I hate the Boone trade. Guy is 30 years old, plays in a bandbox and is in his last year of his contract. Sorry to tell you red sox fans, Jeff Suppan is a bum. He is worse than Boone.

SF Gets Ponson

Baltimorons get Ainsworth and Damian 1.80 WHIP/4.80 ERA Moss

Yankees traded Ventura to the Dodgers for a couple of minor leaguers.

I wonder if the Orioles traded Mora for Beltre after the Dodgers got Ventura.

I imagine that there aren't any more trades..

There is an outside chance a trade will leak out that was finalized a minute before the deadline. The after next Tuesday there will waiver deals where someone like Juan Gonzalez might go.

Boone to the Yanks is just wrong for me...

It's a shame...Cincy liked him and he liked us.

FUCK YOU LINDER!

Why are you complaining choken???? You just got a decent young left with a good arm. He might have had tommy john surgery, but from what I have seen I have liked. It is not like Aaron Boone was the top star on the team. Great trade for the Reds if Claussen stays healthy and pitches the way he did against the Mets.

Aarron Boone was EXTREAMLY popular here in cincy and was a team leader...

Boone is in his last year of his contract...because its a one year contract and he's not eligible for free agency until after next year. I agree on Suppan as he's the annual overrated, mediocre pitcher that gets traded every trade deadline.

Suppan seems like a National League pitcher. However, the Sox needed another starter and they don't have anything to lose.

I'll comment more on these trades when I post my weekly baseball report later tonight. I really like the Ponson trade for both clubs. And I can't for the life of me see why the Dodgers had Bubba Crosby in AAA, especially when they were so desperate for offense.

The Giants got Sidney "14-6 with Baltimore" Ponson for Ainsworth and Moss?

:D

I dunno what it is, but it seems like Sabean seems to find a sucker, somewhere, every year. Like when he got the Mets to take Estes...

A sucker? You're vastly underestimating the players the Orioles got, then. Moss was a ROTY candidate last year, and had a very good two months this year before falling apart in June. He's started to bounce back, though, and looks to be a very solid young pitcher. Ainsworth is probably out for the year, but he should be a solid #3 or 4 starter for the O's next year. And Ryan Hannaman, the prospect the Orioles got, is a hard-throwing lefty with great stuff.

It's a good trade for both clubs, and I'd go so far as to say the Orioles made out better than the Giants did. I don't have any idea what you naysayers calling them "suckers" and "Baltimorons" are talking about.

Especially when you consider the possibility that Ponson ends up right back in Baltimore this offseason. The Orioles are going to be this year's Phillies with around 60 million dollars to play with according to rumblings. I imagine if they really wanted him they could resign him no problem.

If they get another big name starter in the offseason and a big bat they could be set up nicely. A staff of Colon (or any FA ace), Ponson, Johnson (a serviceable 3), Moss (a pretty good-very good 4), and Ainsworth.

A key component is that Ainsworth and Moss are years away from free agency.

Ainsworth might be a bust considering that he wont see action until next year. He was going to try and come back from his fractured shoulder for the giants by August 31 deadline so he could be available in the playoffs. I think the O's told him to forget that and be ready to go next year. Ainsworth is the better pitcher of the two, hes a possible #2 starter down the road, Moss is a good #3 at best. Moss walks to many batters for my taste, but he had been turning things around over his last few starts and maybe a change of scenery will do him even better.

The O's also got Ryan Hannaman. a stud Starting Pitcher down in A ball in the deal as well. He's only 21 and was supposedly one of their best prospects down in the low minor leagues.

As for the big amount of money the Os might spend this coming offseason, rumors have it they will go after Tejada, Vlad, Beltran, and a few other hitters. The main objective is supposedly to bring in some offense. I suppose another pitcher could happen, and if Ponson comes back it would give them a rotation of Ponson, Ainsworth, Moss, Lopez and J. Johnson, which isn't too shabby sounding.

And I called em the Baltimorons cause they should have resigned him, or at least offered something more than $15 million/3 years. That was pretty much an insulting offer and whether you think he's going to continue to pitch as he has been next year, you have to at least make a respectable offer. I would have rather had Ponson, but in the end the deal they got isn't that bad.

So does Boone have another year on his contract, or just to the end of this one? I hate this deal. They got a guy on the DL (Gabe White) and traded Ventura, who, though he's only hitting .230, is as solid a defensive 3B as there is. I don't understand that trade from the Dodgers side either, because the Yankees got some good AAA players for a player that LA doesn't really need because he is not an offensive upgrade. Anyway, as long as I get what I want as an evil Yankee fan..mwahahahaha...that being Eric Chavez for the hot corner in 2005, I'll be happy.

The Yanks have now

Boone

Jeter

Soriano

Giambi

Johnson

pretty god damn great infield whom ALL can get runs and Homers (save for Jeter) run down there.

I'd still rather have Ventura, who has developed into my favorite player over the last year and a half. I just always loved third base. Anyway, Ventura would churn out one or two Web Gems per night. His D is "Off The Hook" and he'll be missed. Since the line-up is already as stacked as it is, Ventura was fine as an 8 or 9 hitter.

Speaking of the Dodgers (Sort of), I'm throwing it out there that I think that they will win the Tejada sweepstakes this offseason.

Have you ever seen Aaron Boone play?

Not Only is Boone Equally if not better at the defense...He can bring in the runs and the hits..Unlike Ventura...Boone can play the infield at any spot.

Boone is an improvement for the Yankees.

Only in the 3 game Yanks/Red series earlier this summer. Which side of the plate does Boone hit from, by the way?

So Aaron Boone is the new 3rd baseman for the Yankees.... I just hope he can handle the pressure.

If he can play under the pressure of having your father the Manager...playing for the Yankees won't be shit for him.

And he is a righty...

The PCL is noted for it's inflated stats. It's hard to judge how good a hitter really is in that league.

No offense Choken, but it was the Reds.... NY, LA and Boston are the worst places to play as far as wanting immediate production, in that order. But if Nick Johnson is going to start over him, then its okay, for now.

The only way it would have gotten any worse for him is if he played for the Mets at the start of this season.

Baltimore can improve all they want. They have to remember that they have 2 power houses in front of the them, the yankees and the red sox. There is a good reason why the yankees and red sox have finished 1 and 2 every year since 1998.

I dont understand the dodgers. They are trying to improve and get more run production. They have McGriff, Henderson and Ventura in their lineup???? God damn this team is old. To think that the dodgers were a great young team 6 years ago making the playoffs. Every year they had a rookie of the year, wtf happened. Who was the idiot GM that said the Yankees better watch out when they signed Kevin Brown???? Not one single playoffs for that team. I think it was Kevin Malone or something.

I wonder who is going to be traded in the waiver deals?? Ooo and AROD I hope you have fun playing for that last place rangers team who have seattle, anaheim and oakland in their division. You sold your soul to the devil, deal with it. Is there any luck that Juan Igor Gonzalez will remain the loser that he is????

Very true. However, .361 should turn heads no matter where you play, and when your team is LAST in runs scored, you need to start looking at the AAA guys.

Doesn't mean they can't try and improve.

Texas will contend in two years. Mark my words.
