Bret was leaning towards return at Wrestlemania XX

Recommended Posts

Guest Mikey2Dope

Was leaning towards return, now reconsidering…

Bret Hart was reportedly looking to make one last appearance with WWE, possibily at Wrestlemania XX, but the booking of Raw in Montreal has reportedly soured him on the idea.

Hart and Vince McMahon had tried to bury the hatchet several months back, and Bret was of the belief that McMahon was sincere in his desire to put things in the past.

Hart was set to meeting with McMahon at an upcoming Smackdown show in Calgary, and was also going to meet newer WWE wrestlers, specifically Brock Lesnar.

At this point, it is now less likely that Bret will appear at MSG at WMXX, however there are still many months between now and March 2004.

Jesus......If that stops Bret from going to WMXX then that's the way it was meant to be. Vince should let it go away already without bringing it up EVERY time they're in Montreal, but Bret should also get past it already also. He has a chance to say goodbye at what's shaping up to be perhaps the biggest show in WWE history and it would be great for him and his fans if he could say goodbye. Don't be so damn stubborn Bret

Good.

As much as Bret Hart is a hypocrite for telling "them to get over it" [face it, he whined about the screwjob every chance he could for YEARS] - I'd rather not see him go back and soil himself by doing business with McMahon.

Its been reported on the board before - it came up during the whole 'Breat releases statement about the Montreal RAW' thread.

Hi, my name is nl5 and I no longer care. If he's there, great, if he's not it won't bother me in the slightest.

Any guesses on how many more "will he be there?" // "he won't be there" threads we'll see between now and Wrestlemania?

Nope. no problems with your reply. You still care, a lot of us don't.

No one is right and no one is wrong. We just look at it differently.

That's fucking sweet!!

I'd rather have Bret not come to WMXX. Just stay away, Bret. You don't need closure, especially from the bastards who are partially responsible for Owen's death. Don't give them the pleasure or satisfaction of seeing you on their tv. It'll be like you succumbed to WWE, even though they ran roughshod on you when you left.

Just leave it alone, Bret.

Ok, number one if he does it it would be for HIMSELF and maybe his fans. Not for the WWE.

Number 2 --- Let's not get into the "WWE is responsible for OWen's death" arguement

He already came out for himself on the WWA PPV. Why should he help WWE make a buck off of him by showing up at WM? He has other avenue's to come out and speak through. Why does he need to go on WWE TV for his fans?

I said that WWE was partially responsible. WWE even said they were partially responsible and that's why they had the settlement with Martha. While Owen could've elected not to do the stunt, WWE provided faulty equipment and incompetent stunt coordinators, therefore they are partially to blame.

Well it's good to see he's still holding up everyone else for his egofuck.

But, nobody was watching the WWA PPV's......

Besides, that was in Australia. And most WWE fans dont know what WWA is, so they havent seen him. Just going on WWE TV and saying goodbye and thanks for all the support isnt bad

I see where you are coming from and you aren't necessarily wrong, but Bret does carry on about how he and his "Hitman" character have integrity. I see that integrity being compromised the minute he hits WWE TV and they score a rating/buyrate/buck off of him. If he comes out unannounced, I could live with it a little, but not much.

He can still reach his fans without going on WWE TV though. Just my $0.02.

Point well taken. What you said makes sense and it WOULD be pretty hipprocritical of him if he did appear on WWE after all the crapping he's done on them. IT's just sad to me that he was never able to say goodbye, and I guess the mark and me wishes that in a perfect world, Bret would get a great sendoff with a standing ovation.

Part of me also wants to see Bret get a proper send off as well for all he's done for wrestling. I could live with it, but it would be bittersweet for me in a way.

I'm surprised Vince McMahon can still walk after all the self-inflicted gunshot wounds to his foot...

how many times someone did a successful retirement speach in American wrestling promotions....without a return run or constant appearances in the promotion ina non wrestling role?

Bret Hart's Idea of a fairwell address seems to be something alien in the pro wrestling field...

I thought he just said he wouldn't work for McMahon anymore. I don't see what's wrong with him coming out and talking for one night, especially if it's unannounced.

Bret's only 6 years removed from the company and 3 years or so removed from wrestling. He's not at the age or condition where he's likely to die soon, so he has time.

BFD, WWE is in such a poor state that Bret Hart could only make it worse. Crippled fuck.

how exactly would a farewell speech make it worse? it's not like there's people all across the country who will go "dude, i'm ordering wrestlemania, it's gonna be so awesome! wait...bret hart's making a special appearance? aw, man, that's gonna take up like ten minutes! fuck that shit, i'm not watching it now!"

Did he just disappear in WCW or something?

I'm sure if he announced his retirement (as it was before WCW wound up drawing superduper tiny audiences) they would have given him some promo time or something.

They didn't just kick him off Nitro and never mention him again, did they?
