WWE Sueing PWS

Sue them for what? Are PWS making money off the WWE logo and name?

:: goes to prowrestlingscoops.com ::

:: POPUP POPUP POPUP POPUP POPUP POPUP POPUP POPUP POPUP ::

No kidding. That's why I come to this site now, and pretty much avoid that one. Ryan Clark also puts pop-ups with the url names of the page you're on, so if you use a standard pop-up blocker, it will also close the page you're trying to access.

If the site gets closed down, I don't think I'd miss it that much. However, this is just another example of Vince throwing his weight around and trying to prevent people from knowing how shitty the product is.

I personally hate PWS.... I actually hacked PWS Forums before joining here. Ask anyone on those boards who Mada is and 90% of them will say they hate me. Is CronoT = Chronos? lol anyway I am glad Clark is being sued. He really is a bigger asshole than Vince.

But wait- when was the last time the WWE legal department actually WON a case? Seriously, they always loose.

Yeah, but who cares about her anyway?

They lost to a freaking PANDA. A guy who took a Rocker-Dropper wrong sues and gets millions. Besides Bass and the Steroid Trials, has the WWE legal done anything right recently?

They won the Sable suit pretty much. They got millions from Bozell too. They also deflected a lot of the liablility for Owen unto the insurance companies, and won the right to sue the latch manufacturer which is still in progress.

Saying WWE legal is terrible is wrong.

One of the WWE's biggest strengths is their legal dept. Linda McMahon is also a Lawyer.

They keep Vince outta trouble.

However, Vince has lost his fair share of court battles - just look at their Annual Reports and you'll find a bunch of lawsuits reported.

WWE is a bitch w/ regards to their name, which is why I laughed so hard when WWFund took em down.

I'm going to raise the BS flag. No way any web site wouldn't just shut down in the face of a cease & desist letter. No matter how wrong the big company's demands are, the little guy ALWAYS folds because he can't afford a lawyer.

They're just attention whoring by trying to act like they're fighting the WWE.

Yes Mada, it's me. I'm glad to see you. Hacking PWS.com was a bit annoying, but Ryan had it coming when you had to close or block well over 1,000 different pop-up ads.

The people here tend to be less twitchy and idiotic.

Now for a response from the PWS staff: First and foremost, we do not see where ProWrestlingScoops.com violates a WWE trademark. There is no mention of WWE in the title of the domain, therefore, that claim is false. We also do NOT use copywrited WWE images on this website. All of our images are made by us using Adobe Photoshop. Also, it is NOT illegal to type text of an event as it's ongoing and post it to the public (Play by Play coverage). This lawsuit has been brought against PWS, in what we feel, is an attempt to try and get rid of one of the bigger pro wrestling websites on the internet today. It's really a shame that WWE has, and is going to all extremes to protect their product from the internet (Of all places). We at PWS post backstage news and rumors on a daily basis. We are trying to promote WWE's product to further their success. Although some of the things we report about the company can be negative at times, that's the way it works when a companies product is not appealing to the general public. We are all fans of the product, but those of us who surf the internet get a more in-depth look at the company. Let's face facts WWE, if your running a multi million dollar company, inside news is going to get out whether you like it or not. Where will that inside news be posted? Right here on ProWrestlingSCOOPS.com because the fact of the matter is this - We are not going anywhere and will remain one of the premier pro wrestling websites on the internet. If this matter goes into a court of law, we will pursue the proper legal action as well as lawyers/attorneys if need be. PWS will be here for a long time to come. Before we end this, we ask WWE one final question - Why not spend money on hiring a decent group of writers to write your product instead of hiring lawyers to sue websites who report the real facts that WWE doesn't want you to see?

Note: We would like to hear your feelings on this matter. Any emails in which you send us could help if action is taken. ([email protected])

these clauses to me scream bullshit. when you make a response to the legal department, you would have to be a total dipshit to take the time to plug your own site and insult the writers, since they have nothing whatsoever to do with "lawsuit."

Vince is all about information control. He wants to control all the exposure and news about his product, so he can spin it to his ends. He's as bad as a politician, but without the ability to be impeached.

if he wants to control the information, shouldn't he go after the sites that provide the most information to the most people (i.e., the observer & the torch)?

It's an experiment. If he can win this one, he'll go after all the others with a Vengance. (Pun intended.)

If he loses, he'll simply move to more disreputable methods.

Maybe Vince heard about the little network of Clark's sites. Oh dear, what if PWS Forums close? shock horror they might loose their post counts. (They are obsessed with post counts)

I don't know what I would have done without internet reports, in particular from Dr Tom and JHawk, during the last year. Without them, I wouldn't have even known that John Cena was a rapper now.

Even though Vince is the main man for WWE, I highly doubt he is the only guy in the company that sends out these cease & desist things. I'm sure Vince wouldn't dirty his hands with something this petty. He probably mandated to the division of his company responsible for this area to make sure their copyright laws aren't being broken. If I ran the WWE, I wouldn't want to lose money to websites posting live play-by-play of a PPV. It may not be the way we want it, but it's just smart business. If you want to see the business pick up, this is a minor step in that direction. I myself pay for just about every PPV, or go to a local sports bar to watch.
