Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted July 19, 2003 SmackDown just got a cool new opening theme that with it being rap, fits UPN much better than Manson. It's also pretty cool in its own right, that's a pretty awesome beat. All they need to do now is get a set to match the hooks-and-ovals motif and switch to a typeface that's easier to read. So to complement, I think that Monday Night Raw (as they've been calling it again) should get a new theme. As I've ranted many times before, "Across the Nation" is the drizzling shit. Plus, the art motif of the show makes little sense: they've got all that weird shapey shit where the side-screens used to be in better times, and that weird swinging metal thing for the names, and the crowd backdrop in blue. It's really all over the place. I know it's the least of our worries, but Raw should really deviate from the Titantron they've had for all these years by doing more than skewing everything to one side. For music, go to a remix of the original Monday Night Raw theme (this should've been done in January after Raw X) and go to a shades-of-red color scheme with maybe, I don't know, barbed wire and shit. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 19, 2003 I don't particularly like Smackdowns theme, though the video rocks (dispite having benoit shown ONCE). Raw's is just horrible, I agree. The whole thing is dated.
Adam 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Yeah, the RAW theme is now old. It needs to be changed drastically.
Guest The Amazing Rando Report post Posted July 19, 2003 They should remix "We're All Together Now" from WWF: The Music Volume One with some of the new RAW superstars.
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Yeah, the RAW theme is now old. Ironically, my solution was an older theme. Older but so much better. Hey, it could be worse, we could still have "RAW IS WAR'S A FOAM NAKED GUY!"
Guest The Amazing Rando Report post Posted July 19, 2003 "RAW IS WAR'S A FOAM NAKED GUY!" <-- doesn't get this reference.
Guest JRE Report post Posted July 19, 2003 I don't care about the theme, it's never bugged me....but the set, damn...that's bugged me since it's debuted. It's horrible. Why is the Titantron lopsided? Is there any reason for that whatsoever? The show's called Raw, doesn't "Raw" imply something edgy....not fancily cut curtains in PASTELS? Yeah, the set bugs the hell out of me...everytime there's an authority change I hope for a new set. And then the crowd in lights...ugh. I can accept it for PPVs, Wrestlemania XIX paticuliarly had great lighting. I can even accept the blue backdrop for Smackdown. But Raw....the blue lighting just gives a boring feeling- no lights adds to the live atmosphere, it gives to the show. The opening segment of Raw last week had no blue lighting...it was great. The blue lighting has to die- it reminds me of when Russo went to WCW...the lighting was horrible....it was like....blue and red spots everywhere, ugh. Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Hey, it could be worse, we could still have "RAW IS WAR'S A FOAM NAKED GUY!" I LOVED that song. If they brought it back I might consider watching Raw. Once.
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted July 19, 2003 "RAW IS WAR'S A FOAM NAKED GUY!" <-- doesn't get this reference. Back during the days before Across The Nation, and when CRZ was recapping, the opening cut of Thorn In Your Eye, which I believe was done by Anthrax, was like the last 30 seconds of the track, and the song ends with "what has caused the thorn--IN YOUR EYE!" Listen to it sometime on Full Metal. Well, those words are borderline unintelligible, and every week CRZ would offer a new interpretion, thinking it was "Raw is War's a foam naked guy," "Raw is War's a phone, make it mine" and all kinds of stuff. Check the Slash archives.
Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted July 19, 2003 My vote is for the Torn in your eye theme... and get the F out with JR and the King. Bring Regal and I dunno... Mike Sanders.
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted July 19, 2003 They should change it to that "The End" song they own the rights to. Because that's exactly what happens when Raw hits the air, the end creeps closer everytime.

Mike Sanders. blach to pretty much all of that. I say Ross and Lawler should retire soon. I've heard good things about the announcers in Wildside but I forgot their names and have never heard them work. If sure they could be better than Coach. Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted July 19, 2003 They should change it to that "The End" song they own the rights to. You can't open the show with "The End Is Near," you'll get everyone's hopes up. That's flagrant false advertising.
Guest Celtic Jobber Report post Posted July 19, 2003 I don't like the Raw theme, but compared to Smackdown's theme -- it totally reeks of awesomeness. I HATE rap, most people I know who actually like that crap hate wrestling and think it's gay. I think they should've stuck with "Beautiful People" or if they want a tinge of 'hip-hop flava mixed with metalic beats' Limp Bizkit's "My Way" (I hate LB, but anything's better than the SD! theme...). In conclusion, Across the Nation is sucky, but bearable, while Smackdown's theme makes me want to stick a pencil in my ear.
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted July 19, 2003 I HATE rap Rap is crap. Anyhow, I'm not a fan of much rap other than some good old-school hip-hop, but for some reason that really heavy beat in the song sounds really cool and makes the whole song for me. And Across The Nation is still the drizzling shit compared to "I Want It All" or whatever.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2003 I'm guessing Vince was too cheap to pay Manson?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 19, 2003 I agree. Across the Nation isn't all that bad but It's fucking annoying now. However, Don't use another ROCK song or a Rap theme... Do something unconventional like a Long Gutair Acoustic Intro with a Soft Ballad Voice...something a little old school with Black and White grainy footage... Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Do something unconventional like a Long Gutair Acoustic Intro with a Soft Ballad Voice...something a little old school with Black and White grainy footage... A soft ballad voice isn't very raw. Just go with a variation on the mid 90s theme. Make it more intense. Likewise, the Wrestlemania XX theme shold be an orchestrated arrangement of the hip-hop Wrestlemania song we all know as Linda's theme and the old Wrestlemania Hymn, which is also a cool little ditty. Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 19, 2003 More intense? Nah...It would be something more DRAMATIC and EPIC like if you have the slow beat building to a HUGE blowoff... Sure...It's a lot to ask for in an 25 second spot...
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted July 19, 2003 How about some cuts from Channel One Suite? Big band is severely missing from the WWE repertoire.

LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Does everyone here remember when they first redid the RAW opening and they made a big deal about it for weeks leading up to the debut. It hought it was awesome, the fans rabidly pushing on the fence, the helicoptor spotlighting roofs.....and then you would see Stone Cold walking throught fire and Bret, Austin, Taker, and Sid fighting in the ring in a junkyard surrounded by flames.....Now THATS what RAW is supposed to look like. It was perfect. I say get rid of the giant Titantron and put a smaller screen in place of it, and make the entrance a little smaller.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted July 19, 2003 WWE Logo montage thingy.. "Its all about the game..." I mean come on, its not like HHH is using it any more and it couldn't be any more appropriate for the show.

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted July 19, 2003 I'd like to see "Thorn In Your Eye" by...aw, fuck, just look at my sig for who I'd like to see it by. I also think licensing Black Label Society - "Demise Of Sanity" would be a good idea. Zakk Wylde's a huge wrestling fan, and a few wrestlers (especially in WWE) are fans of Black Label Society. The Undertaker, Matt Hardy, probably HHH (since he's a metalhead), and probably quite a few more. Zakk also did the guitar work for Austin's 2001 theme (the sped-up one). Heh...listening to this song made me think that it'd be pretty cool for a PPV intro...Slayer - "Seasons In The Abyss".
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Don't forget...Austin pimps the hell out of BLS all the time... Does Austin still use his kick ass Disturbed version?
Guest mickberna Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Edge pimps BLS in his column. He uses it for workout music. Good stuff. I don't know if anyone has heard of Beyond the Embrace, but they're a heavy metal band that plays mostly in the northeast. They let me use one of their songs for my wrestling show when it aired last year, and it worked out perfect for an intro... see for yourself. http://www.nywcwrestling.com/multimedia/vi...2vids/intro.wmv NOTE: I would have edited this video differently, but whattaya gonna do. Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 19, 2003 I would pimp for Life of Agony to do a WWE video promo but I can't find or think of a damn song that fits for WWE... RIVER RUNS RED however is PERFECT for the emotion of the WWE fan during raw...
