PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 Burton? God I hope not. He's first choice at the moment really, esp with Tudgay missing the start of the season.
deancoles 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2006 How's Maclean doing, fit yet? It's horrible when you have a really good player who's always injured, we had that with Billy Mercer a few years ago, best Keeper we had in years as well.
deancoles 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2006 Good result last night, 6-0 at Forest Green with 6 scorers. Johnson's really searching far and wide with the trialists, we've had Portugese,Belgian,German,Irish,Argentine,a 6'7 French midfielder plus CM Legend Cherno Samba. PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2006 Maclean is fit and has gone to America yes. I hope he can recover form after vitally missing the majority of our first season in the division. Never missed a pen for the club!
k thx 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2006 One thing about Burton, he's a moody little shit. He started his career with us and was always a dick. So far, Pompey have all the moneyin the world, but no-one wants to take it from us. £8.5 mil bid for Curtis Davies rejected. We're possible gonna spend over 8 mil on an injury plagued Benfica midfielder.
deancoles 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2006 Phillips seems to be off down the road to the Gas, Flapper dropping down a league should shut up certain parts of the crowd who said he was Championship quality and our best Goalie.

PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2006 Another thing I hate about pre-season that I've probably mentioned before: we never know who the fuck we're signing. Sturrock's endless 'We've a lort of irons in thee fire' crap is kind of understandable but does me head right in.
deancoles 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2006 Hmmm. I have to say I'm not convinced. Why not. Our Trialists and Reserves beat Clevedon 4-0, "The Next Big Thing" played 63 minutes but didn't score, Cherno must be adjusting back to English life after 2 years in Spain, the Portugese Left Winger got a nice free kick and will probably be the one trialist to be offered a deal. Anorak 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 It's horrible when you have a really good player who's always injured. We have a young Aussie midfielder called James Wesolowski who broke his leg twice last season. Looked very useful when he's played but even managed to pick up a thigh strain against Boston last week in our first pre-season game.
deancoles 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 The Italian Trial is really not doing anything for the Premiership's image is it? Zambrotta and Thuram join Barca Emerson and Cannavaro join Madrid Buffon,Del Piero and Nedved want to stay at Juve Toni to Inter or Madrid Ibrahimovic to one of the Milan clubs Milan have no need to sell anyone Funny how none were interested in playing in "the most exciting/Best league in the world" Edit: Playing as Juve and winning Serie B first season should be a really fun challenge on FM 07. Guest BOOT Report post Posted July 21, 2006 The Italian Trial is really not doing anything for the Premiership's image is it? Zambrotta and Thuram join Barca Emerson and Cannavaro join Madrid Buffon,Del Piero and Nedved want to stay at Juve Toni to Inter or Madrid Ibrahimovic to one of the Milan clubs Milan have no need to sell anyone Funny how none were interested in playing in "the most exciting/Best league in the world" Edit: Playing as Juve and winning Serie B first season should be a really fun challenge on FM 07. It's because they're pussies. Too scared of the hard work it would take to excell in the fast and physical Premiership. The ones who aren't complain about the weather. Give me a break. It doesn't look favourably on the league though, which is a shame. Having said that, on closer inspection, the Premiership still doesn't have that much to contend with. In Spain Barca are obvioulsy the best team, the best in Europe on their day. Looking at the 'second best team', Real Madrid, you have a team who've had massive problems in defence for a while, and last season really did nothing in terms of having an impressive and formidable attack. The second best team in the league is a bit shit. Obviously these new signings could go some way to rectifying that, but we're talking about a team who made Walter Samuel look like a shit defender. Even if the Italian league wasn't taken out of the equation with their severe corruption, there are numerous arguements against it. There's the age old boring defensive style of play arguement, that's given. But you also have the fact that a team like Inter spends so much money, and wins fuck all anywhere...OK, that's neither here nor there, I just like mocking Inter. If they don't win the league this season, I'll laugh even harder than usual. Ultimately, I think it comes down to the fact that staying on the continent is the easiest option to play and make big money for most established players. Or maybe the Premiership is poo, who can say for sure? Just my unoriginal opinion.
deancoles 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2006 The World Class Italian players(Zambrotta,Cannavaro and Buffon) would settle fine, the ones who complain usually aren't performing on the pitch. Barcelona do look unstoppable, get a left back and GK and there's no weakness. Inter "won" the league this year, this season the real battle is for 2nd place. Could say the same about English players, certain players(Lennon,Terry,A.Cole and Lampard) would really benefit by playing on the continent.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2006 Aside from Chelsea, the clubs they're joining (Inter, Madrid and Barca) are willing to pay them more outrage wages. There's your basic explanation. To be fair, La Liga and Serie A are probably more exciting prospects. The choices for the Premiership are either a. Join Chelsea and risk sitting on the bench 50% of your games or b. Join anyone apart from Chelsea and kiss goodbye to winning the league.
deancoles 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2006 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/5210260.stm Can see him at Ajax/Feyenoord/PSV in a few years if he does well. On the main site he said he has good memories, compared with flapper who described his last 8 months "a nightmare" and mentioned the word respect a lot. http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/displayNode...tentPK=14966945
PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 Carson finally commits to Liverpool. I always expected it, but now it's finally over, we're well fucked. At least it's the only position where we need someone. Sturrock confident of having a keeper by saturday, with nil names floating around currently. Apparently Plan B was done for because the Carson thing took so long, so we're on Plan C. Joy. Getting Lunt and Bougherra off Crewe was pretty impressive, but Sturrock's still somewhat unproven in the transfer market, I fear.
PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 Mansfield 4 Sheffield Wednesday 0 Dear sweet fucking mother of fuck Did I mention how much I love pre season? Sturrock fields an entire team of players who had barely got off the plane from the states, none of whom could stand under their own power, when this was the ideal opportunity to give Talbot/Spurr/Mccallister et al a run out. At least he admitted it was the worst decision in his 13 years as a football manager, and we've got it out of the way before the league kicks off, but fuckin ell. deancoles 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 We haven't lost in pre season yet, with all the trialists and transfer listed guys we've got 2 squads at the moment. Nuno Santos has been good so far, with a bit of training he should solve our left sided problem and save a bit of money as well. http://www.cityladies.co.uk/spf/bristolcity_dive.jpg Transfer wise, Partridge is to Orient for a month with Heywood at Brentford and we've actually named a player we're close to signing which we haven't done since the Coughlan cock up. Might not seem important, but on our team photo there's a psychologist and nutritionalist expert which we haven't had since the cutbacks when Wilson left. PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2006 Owls 1 Middlesborough 2 Better, apparently. Couldn't be worse. Adamson saved Yak's penalty!
PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2006 OK, so we got that young Aussie keeper on a three month loan. Sturrock tells us not to compare him to Carson. Uh oh. He had a few decent performances in the prem last season I guess. He's 6'5, so I'm fearing a younger Kalac. Still, we looked like we were gonna do Preston until a few days ago when everyone got injured again. Only fit striker is Maclean, and he's our best striker at least, we'll probably play Lunt just behind him or something. We'll see.

PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2006 0-0 away with 10 men, so I won't complain. Apparently our disallowed goal looked ok, but nevermind, I think we got off lightly in the end.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2006 2 wins for Forest so far, not played great by the sounds of it and a real shame to have Tyson out but I'm semi confident we can carry on picking up wins.
k thx 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2006 Forrest are looking good from what I can tell. There's nothing wrong with picking up wins while playing badly. As for Pompey, we've got Crazy Sol Campbell on a free. I am pleased.
