Winner: The Flair/Steamboat match below is their best encounter, so I think I'm going with Benoit/Sasuke.

17)bret-austin wm13

32)flair-steamboat wrestlewar89

Winner: God DAMN this is tough. This should've been in the finals. I'm going to go with Bret/Austin because it had more historical impact and significance. Both are amazing matches, but Bret/Austin (with the "I Quit" stipulation) is just a shade better.

Wooooo! I'm looking for an '89 final. WW seems to be the more popular between most fans, but I know there's a lot of Clash fans here.

Just so we don't get Flair and Steamboat versus themselves in the final. Both here are landmark matches.

Clash VI is my favorite match ever and I'll be pissed if WrestleWar beats it, but either way's cool.

Flair vs. Steamboat- Clash VI

Bret vs. Austin (just so to have two different match styles in the final).

flair/steamboat, 2/3 falls

bret/austin, WM 13

i think the two flair/steamboat matches are interchangeably great, and i don't really care which one wins, so i might as well give bret & austin a fighting chance.

Duh...

The reasons some pople are giving for not voting for the Wrestlewar match are pretty silly. These two ARE the two greatest matches of all time...they SHOULD go against each other in the final.

Uh no, Flair/Steamboat wasn't the best singles match of 89, it isn't the best NWA World Title match of all time, it isn't even the best match to happen on U.S. soil, and it certaintly is not the greatest match of all time(not even top 50 on my list).

Sorry for the interruption, carry on with the voting.

While I'm here, I guess I'll vote:

Benoit/Sasuke JCup 94 vs. Flair/Steamboat 2/3 Falls.

winner: Benoit/Sasuke.

-Benoit and Sasuke managed to tell a rather complex story that not only did a great job of touching upon the stories of their previous matches in the JCUP but paid homage to DK/Cobra and DK/Tiger Mask. It's more than story telling to, as Benoit constructs an excellent match with loads of credible near falls and nice timing.

Flair/Steamboat 2/3 falls is an excellent match. The first fall does a masterful job of building off the Chi-Town match, and the second fall was even better, picking up in intensity and drama. While the third fall is inferior thanks in large part to probably fatigue, repetiveness, and by the numbers stuff, it's still decent. However, this match can't touch the depth or complexity of Benoit/Saskue.

Hart/Austin Wrestlemania 13 vs. Flair/Steamboat Wrestlewar 89

winner: Hart/Austin Wrestlemania 13

I haven't watched Hart/Austin in a very long time, but I do remember it being incredibly dramatic, very emotional, and featuring awesome storytelling. Still, I feel the Survior Series match is their superiror definitive match that is actually a bit more deeper than the Wrestlemania match if I recall.

Flair/Steamboat Wrestlewar 89 is probably their best, and I have a hard time picking Hart/Austin's second best match over it. Still, Hart/Austin tells the deeper and considerably more dramatic in ring story, and truth be told is a little more advanced(and I'm not talking about moves, I'm talking about match construction and story telling) than Flair/Steamboat.

I totally don't get all the love for WrestleWar. After their awesome Clash match, it was like they forgot how to do everything but chops and armdrags.

The 2/3 falls match is probably the best 2/3 falls match on US soil...bar none. And I agree with Coffin Surfer's sentiments, there are better NWA title matches when Jumbo was wrestling for the belt. Anyways, on with my sentiments

2/3 Falls match BARELY goes over Benoit/Sasuke

And Austin/Bret goes over WrestleWar 89. I think the Wrestlewar 89 is overrated, to tell you all the truth. I love the match, but it's not really better than Clash VI, in my opinion.

And also...a best match ever tournament that has Misawa/Kawada 6-3-94 go only as far as the Sweet 16 and LOSE...really hurts my feeling. No reason why that match shouldn't be here, and in my opinion...no reason why it shouldn't win the whole goddamn thing.

Except that most of us have never seen it.

hell naw. by that point, steamboat had flown over the top rope to the outside at least twice.

how is it that everybody's seen benoit/sasuke and so many haven't seen misawa/kawada? i saw 6-3-94 WELL before i saw the j-cup match.
