ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2003 OK...it's official: WWE's Tag Team Ranks are not that great. We only have a few teams to work between the two shows...two sets of tag titles per two shows...and not enough teams to keep things interesting. So...more teams would be needed. Who should team...and how? Here's some of my suggestions...first, the Raw side of things. (Teams already established: Dudley Boyz, Le Resistance) GOLDUST AND RICO: Think about it...if you bring back the old style of Goldust, and put him together with Rico, you have a team that would be interesting, if anything. Besides, they could probably do the gay team gimmick MUCH better than Billy and Chuck ever did. LANCE STORM AND CHRISTIAN: Let's face facts...Storm is a tag wrestler For LIFE! That's where he's best at. And we KNOW that Storm will NOT be getting a serious push anywhere in the near future...so why not bring back the Un-Americans...but not under that name. Maybe Christian can try to make Storm Not-Boring... MAVEN AND THE HURRICANE: OK...Maven should be in a tag team right now, so maybe the skills of a partner can rub off on him. Hurricane has been looking for a tag team partner sorta in storylines. Maven and Hurricane...maybe Hurricane trying to make Maven his sidekick...it could be for interesting television. That's all I can think of on the Raw Side...now onto the Smackdown side...two ideas I had. (Established teams: Benjamin & Haas, Los Guerreros (when Chavo gets better), Bashams, FBI, Hardy & Moore (sometimes).) SPANKY AND ZACK GOWEN: For some odd reason...I'd like to see these two together as a team. Storyline wise, they both had to fight to get contracts in the WWE...making them relate in that way. From what I've heard, they're both high up in the workrate department...they're both lightweights that can work well with each others' styles: The only problem I can see is Spanky would have to adjust his entrance for Zack. TAJIRI AND FUNAKI: I LOVED it when these two would team up together. I dunno why, but they reminded me of the Oriental Express back in the day. If ONLY we could get Mr. Fuji back into the managerial role, these two would make a great heel tag team. All right...opinions and ideas?
Adam 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2003 I tend to think that Hurricane and Nova would OWN. Think about it, Nova could do the superhero thing too!
Guest justsoyouknow Report post Posted July 8, 2003 Nah, they should bring Nova in as a SUPERVILLIAN! But, seriously, as far as tagteams go, they need to trade Lance Storm to Smackdown, where his technical wrestling might get over a little bit better, then he could team up with Benoit. Yeah, Benoit, he's not getting a singles push, so he might as well have a tag team partner who is fairly decent. On the RAW side, send Sean O'Haire in exchange for Storm and reunite Jindrack and O'Haire. That's the only way that anyone will care about either of them. Guest Korgath Report post Posted July 8, 2003 First, good ideas, you've got. I like them quite a fair bit. Here are my comments: On RAW, you have one established face team, and one upcoming heel team. Goldust and Rico would make a lovely team, no doubt, but I think the GAY card has been rather overplayed. If they'd just be themselves-flamboyant wrestlers-it would work. But as a heel team, I don't see them facing off with the Dudleys. I see them competing with: Val Venis and Scott Steiner who represent "freaky masculinity". I think they would make an excellent team with Stacy Keibler in their corner. Steiner would be there for the "pop" factor, and Venis would do all the ringwork. As well-built models of the male body, they would also get a pretty decent push. But if not, you could always bring back: The APA who really should have never debuted on Smackdown! With all the hoss-material on RAW, why why why? I say they trade the APA to RAW. And when that happens: Lance Storm and Christian could bring them over as legitimate contenders for the title. But if the APA doesn't get traded, then the only hope lies in: Seven and Travis Bane whom the WWE is planning to call up. Ho hum. I don't see Maven and the Hurricane as a tag team. Sorry. On SMACKDOWN, you have heel team after heel team after heel team. So they brought in the APA. Urgh. They should have pushed: Spanky and Rikishi instead of jobbing them to the Bashams in the latter's debut match. Boo. Hiss. Spanky and Rikishi are over enough and comedic enough to get a decent pop, instead of being a seperate pair of JTTS. Zach Gowan is not a tag player. I don't know what's going to happen to him after this Vince angle. Tajiri and Funaki is a stroke of brilliance that unfortunately only saw light once. Only in this case, they should be faces. After all, that's what they are now, and that's what the Tag division needs. Why sacrifice their face heat with the crowd? Teams I'd like to see, but probably never will. Bill DeMott and Chavo Guerrero were the Misfits in Action back in WCW. It was a fun gimmick that might just get over now that Uncle Eddie is a heel again. I doubt Los Guerreros will be back for another run anytime soon. Unfortunately, Chavito seems to be out for a pretty long while. Our prayers are with you, esse. Sean O'Haire and Chris Kanyon is a team I would mark out for, but that's just me. Chris Jericho and Lance Storm: Pure Canadian genius. I even think Jericho could get Storm over. Well, those are my opinions and ideas, as requested.
Guest The ChriZa Report post Posted July 8, 2003 I have an idea, Chris. How about you let me know where I can find that Molly Holly pic on the right, and others like it? Good God...
Adam 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2003 The only way I will except Jericho-Storm is if its a stable with someone else, where Jericho is the World Champ. And NOT The Un-Americans again.
Guest The ChriZa Report post Posted July 8, 2003 Good call. The Un-Americans destroyed what little hope Storm had of gaining any sort of mark fan base, and that pretty much means he's dead in Vince's eyes.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted July 8, 2003 I think Moore should re-team with Hurricane. If not, they're just going to cut him anyway. May as well get some good use out of him. I agree Jericho and Storm would be great again.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted July 8, 2003 GOLDUST AND RICO: Here we go again, another gay tag team....ummmm didn't we do this already??? Yep, bad idea. LANCE STORM AND CHRISTIAN: see above (minus the gay stuff) MAVEN AND THE HURRICANE: Now, this one I give some credibility to. This could possibly help BOTH guys in the team and add to their usefulness on RAW. Although I think that if they brought up NOVA to team with the Hurricane that it would totally rock!!!! SPANKY AND ZACK GOWEN: I like this one too. But honestly this will NEVER and I mean NEVER happen. TAJIRI AND FUNAKI: This one is good for the comedy act of it all but really Tajiri should be by himself. He could be a kick ass star on his own which I hope we will see with his possible feud with eddy guerrero.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2003 I have an idea, Chris. How about you let me know where I can find that Molly Holly pic on the right, and others like it? Good God... It was one of Molly's bio page pictures on WWE.com. They have a new one with her. ...hmm...now this has me thinking of an all-women show for WWE... ...naaaaaah. tekcop 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2003 A-Train should be in the tag division. Maybe with an energetic, cruiser face like Spanky or Scotty 2 Hotty (if he comes back). I could see it working.
SpikeFayeJettEdBebop 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2003 A-TRAIN SHOULD BE FIRED.LOL I am just kidding around...kind of. Anyway, IMO, Storm could be paired with just about anyone, and second, HES NOT BORING. Why are you guys eating the shit WWE feeds you?Seriously, Storm is not boring at all, he is actually one of the only things on Raw that doesnt make me fall asleep when with anyone else because it can make just about ANYTHING entertaining. I really liked the Nova,Hurricane Idea also. But I think they should make Lesnar and Angle a tag team and have them feud with either Jericho and Benoit or Benoit and Lance Storm. Its NEVER going to happen but hey, it would be great and exciting to watch.Oh yeah, and Tajiri and Funaki=MAD FUNNY!!!!!!!!! Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 9, 2003 Perhaps WWE should have some of these "teams" watch old footage of the Hart Foundation, Rockers, Rock N Roll Express, Midnight Express, British Bulldogs, Kawada and Taue to see how good tag team wrestling should go. None of today's teams have a remote clue on how to work a tag match very good. Hell, they could even sneak a peek at some of the SD 6 guys work from this last fall season. Seriously though, WWE needs to develop some teams. Not take 2 unover guys and lump them together. They need actual teams. Then they need to get it in their heads that the team is good and should be better than 2 people higher up on the totem pole. Example would be that the Rock N Roll Express (not the current fat guys) a tag team should fare better than 2 main event guys lumped together to face them because the RnR's are a team and the other 2 guys are singles wrestlers who are out of their element. Therefore, the illusion is that the RnR's stand a chance against them. That is not the current mindset of WWE right now and it's killing tag team work. Tag matches can still be great matches, you just have to get past the regular formula and do something special with it.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 9, 2003 At least The Best Damn Tag Team Period follows the mold of the Midnight Express, Hart Foundation, ETC.
Guest Hass of Pain Report post Posted July 9, 2003 Three Count: I love the idea of reuniting Shannon Moore and Shane Helms. For a short while, I thought that they were actually a better team than the Hardy Boyz and the two have the kind of chemistry that makeshift tag teams of the modern day would kill for. Plus, it's not like WWE is really doing anything better with either of them anyway. Spanky & Nathan Jones: The "odd couple" gimmick always works and Nathan Jones could badly use someone like Spanky to carry the brunt of the workload for him. Neither of them are doing anything of worth currently and it could exponentially in getting them both over. Rey Mysterio & Ultimo Dragon: Why not pit two of the greatest cruisers of all time together to add depth to the tag division and intrigue to the storyline where they eventually clash for the title. The duos matches with Team Angle would be classic. A-Train & Bill Demott: Useless fat people, UNITED! Chris Harvard & Maven: If La Resistance continue to dominate through the summer, I think it would be awesome to see Chris Harvard and Maven rally backstage, put their differences aside and set off on a quest for tag team gold. I could see the crowd behind them and a face and a heel tagging could add a nice dynamic in that Maven could try to stop Chris from cheating to win and what not. Shawn Michaels & Kevin Nash: There is literally nothing left to do with Kevin Nash and the singles department and Shawn Michaels is running out of opponents. Why not pit the two together in attempt to take the tag titles off La Resistance at SummerSlam.
