Another week goes by, and Kurt Angle STILL doesn't look like he should be contending for a major title. Just how many times ARE they gonna beat him down before he finally gets the upperhand over anyone?

 

I will say, that as a stand alone segment, if you can forget that this is the number one contender out there, The Angle/Cena segment was done VERY well. Both were funny, and even Angle's rap was funny without being too detrimental. Plus, they were able to turn it serious by the end and make Kurt look like a bad ass.

 

Yeah, they ruined it 20 seconds later by having him get beat down for the 12th time since his return, but up until then, it was a great segment.

 

Of course, they had to mess that up by making the Angle/Lesnar segments increasingly gayer. That first one where Angle was on all fours SCREAMED "lover's quarrel." This really is becoming a ménage-a-trois. What the fuck are they trying to accomplish?

 

So, good Cena segment, lousy everything else. Call it even. I guess it is getting better.

I did not like the opening segment _at all_ and it's Kurt's fault. Seriously, coming down to "you suck", then saying someone else is "whiter than you" then "giving it his best" at rapping... the guy is such a fucking goofball and then his 'intensity' at the end lasted all of 5 seconds - he should have TOTALLY punked Cena out so the impression could be hammered home "don't fuck with it". And his motions during the Rap were god awful.

Speaking of looking like wusses, D.K. looked just as bad as I figured, those skits didn't help him either. In their defense however, the Cena promo at least proves that management knows this friendship is starting to look at little fruity.

Management authorizes everything. At the very least they tell Cena who his opponent is and let him improv. However they also will tell him sometimes what specifically to rap about. Hence the WM rap about all the celebrities who didn't show.

That was a more "laugh with him" moment than usual. Kurt was in on it a least.

 

And the material was genuinely funny, plus they redeemed Kurt a little at the end.

Me and AS normally disagree on how Angle's being used, but even I have to say that the skit where he was getting iced down seemed to have wicked gay undertones. A lot of it seemed to be because of Lesnar's delivery and voice, and not just what they were saying, but it just seemed weird. They didn't come across as two guys just taking the piss out of each other.

 

And I agree that the opening promo was perfect. You could tell both guys were having fun, the fans were digging it, it ended with both Angle AND Cena as guys that could fuck shit up when it was time to get serious. Yeah, it sucked that Angle got beat down AGAIN but it needed to be done as an excuse to keep him out of the main event. And most likely set up Angle/Lesnar vs. Cena/Show for next week's Smackdown. (so the house shows where they ran this match was to get their timing down for the TV taping)

Benoit reaches his dream...Angle goes over Cena again but Cena is *MADE*.
