We're taking Celtic Reserve Kjartan Finnbogason on trial during pre season, he rejected a 2 year deal with them and has 31 goals in 31 games for the U19 and Reserve sides.

This West Ham thing is still dragging out.

The Premier League fixtures for next season are released tomorrow.

There's a strong rumour from a reliable source that Derby's first game is at home to Villa.

Our first game will probably be Away because of the Baloon Fiesta, hopefully if it's away we get Norwich or Ipswich and get the big trips out the way.

We've been linked with a German U21 Left Winger from Bochum, they've supposedly turned down 3 bids with the latest being about £370,000.

Got more important things to worry about than England..

...like having a 4th division manager and playing in Portsmouth's kit.

Awesome.

It's like bizarro world Pompey if we'd got relegated the season before last.

Our start gives us the chance to get to the top of the table and stay there instead of getting beat up at the beginning of the year. That's what I draw from it, anyway.

Ah, I forgot we have a resident Pompey fan on here.

<_<

I can't see us beating you first game of the season. If we do, thoug, it may be a long hard season.

Add that to our next five games being against Man U, Chelsea, Bolton (although I don't think they'll do that well without Allardyce), Arsenal and Liverpool, and I don't think we'll make the flying start we did last season. I'd rather play the big 5 at the end of the season when they have one eye on Europe/FA Cup finals. We beat United and Liverpool that way.

This season could well see the band of clubs under the top 4 doing getting larger and competitive. West Ham are spending a lot, Allardyce and O'Neil at Newcastle and Aston Villa will probably have good seasons. Everton & Spurs should have good seasons again, and hopefully Pompey will be in the mix (although that all depends on what strikers we sign). I can see Wigan, Man City and Fulham having bad seasons and competing with the promoted clubs for the relegation spaces. Derby will likely struggle, I'm afraid, but the money they gain will stand them in good stead in the future. They may be the Watford of this season.

This boy is one of the most infamous players in our recent history. We had him signed on loan over a year ago and he broke his foot a matter of days later. He never played for us! It was a complete disaster. I hope you have better luck with him.

Our fixtures have worked out that we are away to Peterhead and Ross County in consecutive away games. As it's in February, both matches should survive the weather. A re-arranged midweek match at Ross County (4 and a half hour journey) would be death.

Gary likes the SPL, last summer Hearts let us have Johnson Jnr and McAallister for nothing, we're after Dargo and Pospisil this year.

I've got Spurs making the Champions League ahead of Arsenal this time around. The boys at White Hart Lane are putting together a special team. I think that Reading will find their way back down, as will Derby and Wigan. Reading's season was all smoke and mirrors. Can't believe they finished the season in the mid-table.

I obviously speak with biase, but the general concennus (sp?) is that Billy is going to bring in a LOT of new players, we aren't in ANY financial trouble any more, we haven't been for over a year now (£1m for a 31 year old striker in january last year) and I have a feeling if we can stay up this season, with the money coming in the year AFTER, we might just start to do something special.

Obviously, if we can keep hold of Davies the manager, and Barnes, and to less of a degree, David Jones, who I think was the best complete midfielder in the championship last year.

We're getting linked with everybody from Robbie Fowler to Dia Kamara and Robbie Earnshaw.

Oh, and the Daily Mirror is trying to get us relegated already, they're constantly linking us with Francis Jeffers.

David Nugent was spotted in Derby last week too, but that was probably just visiting half of Preston's old coaching staff who work at Derby now.

It's certainly an exciting time for Derby, we're entering the season with NOTHING to lose, and everything to gain.

How about we make some predictions for the end of the season?

I might just write up a 1 to 20 league standings at the end of the season in a bit.

This is what i've come up with for next season.

1. Chelsea

2. Liverpool

3. Manchester United

4. Arsenal

------------------------

5. Tottenham Hotspur

6. Newcastle United

------------------------

7. Aston Villa

8. Everton

9. Sunderland

10. Blackburn Rovers

11. West Ham United

12. Bolton Wanderers

13. Middlesbrough

14. Portsmouth

15. Derby County

16. Birmingham City

17. Fulham

18. Wigan Athletic

19. Manchester City

20. Reading

Now, i'm not expecting a huge surprise team, but I think Sunderland will have a good season.

Yeah, that's why I put all three in the bottom eight.

Just been listening to talksport today, some Liverpool fan rang in almost crying with joy as he was talking about Thierry Henry coming for £28m.

He has an inside tip apparently, and all bookies in Liverpool have suspended betting.

Posted

Well, evidently bookies in Liverpool are as gullible as the fans is all I'll say for now. Besides, Rick Parry is doing his bit to send West Ham down so Tevez is less pricey. We've apparently agreed a deal with 'a utility player'. Trying to think who that could be. We've already got Bully, who's played in all eleven positions!

Posted

We're never going to get Tevez. Inter Milan are going to buy him.

We need to focus on more realistic targets like Diego Milito or Fernando Torres or Mancini. We will never get Tevez.

Posted

I'd be amazed if you got him that cheap (Scott Brown went to Celtic for an amazing £4million - unheard of in inter-Scotland transfers), unless he had a major falling out with Collins and they are desperate to offload him.

Posted

It has went down. And they won't move Ronnie, they'll move Deco. I think that's what they'll do.

Posted

We're in talks with Sharp. Him and Burton could be bloody good together actually. Still sad Maclean left, but we've anticipated it for a while. Would rather he'd gone to the SPL than a championship side though, with him and Chopra Cardiff might threaten again. In other news, our stadium is under a few feet of water. Hopefully Sharp can swim.
