to do with that...just bad timing really
Guest Vern Gagne Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 Steve. The show was better when he was on. Jefferson is hurt by the show running out of gas.
The Dames Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 Isn't it amazing that the show didn't jump the shark back when they changed a major cast member...who ended up being as popular if not more so than the character he was replacing? Jefferson. As a matter of fact... Mr. Furley > Mr. Roeper. Dames
{''({o..o})''} Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 To paraphrase slightly "What's 2+2? Jefferson sucka!"
Guest jimmy no nose Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 I'm going to go with Jefferson because I first got into that show during Jefferson's first season and knew little of Steve. Now that the show's over I've seen many reruns with Steve and it took a while to get used to him but I ended up liking him eventually, but for me he couldn't compete with Jefferson. Maybe it would be different if I was older and watched the show from the beginning.
Guest teke184 Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Steve. Steve was a better individual character while Jefferson was more of a foil for Al and Marcy.
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Jefferson ever so slightly. I didn't really care for Steve during the first couple of seasons, but the later episodes when he made sporatic appearances were golden.
Guest jimmy no nose Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Oh yeah those episodes where Steve would return every once in a while were awesome. I'll still take Jefferson overall though.
Guest Nightscrawler Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Close call, but I got to go with Jefferson on this one.
Guest DerangedHermit Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Ouch...that's a tough choice...I'd say Jefferson, although Steve was great too.
Guest MrRant Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Oh yeah those episodes where Steve would return every once in a while were awesome. I'll still take Jefferson overall though. Except Radio Free Trumain.... didn't care much for that one. Of course it was a failed attempt at a spinoff.

Guest nl5xsk1 Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Voted Jefferson ... I'm stunned by the number of Steve votes, and how close people are saying their choice was. Steve was good; Jefferson was very good. No contest in my eyes.
