Guest mach7 Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Ugh, a Reality TV Show category? Give me a friggin' break...
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 heres one thats good for a laugh: Outstanding Main Title Design The Anna Nicole Show • E! (<-----) Hysterical Blindness • HBO Napoleon • A&E Normal • HBO Penn & Teller: Bullshit! • Showtime Granted, its a minor award that won't even be awarded on air, but still..
Guest starvenger Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Ugh, a Reality TV Show category? Give me a friggin' break... Take a closer look - they're using it for more than just reality shows. I guess they're folding it in with documentaries or something.
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Is there a different category for animated series, or did the Simpsons just get shafted out of the Oustanding Comedy category?
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Is there a different category for animated series, or did the Simpsons just get shafted out of the Oustanding Comedy category? I couldn't find any nominations in any category for The Simpsons.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Is there a different category for animated series, or did the Simpsons just get shafted out of the Oustanding Comedy category? Outstanding Animated Program (For Programming Less Than One Hour) As Told By Ginger • And She Was Gone • Nickelodeon Disney’s Kim Possible • Crush • Disney Futurama • Jurassic Bark • FOX The Simpsons • Three Gays Of The Condo • FOX SpongeBob SquarePants • New Student Starfish/Clams • Nickelodeon I don't get why they nominate a specific show though..
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 They nominate specific episodes when the award is for writing and they used to nominate specific episodes for acting too. You would send in one episode of the series that was thought to be the best work of the actor and they would get nominated for that episode, but all episodes and their work on the series could be considered, I think that's how it worked. I would guess a similar thing here, the series are being nominated for the quality of the specific episode listed. I believe the idea is that not all academy voters could watch all episodes of all shows. The Emmys seems stuck in three years ago as usual as Everybody Loves Raymond and the West Wing shouldn't have recieved half the nominations they did for this time around. I love Monk and hope Shaloub wins best actor. It's the smart type of detective show I'd wish they'd bring back in more than just classic reruns on Hallmark. A network could so get the mystery movie wheel up and running again.
Guest Ripper Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 I would like to see a better supporting actor in a drama series than what James Martsers did this year. REALLY. I mean look at the avatar. Is this not the hair of a man that deserves a Emmy.
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Thanks, Marvin. And I agree, why do just one episode for an animated if the rest of the "Outstanding" categories goes by the entire season? Couldn't a series have 2 or 3 finalists in the top 5 if it had a great season?
Guest Ravenbomb Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 how the crap does Enterprise get 3 seperate nominations for Special effects?!
Guest Nevermortal Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Bah. No Shield for Best Drama. I give that a BOO.
Guest razazteca Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Why don't they give everything to HBO.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Bah. No Shield for Best Drama. I give that a BOO. I'm with you man. Sex and the City is very overrated. It's not a bad show, but it's not a great show. I'm tired of this Everybody Loves Raymond and Fraiser shit. Neither are that great Buffy-snubbing-motherfuckers!
EL DANDY~! Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Bout damn time Bernie Mac got nominated... And I am deeply saddened at the fact that Will and Grace is up for Best Comedy...I mean REALLY...I'm not too big on it.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 I don't think Bernie Mac is funny. And Friend's just keeps getting nominated out of routine. Show hasn't been that good the last few seasons.
Guest razazteca Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Scrubs should of been nominated for best comedy.
Guest Retro Rob Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 ER had 4 (Guest Stars and Sound Editing). Eh, one of the guest stars (Don Cheadle) might win.
Guest Ripper Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 I don't think Bernie Mac is funny. And Friend's just keeps getting nominated out of routine. Show hasn't been that good the last few seasons. The season before this one was good as hell. This season fell back down to earth. Will and Grace is REALLY showing its age now. A couple of years back, I would have agreed with the nomination, but now it is just a guest star of the week, not as funny show. I second the BOUT TIME FOR SOME BERNIE MAC LOVE. On a side note, I was watching Kings of Comedy the other day and Bernie was talking about how he was the only one without a show. Now look at him. His show is still on the air(unlike Steve and Cedric) and doesn't suck donkey balls like DL.
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 How the hell did Leno get a nod over Late Night? Bah!
Guest starvenger Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 I don't think Bernie Mac is funny. And Friend's just keeps getting nominated out of routine. Show hasn't been that good the last few seasons. The last couple of seasons of Friends weren't all that bad, but aren't up to par with the first few seasons. Mind you, I don't think that Friends got nominated very often in the beginning, either. And watch The Original Kings of Comedy to see exactly how funny Mac can be.
Guest CanadianChris Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Outstanding Reality/Competition Program AFI’s 100 Years ... 100 Passions: America’s Greatest Love Stories • CBS The Amazing Race • CBS <---------------- American Idol • FOX 100 Years Of Hope And Humor • NBC Survivor • CBS This rules.
Guest razazteca Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 How the hell did Leno get a nod over Late Night? Bah! Craig Kilborn? Looks like he lost his spot to Daily Show with Jon Stewart.....again. Leno will always get nominated no matter what.
Guest Goodear Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Did the Sopronos even have a season come out this year?
Guest Slingshot Suplex Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 I'm tired of this Everybody Loves Raymond and Fraiser shit. Neither are that great Buffy-snubbing-motherfuckers! Preach on my brotha! I absolutely hate that damn Raymond show. Givin it too many chances and have never, ever laughed once. Overrated, overhyped, vanilla bland crap that ,for some reason, has brainwashed a good portion of America into giving it good ratings. Hell,I didn't even know Frasier was still on. And no Buffy at all? yeah,ok.
Guest Retro Rob Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 I like both Raymond and Frasier. Those two, as well as King of Queens and Will and Grace are the only sitcoms I watch on a semi-regular basis. Well, That 70's Show in syndication too.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Did the Sopronos even have a season come out this year? They ran late with season 4 so it missed last year's awards. Thus making this year's
Guest bob_barron Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Why the fuck wasn't Kristin Davis nominated for her excellent work in Season 5?? KIM CATTRAL DID NOTHING!! Jesus Christ- Kristin Davis has been brilliant on that show for 6 seasons and has jack shit to show for it. In Season 5 her character went through so many changes yet Kristin Davis was hilarious throughout all of them and made the viewer become emotionally invested into her character. Does Kim Cattral do that? No. All she did was go: I NEED RICHARD BOO-HOO. No one cared about there then and no one cares about her no. The fact that she got a nomination over Kristin Davis pure horseshit
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Sex and the City is way overrated in the first place. And Davis is far and away the best on the show.
Guest bob_barron Posted July 17, 2003 Report Posted July 17, 2003 Sex and the City is not overrated- It's a show that one minute can have you laughing your ass off and then 5 minutes later reducing you to tears (Yea- I've cried watching SATC- shut up) Season 6 has been fantastic so far- Charlotte is carrying that thing on her back. Her converting to Judaism storyline and relationship with Harry storyline have produced some of the funniest and most poignant moments in the show's run and it's making me fall in love with Season 6. The Miranda loves Steve storyline has also been picking up steam- Both characters have become so likeable that I'm actually getting tired of the fact that Steve hasn't dumped Debbie and just gone with Miranda- I really want to see them together. The biggest problem with Season 6 is the Berger-Carrie shitfest of a storyline. The writers don't understand that the viewer hasn't gotten into Berger yet. They also backed themselves into the corner with the Aiden-Carrie storyline. Aiden was the perfect single guy that Carrie was looking for all these years and then she dumped him. So now any new boyfriend really doesn't compare to Aiden so it makes no sense that Carrie is falling in love with Berger. Oh and do they have to make Berger into some smart ass bitch??? They haven't given us any reason why Carrie would fall in love with him. He's not funny, he's not likeable, he's not charming and he seems to get upset at the slightest bit of criticism. You're basically watching these two and thinking: Just break up and get it over with. Even though single girls across the country would kill themselves- They really should've married Aiden and Carrie and gotten it over with. I would comment on Samantha's storylines but I sometimes wonder why they even pay her and why she's on the show. Aside from getting screwed six ways from Sunday (literally) she hasn't really done anything remotely interesting- she's basically been used as filler. I actually don't mind that since whenever they give her a meaty storyline (Lesbianism, Richard) it kinda sucks. She's best in the way they're using her now. Short funny scenes that give the viewer a breath every now and then.
