Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 23, 2003 The 4 man MIGHT have worked if he started the season with it...Instead of trying to fuck up the pitcher's mental physical clocks mid-season.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 23, 2003 In order for the 4 man rotation to work you need 4 good starters. The Reds don't have that luxury.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2003 The Reds turned down Albie Lopez because his elbow was sore. Albie - Amazing long balls included everyday
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Is LopeZ an pitcher? We'd take him... NO MORE FUCKING OUTFIELDERS!
Guest DrTom Report post Posted July 23, 2003 The Orioles should be active in the next eight days. Were I them, I'd trade Melvin Mora right now... well, I would have traded him before he took a fastball to the face, but still. His trade value will never be higher, and there's no point paying him for a career year next year. Jeff Conine is also a good bet to leave, and his steady RBI bat should bring something decent in return. If Sidney Ponson can't be signed to a contract extension, I'd ship him out of town, too. He's really no better than a #2 or 3 starter, and he's 1-14 against Boston and the Yankees over the past few seasons. It does seem like he's turned the corner and put the arm abuse of the past behind him, but there's no reason to pay the guy like an ace.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Just read the Pirates story. How pathetic. And people wonder why I don't give a crap about my hometown teams...
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Interesting to note how Orosco's first major league manager in 1979 was Joe Torre.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Orosco's career has spanned four decades. I was so sure he was dead. And then my dad phoned me to tell me the news, and I almost did a spit take.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted July 23, 2003 When the Yankees go all the way this year, will Jesse hold the record for most years in between world series wins for a player?
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted July 23, 2003 Sorzry 'Sault but i just don't see the Yanks winning it all. They have the same basic team that couldn't beat the Angels last year. And a more questionable bullpen. Orasco and Benitez won't be the difference.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted July 23, 2003 They still are the second best team in baseball. (Of course, last year's play offs shot everything to shit with anyone who could be considered a favorite going early.) '
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted July 23, 2003 The hot trade rumor coming out of Pittsburgh is Giles, Kendall, and Suppan for a 30 year old minor leaguer, a retired guy, and a Reggie Jackson rookie card.

Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Oh yeah.. Orosco's Yankee stint started on a good note he went on his way to Baltimore, but the game was in New York That was a joke, right? No. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...2151EDT0469.DTL "Jesse Orosco, the Yankees' latest -- and late -- arrival, got loose in the eighth but was not needed. Acquired Tuesday night in a trade with San Diego, the 46-year-old reliever left the West Coast headed for Baltimore, where he thought the game was being played. Orosco was rerouted when he got to Nashville, Tenn., and made it to Yankee Stadium in the sixth. By the end of the inning, he already had changed into his No. 47 jersey and was greeting his new teammates in the bullpen. "Long journey," Orosco said. "There was a mix-up on something, but it worked out.""

EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2003 If I remember right, Giles didn't want to be traded because his contract expires this year. Were he to get shipped to Oakland, chances are he might not be worth as much. Granted, he'll probably get better playing time in Pittsburg, but I think he wants to pad some numbers to make him the superstar on the Pirates, therefore insuring him more cash. Besides, like he'd be in an A's uniform for more than 6 months knowing his contract is soon up. ALSO...Colon for Alfonso and Jesse Foppert would be outstanding, because Colon takes his place and Jerome Williams can be the fifth on that staff behind Reuter (when he comes back from the DL), Schmidty, and Moss. Moss finally realized something about pitching...LET THEM TRY AND HIT IT.
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Giles has a contract going through 2005. They said on the Pirates game yesterday that he rejected trades to the As and the Mariners. What is he thinking? The Mariners lead the division, the As are only 5 back and 4 back in the wild card I think.
Bored 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Well now apparantly the reports that Giles nixed the deals are false and the A's, Mariners, and Padres are all still interested. Pat Gillick of the Mariners is well known for not doing anything at the deadline so I'm wondering if the Mariners have entered themselves in the chase for Giles just to make the A's give up more. Oh and the deal with Giles is his contract runs through 2006 but he has an option to void his deal and become a free agent after this year. I haven't been able to find a full breakdown of his deal but his average yearly salary is $9 million and considering the current market in baseball I don't see him getting that much more than he's currently earning so its really up in the air as to what he would do. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 29, 2003 No. It's not make or break. It does fill a need in for a team in the divisional race. Peter Gammons reports the Yankees are desperate to dump Raul Mondesi. Finally figured out the guys a heartless dog, and Garcia, and Sierra platoon is better for the Yankees.
