Guest Polish_Rifle Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 i don't think she's that bad. Its only been 3 mathes. Trish sucked for years before her skills were refined into what we see today.
Guest Showstoppa Icon Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 I think the smarks (including myself) got their hopes up of someing unbelievable. But you have to remember that womens wrestling is womens wrestling. And i think people should give her some time.
Guest Ripper Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 OR she wrestles for the WWE. If you only have seen them in the WWE, Shane Helms(I'm sorry, HURRICANE!!) RVD and Jamie Noble have very limited movesets. We KNOW that they can do more. Molly Holly is one hell of a high flyers, so was Crash Holly before the WWE "streamlined" their offense. If someone doesn't look good in the WWE, I never say they suck anymore. I just automatically assume that the WWE did it.
Guest Slingshot Suplex Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 The problem with Gail Kim is that we get these videos hyping her up before she comes in ,which would indicate that she's something special. I haven't seen anything special yet.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 The WWE lets their women do _way_ more moves than the men. So the 'limited moveset' doesn't really apply. I don't particularly like the 'give ____ time' simply because the WWE is the pinnacle, wrestlers shouldn't be out there still picking up the basics. That spits in the face of everyone who has spent years on top of years of hardwork perfecting their craft trying to get to the top. The WWE thought that Kims revolutionary lucha moves would thrill the crowd ala Lita in 2000.... well, the crowd ain't biting.
Guest Shanghai Kid Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 I wouldn't say she sucks, she seems to act a lot like Trish though. From the way she dresses to the way she wrestles to the way she celebrates just makes her a carbon copy of Trish in my eyes. I don't get people saying Ivory is good either.
Guest JMA Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 I've been very impressed with Gail. She has a much larger moveset than most of the other female wrestlers. She's easily the best high-flyer in the division.
Guest Choken One Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 She does a 'Rana and A high Drop kick... Lita can do that...Not good...but still executes it...barely.
Guest humongous2002 Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 I've been very impressed with Gail. She has a much larger moveset than most of the other female wrestlers. She's easily the best high-flyer in the division. Damn, you must also get impressed by the stench of your turds.
syxx2001 Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 Molly is the best womens wrestler in the US. Her and Alexis Laree. I think. And everyone saying "4 minutes? You cant judge off of that" must have forgotten that they shat, pissed, sneezed, spit, coughed, farted, cried, and wiped boogers on Jackie Gayda's first match.
Guest bob_barron Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 Alexis Laree sucks. Sure she is very nice to look at but once she gets in the ring- yuck. And that was Jackie Gayda's second match.
Guest Ripper Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 Since when do the women get to have more moves than the men? What matches have you been seeing. I just think that it is unfair to say ANYONE in the WWE sucks as they can only do so much with the limitations. When you look at the guys that DO have good matches, they are the one that are allowed to bust out more of a moveset. When Paul London has his first match and is allowed 2 moves, how many people will be here saying "That dude sucks, he can only do two moves." I'm sorry but that is just a stupid line of thinking. Like those that say the rock can only perform 5 moves. Dude, Big show can do a fucking moonsault, just because he doesn't do it (or can't find ANYONE that would take that move) doesn't mean he doesn't have the ability. The same precident goes here. I really don't care what their moveset in the WWE is anymore, because they can obviously do more. Gail has displayed less offense than we KNOW the TE kids are taught. Do you REALLY believe that after training as long as she has (what has it been, 2 years) all she KNOWS how to do is a dropkick and rana? It doesn't make sense...It just doesn't fitlook at the monkey!people it doesn't make sense.
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 actually has anyone seen her work elsewhere to compare and contrast with what shes doing now?
Guest Adrian 3:16 Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 I don't doubt that WWE is holding her back a little, and her whole debut was done very badly. But she still doesn't seem anything special to me. When Lita first appeared with Essa Rios she was given even less time than Kim and she still was able to impress more. Let's be real here, I think the majority of the smark-hype came from horny fanboys who somehow thought their attraction to her would translate into her being a female Rey Mysterio or something. The rest of us, having never seen her for ourselves, took their word for it. (and she's not even all that looks wise either, Trish and of course Victoria are both much hotter, Molly too lately)
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 The womens matches features a wider variety of moves than the mens. Just watch them.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 Gail Kim isn't ready and neither were any of the OVW guys that have been brought up the last year and a half. Brock, Team Angle, Jazz, Victoria, Cena.... None of them were/are ready?
Guest Adrian 3:16 Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 Gail Kim isn't ready and neither were any of the OVW guys that have been brought up the last year and a half. Brock, Team Angle, Jazz, Victoria, Cena.... None of them were/are ready? Jazz came from ECW, not OVW. And as much as Cena entertains me, the jury is out on his ring work- not horrible, but nothing special either.
Guest The1977Canadiens Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 Eh, just make Kim and Trish a team... we got the new Crush Gals!
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 I would still love to know how you can say anybody sucks when a match lasts less than four minutes. Because that's as long as non-PPV women's matches go, and there's others who can do more in that four minutes?
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 Answer me this... in the last 6 months, which debuting wrestler HASN'T bombed in your eyes? Gail Kim has had one single's match, one tag match and one battle royale and already you're complaining? People are already complaining about Ultimo's placement on the card.
Guest NoCalMike Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 The WWE set Gail Kim up for failure, whether she sucks or not. She won the women's championship in her debut match when no one cared about her or knew who she was. Vince just expected people to be like, "wow, she won, that means I am supposed to care" would be much better if she put in her time and slowly climbed the ladder, the way it SHOULD BE DONE. But, Nooooo, instead she is just going over all these ALREADY established female wrestlers for no reason other than, Vince thinking that is how to get her over.
Guest deadbeater Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 (edited) I won't join in the Gail sucks club. It dawned on me... when in 1978 Remi Yokota came into the scene, no one ever worked as fast. But many small athletes did soon after. When in 1985 came around and Hisako Uno renamed herself Akira Hokuto, no one sacrificed his or her body as much as she has--she is the anti-harley Race. Many later followed her suicide style. When 1990 came around and an upstart named Minami Toyota came into the scene, applying size in combination with Jaguar workrate, no one ever thought of making that lethal combination. But many did soon after for better or worse. In 1998 a fitness trainer, Joanie Lauer, entered into wrestling. She became one of the more effective women wrestlers because of her size and athleticism. A shame she didn't become the Aja Kong of the WWF/E, but ahh well. Many fitness trainers followed her in pro wrestling. When in 1999 a young lady named Nora Greenwald came in, no one non-joshi, not even Madusa, that young ever came in with such a polished, wide array of skills, both flying and mat, so much so that she became co-trainer to the many fluffers in WCW. Her antics as Miss Madness was topped (and some say just poorly imitated) by Lita in the WWF/E. Others soon adopted the Nora hybrid style, including Kim. Problem with hyping Gail Kim is that the women's division now is very deep, and many of the workers continue to add and innovate their moveset. Ivory never flew until now, and she's over 40; Molly wil be known as Mother of Invention; Jacqueline just might do her no-shadow kick soon, and has promised to incorporate her Tae Kwon Do; and Trish, adapting moves from video games and movies, is biding her time to do that Chun Li helicopter kick--that will pop the crowd to no end! Victoria brings the hate to her execution--no other women can do that, and Jazz brings cruel smoothness. All this with Lita still out. Gail has some good moves already, but the depth of the division means that she will have to do a lot more to wow the crowd. Fortunately, she has a willing group or wrestlers that will help her to grow as an innovative wrestler. Edited July 15, 2003 by deadbeater
Guest Goodear Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 Would be much better if she put in her time and slowly climbed the ladder, the way it SHOULD BE DONE. What ladder? There's SIX of them! How the hell do you slowly climb a ladder that consists of Molly and Victoria?
Guest deadbeater Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 Have Gail be Molly's and Victoria's bitch. After all, Nora was Hosaka's pet basketball for over a year, until that christmas day in 1998.
Guest Ripper Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 If they really want her to get over, she has to do the moves on men first. They are bigger therefore making the moves look more impressive(like Lita's) and it will pop the crowd. EVERY other woman on the roster started out beating up men...well...except Victoria and Jazz, but the rest started as Valets getting cheap shots in. She should start this way as well.
Guest JMA Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 I can't believe people are already judging Kim when she's only had THREE MATCHES (and only ONE of them was a singles). People seem to have switched bandwagons.
Guest deadbeater Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 Maybe Kim will be the one to do the deserved smakdown on Test. If I am booking I am having that happen at once.
Guest godthedog Posted July 15, 2003 Report Posted July 15, 2003 that was 3 minutes and 18 seconds of sloppiness, awkwardness, poor timing and lots of dead time. there was no grace or fluidity to anything she did, her cues and placement were off, and i didn't see any indication that she could work a match at all. for much of the time, she just flat-out didn't know what to do; she wasted a lot of time and movement, and just looked lost. so, yeah. she does suck.
Guest Korgath Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 If they really want her to get over, she has to do the moves on men first. They are bigger therefore making the moves look more impressive(like Lita's) and it will pop the crowd. I agree. One of the things I did notice during her training videos is that she looked a million times better when working with a male trainer than with, say, Tracy Brooks. The whole point of a high-flying woman is that a man's gotta (literally) carry her during a match for her offence to look believable.
